    I had no idea (for some odd reason) that they got so large. :) Very pretty.

    Great video Jason! Thank you for sharing the tour of your collection! I am struggling a bit with my 2 Neos. One is Nefinetia 'Gojofukurin', the other is Neostylis 'Baby Angel'...also looking forward to the Kokedama class on 12/19. Interesting idea with the 'Jungle Log'... A mount with NZ moss that lasts 10 years? Amazing!

      Oh great to hear this! I've always been curious about other plants that are fragrant 24/7 and I had not thought about those two!
      Best wishes,

    Thank you so much. Excellent video. Beautiful collection. Valuable information. Is there a book for How to Neofinetia growing ? Also do you like coco fiber regarding moisture retention vs Sphagnum moss? Thank you so much.

    Hi Jason, great collection! Love to watch your updates. I have only one neo, it grows really well but doesn't bloom, do you have any tip for me? I live in UK and give it as much sun as i can , south facing window, still not enough?.

    • @OrchidWebTV
      @OrchidWebTV  4 роки тому +6

      MaryG Orchids south facing should be plenty of light. The secret is never allowing the plants to get dry at the roots once spring begins. They need a lot of water to flower well. Being too dry even for one day can cause them to abort the flower spike. Ours get water every 2 days when they are outdoors unless it’s raining. Depending on what potting mix and what type of pot you use, it could go longer than 2 days and be OK, just be sure to not let the potting media dry out completely (in the winter season they can completely dry out, just not spring or summer).

      @@OrchidWebTV Thanks very much for the advice. I think that is probably the reason in my case, since I let it dry too much even in spring & summer. I should try to do this and hopefully to get flower next year. Thanks ever so much again.

    Thanks for sharing. Quick question, have you ever used a plant growing lamp to grow seeds?

    • @OrchidWebTV
      @OrchidWebTV  3 роки тому +1

      Our seedlings are grown in vitro in a laboratory with lights. We use LED T8 tube lights.

    The plants you have in coconut fibre, is there sphagnum around the roots too?

    • @OrchidWebTV
      @OrchidWebTV  3 роки тому +1

      They are in pure coco fiber. Sometimes we wrap moss on the outside and have coco fiber on the inside.

    What level shade clothe do you have them under? I'm a beginner neo grower but I've already fallen in love. Can you recommend an easy going variegated variety that won't break the bank? Thanks so much!

    • @OrchidWebTV
      @OrchidWebTV  4 роки тому +4

      Collin Murray we use 20% shade cloth. That still let’s in plenty of light and all the plants seem to really enjoy it. A good starter variegated type would be Setsuzan, Higashidemiyako or Gekkeikan. I am sure we have Setsuzan available right now. We will have more variegated options throughout the summer as well. Thanks! -Jason

      @@OrchidWebTV thanks! I live in Virginia, where we have very hot and humid summers. My cacti stay under 40% shade and it sounds like neos would do well there, too. Thanks for the recommendations for variegated varieties! Do you know when the website will be updated? I'm excited to get a few!
