Rick - Sting is my favorite musician and your interview was fantastic - wish it were longer.
Love Sting's music. I am 53 years old and have been listening to Sting since the Police back in 1981. Wasn't that great that Rick got that awesome interview? So good.
@@matt8637 only disappointing thing for me - the last few releases from a sting have been subpar for me. His latest is growing on me. Been listening from the beginning and slightly older than you - cheers!
That's what she said!
WOW! Really looking forward to your Tommy Emmanuel interview Rick! 👍👍🎸🎸🎸🎸👍👍
I'm looking forward to your interview with Tommy Emanuel. I've been listening to him for a long time now, he's an awesome musician.
I am getting it. Thank you so much Rick!
Fair enough, I'm going to get this and support your channel. Why? Because you have made content that I have enjoyed that I cannot get anywhere else. Your working knowledge and enthusiasm for all genres of music is remarkable and opened my eyes to artists' work that I would never have encountered without your passion for great music.
Thank you so much for this incredible deal. Looking forward to diving into the ear training modules. I've been watching for years. You are greatly appreciated. 🤘🏼😆
Tommy Emanuel interview?! Let's GO!
For a split second I thought you were going to tell us that you've secured that interview with Don Henley 😁
"Silent Lucidity" by Queensryche and R.E.M.'s "Losing My Religion" was in 91 too.
FORGET Tommy Emmanuel's guitar playing! (Which BTFreakingW is out of this world!) The absolute JOY this man projects through his music completely blew me away from the very moment I first caught one of his performances via an online video some years back. In my simple view of things... his excellent guitar playing is simply an outgrowth of someone with extreme sincerity for music making as well as being a genuinely kind & caring individual. After THAT... everything else is merely details - - including his power house ability playing guitar like nobody else on the planet!
Couldn't have said it better man.
Greetings from Turkey!
you're awesome Rick, Happy Thanksgiving!
I'm in for the full boat!
Tommy Emanuel is insane! A true virtuoso.
Thank you, Rick!
Tommy and Beato, Union of Titans!!!
I got to see Tommy with Jerry Douglas. The best guitar player paired with the best dobro player. A completely awesome concert.
Tommy’s not bad for a drummer. Hahaha good to see a fellow Aussie on your channel and his brother Phil (RIP) was a great guitarist as well.
YES! Video with or on Nuno!!
Not clear how to give bundle to someone as a gift, but I will try.
I was afraid the "huge announcement" might be Rick's retirement! LOL
It's almost as if it's intentional clickbait.
Clockbait???
What about Paul Weller, number one albums in five decades influences as broad as Stockhousen and The Kinks. Multi instrumentalists, incredible songwriter and performer.
Rick, wonder if you could find out more about Harold Young the guitarist for Rusty Bryant in the great album Friday Night Funk for Saturday Night Brothers....couldn't find any info about him...I love his playing.
Rick, I have a suggestion. Can you try and recreate the drum sound that is on Elton's Capitan Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy. To me I've never heard another drum sound like that on any other album. Sounds so unique. Would love to hear your thoughts
Fantastic album - agree Rick must analyze !
Not unless he can sample old mics, old drums many overdubs of other drums. Understand?
@@RICKROCKERTHEORIGIONAL maybe not recreate but I would love to hear a breakdown
@John Wolf...I agree.

One producer said to use book shelves full of books as sound deadening in your studio. You will look very smart as well.
Hi Rick I don't know if you are gonna read. I've wanted to buy both your courses (I already purchased your Beato book) but always too expensive for my wallet....thank you a lot. I already purchased the bundle. Thank you very much
Tommy’s one of those guys who if he ever lost a guitar he’d just grow a new one.
Even Chuck Norris can't do that!
7 days so many ways.i cant run away..
Rick, perhaps in 2022 you can interview some bassists and also talk a bit more about theory of rock bass, blues bass, etc.
Leland Sklar!! 50+ years of studio and touring.
Any chance of you interviewing The Edge?
KING!! 👑❤
I know it's a bit out of your wheelhouse, but a retrospective on the life and work of Sondheim would be great, because you'd really understand his music and what he was trying to do.
You're having me on your show to talk about imperfect pitch? I am delighted!!
Are all those guitars in the back in temperature control
Good afternoon, what are your thoughts on the music of American blues musician and songwriter Robert Johnson?
Hey Rick, How about interviewing Eric Clapton, Roger Waters and James Taylor?
The music sensei.
