PLEASE YES
First game that comes to mind when you say “Night Vision” is Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. I can hear that iconic high-pitched whirling followed by Michael Ironside’s smooth ASF voice saying something sardonic.
I was about to say, sound, definitely spinter cell, function metro any metro.
Thought the exact same thing, especially the merc vs spy multiplayer.
Glad to see someone else also had Splinter Cell as their iconic NVG game, it was my first thought too.
@@lmcg9904the original 2033 release had some seriously cool NVGs. They made using scopes basically impossible but they looked cool and had really cool functionality.
Came here to say the same. The iconic Splinter Cell (2002) on PS2 was my first game with with the NVG sound. We played that game so much, it's an absolute classic for me.
“BI-CH! YOU WOKE ME FROM MY SLUMBER!” Is probably just in general the best way to wake up
When you said the stuff about nightvision in games, the first game that popped back in my head after many years is Delta Force: Black Hawk Down. I used to play it back in '08 and '09 while my dad was in Afghanistan and i used to pretend i was playing as my dad. Just wanted to put that out there, thanks for reminding me of a childhood memory! :)
This is the most wholesome thing I have ever read, thank you.
@@mopeymuzzo5151 glad to hear that man
delta force 1
Oh dude holy shit literally the same childhood
Did the same while my dad was deployed
Drewski doesn't fail to surprise me with another S.T.A.L.K.E.R GAMMA video
Splinter Cell Chaos Theory was the first game I ever played with night vision. It blew my mind how good it looked at the time!
+1
Yep. It was awesome.
The 3 lenses and that sound are iconic.
The original Splinter Cell's night vision really blew my mind on the OG Xbox back in the day when it first came out
You nailed me, I absolutely am watching this on my big TV in my living room late at night and that psysucker jump scare was absolutely glorious
Night raids in Escape From Tarkov has been one of my favorite things to do in gaming since they've made changes to IR lasers + Illuminators. It feels so dope playing it slow and just sweeping an area with a kitted out USP.
My favorite game with nightvision was Halo ODST. I always loved how it just highlighted things so you still had your natural NV of your dilated eyes. Sometimes NV tries to do too much, especially in video games. Sometimes it ambient light level just makes in not necessary or often the NV is just day time with a green filter over it. I like the NVs that you need, Arma comes to mind but mostly because those nights get really damn dark
+1 for ODST, first game I can remember playing with NV and they pulled it off so well
Love ODST!!
this one. ODST by itself was such an amazing game, and especially the NV
ODST was so immersive and VISR just added to it loved that game, still do
i loved the night vision missions in delta force: black hawk down, they were decently realistic for the time at least
Definitely black hawk down miss that classic
Oh wow, to think I just remembered this game a couple days ago, it was always so awesome to play those missions
I had the first 2 Delta Force games and then I either got Black Hawk Down or the demo for it. The first thing I saw when I entered a multiplayer match was a US soldier in full gear doing somersaults. I never played it again.
legit one of my favorite games. used to play that a lot back in the day.
Blackhawk Down! Ah man, the peak of the Delta Force series, I loved MP in that game.
I just discovered this mod from one of your videos popping up in my youtube feed.... I played shadow of the chernobyl like CRAZY back in 2007/2008 but didnt end up getting any xpacs since the game didnt live up to the hype back then
... GAMMA feels like the game this was meant to be. I am so grateful to be experiencing this now. Game is now 16 years later and it's been so incredible
I started a little over a month ago and I just recently gotten geared enough to actually do stuff without immediately dying.
I did a few of the main missions and explored up to pripryat, then headed back to my base at the farmstead to sleep. When I woke up it was a lot more quiet than usual. I went out side to look for the usual stalkers around the campfire, but I was met with 10+ monolith expert-legendary exo-soldiers outside the door stacked tactically against the wall. All of the other stalkers were dead or attempting to fight back. One of the most ass clenching firefights ensured. It was fucking insane, top 15 gaming experiences of my life.
