  • Sometimes I teach really technical, step-by-step stuff. In this case, though, there's no reason to work harder than necessary. This is a situation where it's nice to lean on YOUR STACK.
    After all, the stack is the stack for a reason!
    So, this video is a little bit of a flex because it shows how to accomplish something relatively technical with just some mouse clicks, thanks to tools like Automatic.css, Frames, Bricks, and WS Form.
    In fact, the relationship these tools have with each other is chef's kiss, if I do say so myself.
    Here's what it includes:
    - Create a testimonials CPT
    - Create a testimonials archive template
    - Create custom fields for the testimonial
    - Create a sample testimonial
    - Replace the static content with dynamic data and loop the testimonial card
    - Add support for dynamic star ratings
    - Add a front-end testimonial submission form so users can add new testimonials (with or without moderation).

      A bit. Love this video. I also love figuring out the nuts and bolts "under the hood" of what I'm doing, so I'd be reluctant to "just use" the tools you have in the stack here, because there are parts that I don't understand. For instance, I'd love to know how to build that star rating for the front-end from scratch.

      @@mr.matt.eastwood I showed how to do the star rating in a video back in the Oxygen days, like 2 years ago. You can find it by searching "star rating" on the channel. I might remake it, though, showing CSS vs JS approach.

    There are too many plugins just to build a site. We can easily build a site with just Bricks, ACF Pro, and WS Form. Why waste clients' money on too many plugins? You're a great teacher, and I really love your content. Sure, you've made a great tool, but now it feels like you're only creating content to promote your tools. Back in the day, you created long tutorials explaining every code step-by-step. That was a great learning experience for all of us. Now, it feels like every video is just a promotion for ACSS and Frames.

      Every video? The last three before this one were exactly the long detailed videos you just said I don’t make anymore.
      Come on man, don’t be a complainer. And definitely don’t bitch about money or tools on my channel. This shit is dirt cheap and insanely valuable. That’s loser mentality.

    Great tutorial video. I keep learning more and more about what ACSS & Frames can do -- I'm loving every new thing I learn. • @Gearyco
      @Gearyco  24 дні тому +2

      The biggest drawback is that other people who try to manage the site won't know where to find how that page is generated. This is a problem with WP's architecture and how it spreads out templating from actual pages, etc.