Beato be like... "Huge Announcement! I finally discovered the music of Styx!" -----> Psych !!
Alright, Rick, (from another Rick) I'm giving it a shot. Hope it's good for an old dude trying to music up.
Ringo Starr
mY favourite Beatle
🔸✨🥁☮️✌️
Hey Rick, just curious-are you a fan of Van Morrison or Nick Drake?
Have your heard of Don Ross?
Hey Rick, have you ever tried reaching out to Tommy Emmanuel?
I thought he joined 100thieves for a second
I love Rick’s “What Makes This Song Great?” Series. I would be simply overjoyed if he was to extend that concept to entire albums in the same vein as the TV series Classic Albums.
Hey Rick, everything you do is so professional and buttoned down...EXCEPT your livestream launch. Easy fix. Make yourself a splash screen for the livestream, and show THAT in that first 8 seconds. Then switch to yourself. Mo more deer in the headlights. If you don't have one, get yourself and Elgato Streamdeck. Makes such things a snap.
Sreamdeck fucking rocks.
@@Jem544 Rick mentions it a lot, it seems to bother him. It’s awkward not knowing if your show has started. Offering solutions friend!
ha ha, good idea!
Great
Rick! Waiting for you to review "Get Back"... I'm dying to hear your take. I thought it was PHENOMENAL!!
I agree ive been raving about it every chance i get since last night.
Christmas came early for sure!
How about a salute to Zappa show?
Rick. Silverchair. Diorama. What makes this album great.
THANK YOU! Give that man a cookie!
EVERYTHING is great about this album!
*_YES!!!_*
*_Daniel Johns was 22 when he wrote those songs! Also, the liner notes directly state that NO AUTOTUNE was used in the production of that album!_*
Love that album 👌
Agree
Thank you for this, Rick!! So generous!! 🙏🙏🙏 By the way, LOVED the Sting interview!! WOW! That was fantastic. Is it possible to get Tom Scholz for an interview? He's a legend!! So far ahead of his time... would love to see him discussing music with you. 🔥
I have a lot of old Rockman gear. Hope he talks about that stuff. 🤓
I have been a fan of Tommy Emmanuel since 1997. I have seen him live twice. And yet somehow, I am still not completely convinced he actually exists. I adore many guitarists for many reasons, but I do not think any of them make it look as utterly effortless as he does. He is just the consummate, ultimate performer and I have never heard anyone say a bad word about the man. You are right about his arrangements Rick; in spite of the mind blowing complexity, there's always a simple, memorable melody at the heart of each song that sometimes even a plebian like myself can pick along to. Good instrumentals tell a story without saying a word. You should think of the title and think "Of course that's the title." And Tommy hits that target with near perfect accuracy.
@eye light last time I saw Phil was at a coffee shop in QLD complaining about the price. Sounds about right!
Hey Rick, do you know who Rik Emmett is? I think he is deserving of you mentioning him to your audience, he is an excellent guitarist that has done recordings in several different styles from rock to blues to folk to classical to pop, he was the lead guitarist and singer of Triumph back in the 70's & 80's, great songwriter, and I just think people should know about one of my all time favourite musicians
On every Triumph album, Ric played a classical piece. Yup, an under rated player.
Rik Emmett would be a great interview!
Rick knows pretty much everything about music that can be known, including who Rik Emmet is.
Rik is also a music educater who works(or did?) at Humber College in Toronto.
Midsummer’s Daydream
Petite Etude
Rick, I would love to hear you talk about Nels Cline.
14:10 - Excellent point about Studio Acoustics and Angled Walls. In most cases people can't afford a total build to get acceptable results, and overall Room Volume is the killer of smaller spaces, especially regarding the ever-critical Bass Response (smaller=worse). Modular Acoustic Treatment (Velocity, + Pressure-based Absorbers) are the most assured way to go in this ever shrinking, costly Real-Estate era. Most problems with Speaker Boundary Interference Response, and a plethora of other problems can be resolved best with the right choices of Acoustic Treatment + Room Compensation Software + Phase Aligned Sub-Arrays. That's my humble opinion after studying Studio Acoustics and doing several builds or calibrations over the last 11 years.
Can't wait to see the Tommy Emmanuel interview. Tommy and his brother Phil were in a band named Goldrush. They use to both play on the one guitar, unbelievable and we are talking maybe late 70's. Unbelievable showmanship.
I've seen a video somewhere on UA-cam with that.