If I could compare the world play to anything it would have to be Fallout NV, but even then it does some things better than even FNV. If you haven’t already, I really recommend the GAMMA mod. It’s a real challenge even on the easiest modes and a real breath of fresh air from the hand holding of todays games.
That's a good story for the campfire
i love hearing drewski share core memories from airsoft
Makes me want to get into it, sadly where I live you have to be eighteen so I have to wait a few more months.
@@daanoffline5716 meanwhile you can always practice dry fires, even with aa sick or a gun toy (what airsoft guns are basically)
@@carlitosskater89 Airsoft is DEFINITELY not a toy lol. You really don't want a kid using it without proper instructions. Unless you hate having eyeballs.
This series should never end. We need this series several times a week. Keep up the awesome work Drewski!
I've always found the dark relaxing. I used to walk home the darkest ways I could find when I was a kid, through some dangerous places. You'd never see anyone though, I think most people are pretty scared of it they just don't admit it. I'm from a long line of people who worked underground, maybe its genetic because I see real good and I like caves and old mines too. Be interesting to study how generations of people adapt to unusual conditions like that
thats really cool ngl
I love how used to the Zone Drewskie got. There's a full on firefight going on not to far away but for the zone it's just another Tuesday
There's an addon in the Gamma addons menu called "Mag redux" or something like that, and it adds magazines to the game so you actually have to carry mags and load bullets and such in them! I love it for the added extra bit of realism! You might enjoy it!
I used to run mag redux with a custom Anomaly modlist before I knew about GAMMA. Is it the one that's buried in the ZCP menu, or is there something else I'm missing? I enabled that but it doesn't seem to have done anything.
@@ugrena7419 - IIRC for GAMMA you have to enable mag redux in the MO2 instance, disable the "unjam on reload key" mod in MO2, launch the game and then configure as needed.
@@SeamusCameron Yeah, i actually figured it out a couple of days ago, I had forgotten that some of the stuff in gamma is disabled in MO2. Thanks though!
the first game that makes me think of night vision, is when I played COD 4 MW, and it just felt super cool cutting the power out back and clearing a house in the dark, seeing the AI enemies scrambling around trying to see
Same here
Your STALKER content is easily your most intriguing solo content. Hope you keep making more!
Splinter Cell is the game that immediately comes to mind when I think of NVGs being used in video games. It's a core game mechanic of the series.
I've always liked the night vision in the Metro games, although buggy at times its cool to see PNV 57e(or similar) in use even if its not realistic. Soviet night vision is something that's not really explored in video games or at all and I'm always interested whenever it dose pop up.
not an older game but Clean House in MW19 was the first thing that came to mind when i thought of a night vision based section/mission. Also night raids in Escape From Tarkov have such an ambiance, somewhere between tense, covert movements, and the calming presence of the shroud of darkness concealing you makes them very appealing to me.
Man, this video was amazing. I hope you make more of these! It really made my day. I love when it actually feels like I'm going on an adventure, it helps with the boredom 😂
I love how this game can be so chill and in a split second completely flip.
Yo who remembers Syphon Filter on the PS1 and that night vision sniper mission in the park? Shit was dope. And not to mention the completely BASED taser 😂
Holy crap, you just sparked some major forgotten memories of mine with that game syphon filter! Good call on that one man
Bro, I loved lighting people on fire with the tazer!
@@jaybravo201🔓 core memory unlocked 🔓
Syphon Filter was the real shit on PSX, man I remember the taser burning enemies when you were letting it work for too long 😂
Agreed
Drewski makes another stalker video
Me: Now this puts a smile on my face.
+1 : D
Same
I love your Stalker Content Bro!
Just chillin‘ and listen to your stories feels almost like hangin‘ out with a friend ✌🏻
Unless some Mutant jumpscares the crap out of me though 😂
Love your Gamma vids! Hope to see another full playthrough!
nothing is more of a vibe than walking through the darkness in stalker, ak74u in hand, retelling goofy airsoft stories hahaha. Love the stalker content.
