Have you ever lost something precious and been looking for days and then suddenly someone comes to you and hands it to you and says "were you looking for this?". Well this lesson made me feel just like that. I'm so glad you made it. Your channel should be 39 million subscriber to be faire. Thanks.
Thank you! The names are good for easy memorizing. You can get a chart of them here if you like www.bluemorris.com/post/pentatonic-shapes-guitar-fretboard
I remember my first guitar teacher wanting me to read music, learn the major scale in all positions and other not so helpful things. I never understood the basics of how music works, like 1 -4 -5 are the major chords! Almost everything I needed to learn is in this one lesson. Love this channel, I always learn something and it puts me in a good mood.
Great! As an intermediate guitarist stuck at that level for 35 years I struggle to find a practice routine outline that works. Right now I’m trying three minutes of spider walk variations for the left hand, move on to cross picking for two or three minutes for the right hand and coordination, then go through my saved UA-cam lessons and/or work on learning songs. It requires a discipline and a timer.
Sounds awesome 👏🏻. Sounds like me too!! Have you ever considered creating content on utube? I can honestly say it’s the best thing I ever did to improve and most importantly, have fun and stay motivated 😁. Good luck 👍.
I think practicing pick direction is important. Some people (many, perhaps) have trouble with it. I used to, back when I played decades ago. But recently, when I started back playing regularly, I was suddenly good with my picking technique! I usually don't even pay attention. When I do, I notice that I change direction often, without even thinking about it, I just do what's required for the passage. Overall, this video was great! I really like the way you introduced all the concepts to practice (BTW, I have replaced my terminology with yours for the pentatonic shapes, lol). I'm going to integrate it with my practice, even though I've been proceeding fairly quickly. I think your method will supercharge my own! Finally, your books are awesome! I've only got the first "solo" book, but i plan to get Vol II. Keep it up, Blue! You're awesome. 👍 👌 🤪
Another great video, because of you 6 months ago I could only play rhythm, now I am playing lead for the first time at a show! Thank you for all your wisdom, you are a great teacher.
1:34 how fast would you say we should be able to run thru the 5 positions? you running thru the Amin Position here, is Blistering quick. also, once I move my hand up or down the neck my thumb doesnt know where or what angle to be
@@GuitarLessonsVancouver all good, I have both. I wish there were links in the book to patreon videos etc. It’s nice having a person guide you through the lessons. I’m currently going down your index in patreon to try and burn in some fundamentals. I have plenty of theory but it’s the hands-on - exactly like this video - that I need to practice.

this could be better if the slow learners benefits from it , it's fancy but too short for slow learners

Agreed. Absolute gold mine of a lesson
This is an incredible lesson. Tons of info all packed into 16 minutes. Well done! And I'm loving the graphics.
Awesome, thank you!
The names you’ve created for the pentatonics have really helped me to learn them

Another fantastic lesson where you connect chords and triads to scales.
I’m loving book 2.
Cheers
Great to hear it! Thanks for getting the book, too!
Wow. After all these years. Just, wow.

Thank you for your support José!!!
Nice lesson. 50k soon
🤞 thank you Scoob!
Great lesson!! It could be cool to have a count for notes on a BPM for the intro. In this video you mixed all the stuff where I'm actually at.
I like your nick names for these.
Thanks! The nicknames do help for memorization

First ....to say.. Thank you for a daily routine
This lesson is brilliant and Im only at 4m 38 seconds so far....
Awesome
Thank you 😎
Lol
I am driving! How ever did you know 🤔
Uh oh, don't play guitar and drive, pull over, give us a riff.
So, you can put silly (and confusing) nicknames to pentatonic shapes, but using 'diagonal pentatonics' is a crime now?🥲
Good point. I hadn't thought of that. Diagonal it is then.
Great lesson! Thank you!
Thank you.
So many layers to this lesson, yet accessible, useful and enjoyable 🙏👍🏼
Glad you enjoyed it! Lots more on the channel

Blue, are you ever going to do a Book 2 for your strumming series? I really liked the first one.
well said .....I HAVE BEEN DOING "PRACTICE OLD LESSONS" for years ....great advice.
Awesome well done! Repetition is key. And sometimes we all forget things and need to go back and refresh :)

you running thru the Amin Position here, is Blistering quick.
also, once I move my hand up or down the neck my thumb doesnt know where or what angle to be
Only do it as fast as you can play it clean with no mistakes. I'm just doing it fast here so viewers to don't get bored watching me play scales :)
Excellent video and explanation. Love your teaching style.
Thank you! Lots more lessons like this on the channel and our Patreon group www.patreon.com/guitarlessonsvancouver