I saw Tommy, Phil, and Mal Eastick in concert in QLD. Was so good that by the end I forgot to cheer. Was just stunned into silence.
Would have been amazing. These guys got really good cause they played all the time all over the country. They really got to learn to play and be showmen.
I thought you'd announce you're pregnant as Elizabeth Zarhoff did 😂😂😂
How about an interview with Judy Collins while she is still with us? She was around all the greats, had some on her show, dated Stephen Stills, wrote some wonderful songs. And you don't do nearly enough about women musicians!
I first worked for Tommy when he was the Drummer in Goldrush . His older brother Phil (rip) was on guitar . I later had the privilege to work as on stage engineer for Tommy . Because he didn’t sing you could really crank the acoustic on stage without feedback . Also one of the nicest people I’ve worked for .
That would have been an amazing experience seeing them play. I don't think I was old enough to see them live however I believe I have a live album of Goldrush.
Tommy is a PRICELESS GEM of a human!! I recorded many clips (on my channel) of a Masters Class I attended... his stories and playing and arrangements are absolutely MIND BLOWING!!
Should try to meet with Phil Collins!
alex and geddy please !!!!! and david gilmour!!"
Nice bundle! In that website you say you wrote your book 20 years ago. 1989 was 32 years ago though!
Hello Rick, i keep trying to ask this question through contact on the website but it doesnt allow me to get pass the robot confirmation to send it through.
Does the ear training program also cover individually just the 7 notes and their sharps and flats, cdefgab and the notes in between?
Rick do a bit on this girl Elise Trouw , (UA-cam) Lots of people bag on new artists coming up like there is no one good anymore, at least for sure in the main stream, but just take a peak at her stuff. would love to see you reaction to it.. I'm kinda floored with her multi talent abilities as i'm also impressed with yours .
I played guitar 50 years ago. This is a screaming deal so I bought it to support this excellent channel and Rick’s work. The interviews are very good and if you don’t like to watch ads send him some cash.
Rick told people to skip those ads because he makes very little off them it's not worth it.
Thank you Rick for putting this together and following your passion for music. I'm homeschooling my two son's who are 7 and 5 and I wanted a good course for myself and them. Edit: I just purchased and guys,..... IT IS AWESOME! Totally worth it.
Hey Rick, the Sting interview was really fantastic. Would love You to have Mike Campbell and Bentmont Tench 👃👃👃 All the best for You and Your family. You are a great educator.
Jesus Jones released "Doubt" in January 1991. AiC released "Facelift" in 1990. But other greats from 1991 were Ozzy's "No More Tears", GnR "Use Your Illusion 1/2", U2 "Achtung Baby", and Petty's "Into the Great Wide Open"
I was just playing a song on the piano and it has 17 different major or minor chords. Rise, by Herb Albert, a trumpet instrumental. The 2 guys that wrote this created a masterpiece! And the groove in the background is awesome and supports all these chord changes seamlessly! I am into music trivia, like how many times did Bill Withers say 'I Know' in a row? 26! It's a lot, I know! You have the best music-based You Tube out there. Keep up the good work!
"Rise" is indeed a masterpiece (it's now playing in my head).
Well-spotted!
I think 4 or 5 "I know"s would have been sufficient!
Hold my beer........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................ Yep, 26! OK!
And "Rise" was famously sampled by Biggie Smalls.
@@BassByTheBay Yes, I forgot about that. Just listened to it again on YT. Great stuff.
Get David Gilmour on
Just 2 min in and I already took advantage of the deal. I feel like I just signed up for a gym membership...🧠💪🎼🎵🎶
Dear Rick, please react to An Evening With Silk Sonic
Saw Tommy in our local small town hall here in NZ a few years back, probably about 100 people in the audience, total professional, it was like he was playing to 10,000 and his life depended on it. One of the best concerts I've been to, got a signed copy of his promo poster in my studio.
Super excited about the Tommy Emmanuel. I live here outside Nashville in Franklin and watching him live is mesmerizing. There are virtuosos, and there is genius. Tommy is pure genius.
Check out the Tommy interview where he talks about Lenny Breau. Incredible.
Hi Rick. Have you ever done anything analysis-wise, on Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker or David Crosby.
I especially believe David Crosby's CROZ album has got to be one of the best albums ever!
Rick, aside from flying a banner plane above your property, I'm inclined to ask, why are you avoiding The Smiths? You've covered their contemporaries: The Cure, Jeff Buckley, XTC; but nothing regarding The Smiths. Surely, at the very least, Jonny Marr is of some interest to you?