Even after 1000+ hours this game amazes me with how beautiful and amazing it looks and plays.
I wish more gamers knew about it.
Not that a lot of people know, but many of us are on console. We are patiently waiting, although more than eager.
@@sneakyassassin8517 Yeah, bro, I hope STALKER 2 is as amazing as we hope it will be.
As for Anomaly and GAMMA... Sadly I don't see console players getting their hands on that stuff because they're total conversion mods and homegrown games.
You can't sell 'em or certify them, which means sadly they aren't coming to console.
@_masko_1329 nope.
All we can hope is the people at stalker 2 studio have watched and played these mods amd love the way they looks and play as much as we all do and put it all in the new game
how do you download it?
@@maskoblackfyre stalker 2 wont be anything like anomaly or gamma though
it'll most likely have a very simplified crafting system and no food/sleep drainage
Love your chill GAMMA videos so much, Drewski, thank you
I like this kind of video, with this kind of stories and chatting, this reminds me of my airsoft experience as well)
I've played big week long games with vehicles and night fights, where only a few of us had NVGs, and all were supposed to use trasser attachments - participating this was a strange mix of fear and glory, even if it was just a game.
This game is insane. The environment is possibly the best I’ve ever seen, there is something inherently realistic about it.
lets hope stalker 2 makes us feel the same
absolutely
@@kiritimatiswan1986 release date of stalker 2
@@CPhero82 december
@@CPhero82 they’ve placed December as the holding date as they have too in order to have preorders according to their twitter, I think it might and I really hope it comes out before then tho😭
Delta Force, the 1998 game by NovaLogic was the first time that I ever saw NVGs used in a game. I played so much of that game, but all I can remember of it is using those NVGs to attack an enemy compound located in a valley.
yes, for me its land force warrior, another delta force gamme
Yeah, that was my first thought too. Delta Force 2 was the one I played, and to this day I remember nailing kilometer sniper shots. So far away the enemies were little dots running around lol.
It was the Splinter Cell, I don’t really remember which one it was, but it was the mission in Georgia including some sort of diplomat or politic. Not really sure what exactly it was about, but there was NVG and ability to hang over the balcony on your arms. Also when I think about NVG in the games my favorite series came to my mind - it is Metal Gear Solid, especially the last one. And Metro of course.
The first NVG i can remember of is the old Delta Force: Land Warrior back in the 2000's. The way you could aim and NV changed to scope only in a different poisition on the screen felt amazing back then :)
We definitely need more stalker content. What else am I supposed to fall asleep to at night
fr fr
The first game that comes to mind when you mention night vision is, of course, Splinter Cell. Most other games I can think of like MW2019 and Ghost Recon Wildlands use it as an optional supplemental feature, but not as a core mechanic.
And I absolutely love this format of video, the storytelling aspect makes it feel like you're walking through the Zone with someone and making small talk with them the whole way. Really selling me on this game. I've been wanting to get into S.T.A.L.K.E.R. for a while and I'm finally getting a PC soon, when that does happen I think this might wind up at the top of my games to play list.
I can still remember his whimpers when he first encountered a chimera, now he just goes "A chimera".
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT PEOPLE! CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!
No longer a rookie.
every stalker vid I just feel like I'm watching a stalker recounting his stories to a camera to try to stay sane
Maaaan I really love these chill GAMMA videos I feel like I could fall asleep to them they’re so soothing.
Edit: My earliest NVG memory would probably be watching my mom play the first Splinter Cell game on our PS2
I do remember the Splinter Cell NV not looking as good on the PS2 as it did on the OG Xbox, but that game had the first amazing NVG for sure.
Your mom is cool.
