    Drafting an LT to replace Armstead next season was MIA's No. 1 need. Good free agent LTs are rare and expensive. This was a deep OT draft and gives the pick a redshirt year.
    IOL has not been a *need* since the Dolphins signed LG Wynn, OC Brewer and RG Driscoll. Sounds like Grier wants to upgrade one of the OG spots, but reportedly has a free agent (Risner?) as a backup to accomplish that.
    I suspect the Dolphins would have liked to start their rookie at LG before moving him outside next year to accomplish both of the above goals, but there were only one or two prospects in this RT heavy class which could have pulled that off. PIT snapped up MIA’s best option at 20.
    Paul is a man mountain with elite physical traits, but needs significant work on his technique, especially in run blocking. Significantly, Paul is a three year LT veteran in a class full of RT’s. The Dolphins did a great deal of due diligence on this prospect at the Senior Bowl/Combine and appear to be convinced they can coach him up. Remember, OL coach Butch Barry turned Austin Jackson from a probable cap cut to a RT rock given a contract extension in a single season.

    Good morning fellas, I have been spoiled 276xs and I LOVE this podcast! But between the players drafted on "potential" and my favorite podcast duo coming 😢 to an end I'm not in one of my better moods today. God bless you both and I rarely say that because I'm not particularly religious. Thank you both for your expertise and excellence. I HATE Griers picks it would be different if we were a good playoff caliber team but this team has so many holes and we're not addressing them DT, RG, WR, S. ✌️

    When he was drafted, AJ was profiled to be a better fit in a wide zone blocking scheme, because of his impressive athleticism and physical traits. He was just very raw and needed good coaching. Which it took a while for that to show up.

  • @HawgWyldFishing

    I think the reason they picked Chop is because the gap between the best Tackle left on the board at 21 and what they projected to be left at 55 was much smaller than the gap between Chop Robinson and the best edge guy they projected to be left at 55. And on the plus side, the Paul kid has already been working with the guys at O Line Mastermind, the group T. Stead put together with some other guys around the league to help coaching the big guys up front during the offseason

    I disagree with Chop being a developmental player, he's more raw and inexperienced than the other 3 top edge rushers that went off the board, but he's going to play early and often this season. I don't think we have much of a choice but to play him with the lack of depth at the position. Paul is more experienced, but his technique and fundamentals need refinement, who's to say how quick he can learn and get on the field? I don't see as easy of a path to playing time for him, but it's not out of the realm of possibilities. I wrote this while you guys talked about it, I'm with Poupart that he'll play. Is it also possible the team is going into this season with the understanding that we need to get younger at certain spots, and these young guys are only going to get better and gain experience by actually getting on the field?

    in 2024 you need a 1st down pass rusher, 12 teams passed 60% of time or more on 1st down in 2023. no one ran more than passed. i just question a guy that somehow didnt get sacks in college.

  • @B-ROB803
    @B-ROB803 5 місяців тому

    Nothing is worse than being a middle of the pack team that always just misses out on great players and then reach for a player that won't play instantly. Grier has an alarming amount of busts / mediocre picks. He sucks but keeps on getting a pass.

  • @B-ROB803

    Who cares who they could've drafted. You can play that game with every team. Grier, McDaniel and Weaver got 2 players they targeted and wanted. That's all that matters. The Patrick Paul pick is for 2024, not 2025. Terron missed 7 games last year, 4 in 2022 and 8 in 2021. So, the Big Fella should see plenty of action. I think both picks are Great.