Sincerely,
A beggar
Waiting for Spotify and Apple music top rock and metal charts!
America's Least Wanted by Ugly Kid Joe was also released in '91. A truly underrated band. Would love to hear you do a what makes this song great for one of their song's.
Hi Rick you probably get a million and requests for "What makes this song so great" but please do Mothers Pride by George Michael
It's so emotional. Man was a genius
Just bought the bundle , great channel great teacher now where do i start !?
I loved the Sting video. You gotta do a WMTSG of Big Wreck and a video on Ian Thornley
Tommy Emmanuels new version of Somebody That I used To Know is real good too. Love that song. Great cover.
Good job getting Tommy on! Looking forward to the interview.
Bought the package for my son who is a guitar player. I’m an old drummer just looking to support the channel as I think you’re the best thing on UA-cam and without peer
Can’t wait for the Tommy Emmanuel video! Will be seeing him at the Tarrytown Music Hall on December 13th!
Your channel is great but incomplete: it needs an in-depth review of ABBA including interviews with Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson. The perfect time is NOW. Their history has not been massive in the US, which makes them less known in our country. However, they have a massive influence over many musicians known to you.
Hi Rick...I can,t believe it! TE is one of my all time favourite guitarists, I saw him in South Australia quite a few years ago and have thought for some time it would be amazing if Rick did a TE interview then this morning I jumped on your channel and saw your Black Friday Sale and thought yes I,m buying that, then you announced your interview with TE and I was absolutely stoked! I got excited like a little kid again, can,t wait for it. PS your Beato content is amazing thankyou and I,m going to let my muso mates know about it so they can buy it too.
Great channel mate..loved the Peter Frampton, Pat Metheny and Sting interviews!
Rick, I am STOKED you have TOMMY EMMANUEL!!! HE IS THE BEST!!!!
Bye the way Rick what´s your opinnion about the Beatles documentary called Get Back ?
I got a new jazz piano student. First resource I gave him was the Beato Book. It's so comprehensive.
plz do I keep forgetting by Michael McDonald on what makes a song great
I saw Tommy in Clearwater and he was beyond outstanding. I was just totally blown away. World class player.
I would love to buy this…..but I’m simply not on that level yet. But I would just buy it to support you Rick, because you’re giving us so much joy and entertainment.
Rick.. I've learned so much from this UA-cam channel.. I'm mostly interested in the ear training stuff, but I bought it more to support your channel. Awesome stuff.
Rick, pleeeeease tell my girlfriend, Danielle that you don't film on a green screen set then add the studio background digitally. We've been arguing about it for months. I had to sleep on the couch last night, it got so heated. Your videos are bloody brilliant. x
Rick, I know almost nothing about music. But I just bought your Black Friday Special for $99.00. Let me request you interview... ...I am afraid to admit most of my favorites have passed away... ...Al Pitrelli? Garth Brooks? Eric Clayton? ABBA? Bob Dylan? Eminem? Neil Young? John Mellencamp? Carlos Santana? Willie Nelson?
Rick: can you do a réaction video on the band Clown Core (suggested song: computer). This band is insane! Very out of the box creators. You will not regret it.
I am surprised Rick isn't on Nebula yet....
Rick, i would think of myself an amateur musicologist. I have been listening to all music since I was 6. Doobie Brothers "Black Water" is always in my head. Now my brother who is a true musicologist and has a PHD and 2 masters has an opinion of my music likes Oingo Boingo. Is that crazy? Just to make it more painful for you my dad grabbed me out of school to see the Police in the Orange Bowl. Was Oingo Boingo better than the Police?
Rick we need your take on the Get Back documentary!
Rick, will you make a video on Klaatu? They are one of my favorite bands, and I'd be very interested on what you have to say on them.
I don't care what exactly the video is on, but please keep it brief on how people thought they were the Beatles.
I want a video on their genius and not on how they sound relatively like another band. (Though I don't even feel Klaatu sounds like the Beatles).
I will ask continuously until a video comes out. Thank you in advance.
Rick! Does Blue Oyster Cult fit into one of your videos? Not someone I listen to a lot but I'm curious if they fit into "what makes this song great" or "seemingly easy song that's not."
Yes!! Racer X - Godzilla !
Why don’t you start your own label? You can use your platform to promote artists you produce or sign. 🤷♂️
Hey Rick! I've bought and used your ear training and the Beato Book, is there a discount for the other two for previous buyers?