I remember getting my mum to do the lockpicking section in the tutorial. 4 year old me had no clue how to do it
When I think of night vision goggles it comes to mind my first experience with ARMA 2 DayZ mod. Sitting around NWAF with a nightvision and a DMR. I was a crack shot. Looking forward to the next video !
The actual first game that comes to mind when I think of night vision is the first Ghost Recon. I remember seeing my uncle playing the game when I was a kid and one of the first levels is at night and you need NV goggles. I remember the unusual look the game took and how quiet and creepy the level was. There where buildings with lights on and when you took the nvs off you really saw the difference, how dark it was outside and stuff. Good times.
The night vision in the first original non redux Metro 2033 game. Buying the stealth suit before the bridge "frontline" level and having to charge your batteries to power the night vision goggles throughout the sequence was crazy to experience the first time around. Top 10 gaming memories is clearing that level meticulously on the first try without a single alert.
Lol i did frontline no killing for the achievement did u?
@@therealamon I have completed all the achievements in that game, and I'm pretty sure I unlocked both the no killing achievement and the true ending on my first ever play-though on ranger.
@@janjastrzebski1897 hell yeah i think on 360 version i got all achievements me and my brother collectively got em all
@@therealamon Dang, a 360 full clear certainly beats my pc one, I don't think I have ever got all achievements on a 360 game because there are always online ones and I didn't have that growing up.
@@janjastrzebski1897 i think all the 360 achievements are around the same as pc version for the non redux version not sure tho i dont have it on steam
I just started playing stalker for the first time about a week and a half ago. Thank you for showing me this drewski. It’s been the type of game I’ve been looking for, I’m just sad I never knew about this world before
Welcome to the club! Now play gamma and the trilogy! Have fun
@@LuisC7 playing anomaly story right now. Plan to do gamma once I feel comfortable with the world
@@smokeyson436 oh awesome! Hope you enjoy it. Try to learn as much as possible. But beware stalker 2 is much different. Anomaly is kind of a. Hybrid game
@@LuisC7 how will stalker 2 differ from anomaly if you don’t mind me asking? I’ve only gotten to the part of disabling the brain scorcher last night so I feel I still have quite a bit to go.
@@smokeyson436 yes indeed you have! Try to learn as much as you can. Stalker 2 will be less complex than anomaly. Mods nowadays contain thousands of items, crafting, hundreds of guns etc. Stalker 2 isn't like that. It's more simple which I prefer. Mods will do the rest later
Ground branch nvgs are amazing. The latest update brought in quad nods n they're the most realistic nvgs I've seen in a game
I would have to say that these are my favorite vids on your channel. love all the gameplay of gamma! please keep playing it. would love to see another series like the iron man runs you have done
For me, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. First stealth game I played as a child growing up, I got it for one of my birthdays and I was hooked. I can still remember the iconic sound of turning on your NVGs. I always really loved the atmosphere in that game sneaking around
I'm personally a big fan of the visor system from Halo 3 ODST. To me it made understanding ambient light better and the faux thermal outline is awesome. I come from a background of strong pvs-14 usage, your comments about them are spot on.
I loved the ODST visor system. Speaking of thermal outlines, Holosun is making an optic with this technology now. Only a matter of time before they stuff it into a helmet and we see the real deal.
@Falcon On PC it actually exists with nvgs now. The clip on E-COTI and the new ENVG-B has it built in. I've gotten to see live footage through an E-COTI on white phosphor tubes and man it's so cool. We just need digital night vision to evolve. I'm so pumped.
Holy crap, The intro to the video was insane, Can't wait to see the rest.
Yeah, that was dope! Thanks for the video! Nice to see you playing Gamma again.
Love the Stalker Gamma videos!
Halo 3 ODST had one of my most favorite nvg features in any video game by far, the sound it makes when you turn it on is so nice and just the overall ui for it is crisp imo.
Hour long Stalker video, hell yeah! I know it takes a long time to make these videos but I really wish we'd get more Stalker content. I've been hooked on the franchise since 2007 and can't get enough of it. GIVE ME MORE PLEASE. :)
Edit: Invictus run when??
