    • @gjj6331
      @gjj6331 6 років тому +42

      BipolarBear, neither.
      He didn't cut as he made his way back over the curbs which count as part of the track. The overtake was clean. In fact, with his track position all he had to do was lock up a little more and then he could have probably cut the chicane all together, first time is generally just a warning if there's no avoiding it.
      Watching the race the 'keep future overtakes clean' remark came a few laps after this overtake. It was right when Max was pushing on his new tyres and closing in on Hülkenburg fast. I feel that the race engineer was letting him know not to take unnecesary risks overtaking Hulkenberg (or anyone so late in the race). More of a 'p9 is fine mate, no point risking a crash for p8' than a reprimanding.
      All of Max his overtakes this race were great, the 2 moves on Sainz did come near the line but never crossed it. However, we all know how ..excited.. Max can get, especially when he's quick, which is why the remark by his engineer was a smart one.

      That shows your lack of understanding. For you he just had little less power, in reality when he lost MGU-K it completely changed his race. Not only he was loosing between 2 and 3 seconds of performance per lap but also had to manage tyres, fuel and brakes in completely different manner. He was loosing massively on the straights so he had to push harder in the corners to recover some of that lost time and keep Vettel further behind before next straight. That creates much more temperature on tyre surface and with such sensitive tyres overheating can kill the rubber. He could only use 6 gears which means he had to lift at the exit of the tunnel, also not having MGU-K means there is no dynamo on rear axel to slow down the car recovering energy at the same time. That puts more load on rear brakes and causes stability issues.
      For you all he had to care about was to keep Vettel behind using characteristics of the track but in reality he had to manage several different things at the same time making sure he doesn't miss gear or lock brakes as this could cause further complications.

    • @pcdispatch
      @pcdispatch 6 років тому

      He did not have to care about Vettel. Vettel was slower even when Ricciardo had problems with his cars. Secondly, do you really think Vettel would have passed Ricciardo when he was faster? Don't think so.

    • @mgecko2959
      @mgecko2959 6 років тому +4

      my name what? When was Ricciardo faster after he lost his MGU-K ??? At the restart where Vettel struggled to get tyres into temperature and that's it. As soon as trouble hit Daniel's car Vettel was instantly on his gearbox from 3 seconds behind and catching him on that super short straight.
      Vettel was managing his tyres and waiting for the later stages. Taking the risk wasn't necessary straight away since Ferrari knew Daniel had issue with car. So in fact they were hoping that Daniel will retire in which case they don't have to risk overtake on that tight track. Daniel was lucky that VSC came out in the window where Vettel probably would try to overtake and after restart there was Vandoorne between them plus Vettel's tyres were not up to temps. Also Ferrari didn't expected ultras to fall of so quickly in dirty air, that's why Vettel was pacing himself. With arguably 2 seconds faster car and with extra power modes Ferrari has it wouldn't be impossible for Vettel to overtake. They just waited too long.
      That doesn't take away from great drive that Daniel delivered, again with such a big issue many drivers wouldn't even complete 50 laps he had left not to mention control the pace, manage tyres, fuel and brakes without major part of the car working that influences all of above in significant way and all of that using only 6 gears. It takes certain style of driving to nurse engine and gearbox for 50 laps on such an unforgiving track where you need 100% of your focus on driving through corners.

    • @peeagez4381
      @peeagez4381 6 років тому

      i think you kinda overestimate what he actually did. He did avoided a gear yes. He lost power yes. But they ran full speed at those places where an overtake could occure. Like the traction into tunnel section and pit straight. If he wouldnt have problems he wouldve been gone anyway. But Hamilton and Vettel wouldve pulled this off easily because its monaco and the dirty air this year on a track that doesnt cool down tyres is high. He deserved the win 100%. He had much luck that this happend in monaco. Like i said. Every other track he wouldve been dropped to p5 - p8 maybe but the RedBull was the quickest this Year in monaco and they did a great job managing these issues troughout the race

      When did Vettel ever actually get close enough to overtake? VET admits in the post-interview he just couldn't quite catch him even with no MGU-K. Even if Monaco had 10 overtaking positions per lap, Ricciardo still would have won through excellent nursing of his +1 gap to P2.

    Man, i know its well-intentioned but for the driver to shift their focus from the track, car, other racers & at those speeds - to try & comprehend and then think about the story thats going to be told... Even for a split sec can prove costly

    • @mgecko2959
      @mgecko2959 6 років тому

      Don't really understand your comment. Drivers communicate with race engineers constantly during the race. I don't think they were about to tell Daniel some kind of story, they were most likely about to suggest engine mode or something simular that might have helped Daniel but since he felt in control he said he got it at the same time giving engineer hint he needs to focus on them last laps. Completely standard behaviour from team, race engineer and Daniel.

    • @MrAykut23

      mxrtxo well im Alonso's fan since his days at Minardi and even though I really support other teams, potential engine manufacturers joining F1 I don't think it would be right match up for Nando. Maybe for Porsche it would be perfect introduction to F1 having such a fast and experienced driver but I don't think I could watch him struggle for 1 or 2 points in another team for several years.
      Honestly? I would like to see next season Ricciardo moving to Ferrari, Sainz going to RBR and Alonso going back "home" to the team he was most successful with. He doesn't have a chance for the seat at Ferrari, RBR or Mercedes at this stage and I believe that in next few years Renault will be the 4th best offering Alonso best chance of all remaining teams to achieve something

    Oh yeah, dear F1. Please stop it with the ridiculous interviews during celebrations. You ruin spontaneous euphoric moments of drivers. They are happy, jumping around and going into the arms of their teams but you put a mic under their nose.
    I don't care about the generic interviews. Save the interviews for post podium or just do the pressconference. I honestly don't care about interviews and I think many people share this opinion because the interviews are always the same and super generic. People would rather see the drivers be happy, running around and jumping on their team. Some moments of true happiness. I don't need the PR mode after the race.
