From 16 years of UA-cam guitar videos, I have come to the conclusion that this guy is the best teacher for me. Many thanks sir. Coming from Vancouver island.
0:48 True, true and true. Sometimes kids are working on tapping, sweep picking and any number of flashy skills but haven't mastered keeping a consistent rhythm.
I’m a teacher (not music!!) and I have lots of students that are language learners. The hardest thing about fluency is that to be fluent you have to be able to think in the language. When you learn a language you hear a phrase, translate it, formulate a reply, translate it, then reply to it. Which is why I can follow you effortlessly in English. Because I’m fluent in English. The same applies to music. When you think musically, as in you understand the sounds and where they are, etc, then you’re musically fluent. As for me, for instance, I am very familiar with the pentatonic scale, the shapes, licks, etc. and if I have a backing track I can navigate fairly well and sound like I’m pretty good. But I don’t hear and immediately respond. And I don’t have the vocabulary like sus4 etc. it’s still a “what do I want to play, where is it…”. I’m still in the translating part. It’s hard. I can play the physical part pretty good, but I’m not great with the language of music. You do a great job as a teacher.
Good points thank you! Thinking in another language makes sense, and thinking in music ... yeah that actually makes sense too. Thanks for posting that!
I'm getting past intermediate level. Not as fast as I'd like because I've been trying for 4 years and I work way too much. What is helping me is studying scales and using them while learning my favorite songs from different genres. It's really about time for me. I work alot.
Muy bien, aprendiendo español he?? I’ve been following your channel for a long time, definitely I click with the way you teach and how you present the videos, muchas gracias Azul Morris, Im pretty sure you see why I said Azul right? Thanks man.
First off love the videos! Keepnit coming. I can't seem the intervals video you made and I remember you made one at some point!? I'm struggling to find the correct target notes for chords other than the root chord. Fx the iv chord in a song or the v.
Thank you! I think I have a few videos that touch on that. You could try these two might help: Fretboard is a map ua-cam.com/video/Ivngg0yS4jg/v-deo.html Targeting ua-cam.com/video/uayht2xFioo/v-deo.html
Thank you! I haven't done videos on modes yet as I want to get through all these other more intermediate topics first. But I do have a video on arpeggios. I need to do more though. Here's one I did a while ago: ua-cam.com/video/VSgGjqb-zuo/v-deo.html

I agree after five years of UA-cam guitar. This is as good as the internet gets.

Oh and then you went on to say that exact thing. Good minds think alike. lol I always love your vids.
Thank you! Tapping is cool and all, but .... ya 🤣
In my college classes, all of my learning explanations come back to language learning and guitar. So true.
Beginner, intermediate, expert....all that really matters is that you have fun playing guitar!
Very true, well said.
My exact thoughts
"It takes time." That is not said enough on YT lessons. Thanx for the encouragement.
Glad it helped 👍

Blue you're the best! 'Muy dificil' indeed, but it seems you're killing it! 'Muy bien hermano!' 😊
Gracias 🎸
Muy dificil.
After playing for 26 years I am still hoping to achieve the intermediate level.
You can do it!!
This is a very enlightening video. You have a nice way of keeping things real.
Great to hear thank you!
It is such a long journey, that makes it so fun...
Agreed, have fun playing and practicing, that's the main point :)
great lesson. i appreciate the road map
👏👏👏
Thank you! 😎
Informative and well spoken.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thanks, Blue. Don't know if I'll ever get much past beginner, even though I know a lot of the intermediate stuff. For me it comes down to execution.
You can do it! Takes time. As long as you are having fun practicing then you're doing it right!
Great lesson Blue. Think I’m stuck in beginner stage😢. I’m 73 and playing for four years. Maybe I should just play the radio 😂
I exactly where you are!LOL
As long as you're having fun, labels don't matter!

Nice, that's very true. It takes a lot of time playing, and that's not always easy to find that time for sure.
Thank you you are THE BEST

Damn man! Did you just happen to know I’m also intermediate in my Spanish studies too?
Haha está bien. Yo tambien. Todo es para divertido 😀
❤💥
Thank you!
To quote Talking Heads, Stop Making Sense! Seriously, this was some great perspective and advice. Thanks!
Haha thank you! 😁
Just develop your own way of doing it.
There is no universal hierarchy of "levels."
Loads of professional guitarists are lucky if there intermediate lol
That's probably true :)