Love chillin' to these vids bro :)
The first game to come to my mind that has night vision in it is probably the Delta Force series, specifically Delta Force: Black Hawk Down. The night vision wasn't anything special for the time but the missions that had them were pretty fun.
Please don't stop making stalker content, there's so much to do, to be creative, with factions, different gameplay styles, etc.
Just love watching you immersed in the zone while chating about random stuff.
cheers
Although I also was scared of darkness as a child, after I started going orienteering at night in forests quite often, even with spooky noises I liked to just turn of the flashlight and embrace the feeling of dark night forest. It's very relaxing for me
I remember being a kid and playing Counter Strike 1.6 and playing CT with night vision goggles and thinking it was really cool, another cool and old game that gave me the vibes, playing with NV, was Conflict: Desert Storm, really cool game that I think it never got the praise it deserved because it was outshined by other major titles of that same year or so.
from someone who's mostly been playing f2p games as a child, the first time I've had nvgs in a game was warthunder :/
most games I've played didn't have night vision as a feature in the game. Stalker gamma was actually the first fps game with nvgs so thanks for making all the stalker videos that got me into it
America's Army v1.78(i think) was the first game I ever remember playing with night vision, it was a squad based shooter the army used for recruiting but the game was actually good back then. I always remember the rag doll effects, they were oddly good for some reason.
Keep doing GAMMA content! You're amazing at it!!!
Literally was thinking "Oh. Perfect Dark!" and then you said it and then told me not to write it down because you mentioned it so here we are...
Thanks for all of the STALKER content - you have been a fantastic contributor to the community that has grown around the game series and related mods.
The first video game NVG that left a memory for me was Operation Cold Thunder in the 96' Rainbow Six.
Stalking towards the outpost as Domingo Chavez.
It is almost exactly 2am at the time of the big jumpscare and I would say you def owe me a new pair of sweats. But it's really because you uploaded a whole HOUR of stalker content and I got too excited.
I can’t stop being impressed by the gun sounds in Gamma. That mechsuit fight was great
Shrike did an amazing job on guns sounds !
Was busy working and got the video running on my other screen, got a nice jump from that jump scare and I wasn't even looking at that moment, the sounds in this game are incredible...
Love this game. It can be so serene and relaxing, especially with the nighttime and the rain. The aesthetic of this game just pushes all the right buttons.
Dreski you really called my ass out with that “I bet your up at 2 in the morning” I’m dyinggggg
"you woke me from my slumber" is content gold
love it so much keep the Stalker videos coming!!!
Halo ODST had my favorite night-vision mode. I love the way it outlined things. That game is one of my favorites of the series, always has been. Still incredibly fun.
First game with nvg I remember is the original Operation Flashpoint. It had the SF missions that gave you night vision. I remember those missions being really hard.
My first memory of NVG was one of the sniper rifles in Red Faction 2 on PS2, i can't recall the exact weapon name anymore. I wasn't overwhelmed by that one, but my favourite was for sure the first Splinter Cell, where it was genuinely useful in gameplay, and well-integrated. Once they also gave you thermal vision, i was over the moon.
Finally! Always glad to see GAMMA on your channel.
The game that comes to my mind when i think of night vision and have vivid memories of is Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2, the distinct noise it made when you just put them on and the typical green hue that came with it just brings back memories
What a nice night walk, listening to Drewski's wisdo OH MY FUCKING GOD MY HEART!!!
What a moment of pure gaming
I loved this so much. I play 'The Zone' modpack currently, because of Nocturnal mutants I don't dare step out of camp at night...
Those Psy Suckers scared the hell out of me ! I was looking close at the screen as you were talking about the NVG details and Bam !
I made all kinds of silly sounds haha !
I was just about to type Splinter Cell, but next second you said it. My memories are from that game, bright memory about those three eyed goggles..
One of the James Bond PS2 games had night vision too.. can't remember exactly tho, long time ago..
I’m in texas too. I pretty much only canoe at night. If you want to see alligators and other wild animals, you have to go out at night. With a good head lamp you can see any animal 100 - 200 m away by their eye shine. Love the stalker vids.
I'd have to say my favorite and first introduction to night vision was Splinter cell Blacklist. Super fun to just hide in a dark hall dangling off a pipe right above someone and no one knows you're there.
Syphon Filter for the PS1 was the first time i used those NVGs. The demo was in a magazine along with Spyro, and Crash Bandicoot i believe. Man what a time to be alive.
For night vision the first game that comes to mind is Rainbow Six Vegas 2. Simply because of how often I played it with my older brother and the memories. Wasn't impressive night vision by any means as it was just a green circle put over your 3rd person camera. But it felt so cool to be "tactical" clearing terrorists with my brother, man I often tell my brother we have to get together and replay vegas 2, army of 2 and a few other games again. Those were such great times
The first game I remember with iconic night vision was splinter cell chaos theory. My dad, brother, and I would play the co op mode on the first xbox, and continued all the way up to blacklist. But chaos theory we would always go back to.
I will admit it is close to 2am as I watch this and ya I jumped a bit in my seat, spilt some coke, was in mid drink, and about had a heart attack with that jump scare. Your first panicked shotgun shot really added to it to lol.
Chaos Theory was, I think, my first game with NVGs. I know it’s not the most realistic implementation, but it got the job done. I do, however, love how a lot of newer games are using a much more realistic implementation for immersion.
First games that come to mind when thinking of NVGs are Stalker shadow of chernobyl, BF2 Special Forces addon, the Metro series and Insurgency Sandstorm. Have fond memories of all of those games. Edit: Needed to mention Soldier of fortune 2 too.
The game(s) that comes to my mind for NVGs is the metro series. Probably weren't my first games that had em but def the ones that had my fav representation of em so far in a bigger game.
Socom for the ps2 had some of my favorite night vision as a kid, I’m not sure if it holds up but I loved those games
Amazing work, as usual!
I've played very little of the series but for some reason Splinter Cell's NV feels like *the* iconic form of night vision in video games to me, from the sound to the visuals to even the design of the headset and its three green glowing lenses.
First exposure to NVGs in video games was this old PS2 game called "Conflict: Desert Storm", following games were SOCOM 4, and CoD MW 2007.
Injecting my own Night story: The only thing that got me scared shitless was waking up around 2 in the morning and listening to moose trudging through the camp.
I don't get scared easily, but the Psysuckers got me almost jumping out of my chair. Great video, didn't think I'd sit through it all but it's that good mate
Favorite game with night vision was (and I swear I thought of it before you mentioned it) was Splinter Cell! Love that series so much and Michael Ironside as the VO for Sam Fisher was so badass!
The OG ghost recon is probably the first game I can remember with nvg. Also the game that got me into milsim in the first places. There’s also conflict: desert storm, but idk if it had nvgs
The way that a dude says about a psysucker AFTER you stumble on it is just gold.
Also my first memory of NV goggles comes back to CS 1.6, a first ever game for me.
I thought of Rainbowsix Vegas when you mention nightvision in videogames, or something in that era of gaming, personally. Great Vid btw!
First game that came to mind for NVGs would be ground branch, they've done very well with their design, though they lean into the "Grit" of NVGs.
The oldest game I remember playing with NVGs would Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, I remember being absolutely wowed by the thermal highlight goggles, and absolutely falling in love with the shooter milsim genre. God I miss that game, still to this day by far one of my favorite games
My best night-vision game nights, was doing Hunter-force with Danish special forces, walking all night with 1998ish mono-goggle, but with gamer-extreme you kinda get used to spot when some pixels looks a bit off.... And BTW... Thank you for all your cool gaming ;)
