I start Taxol a week from Tuesday! I breezed through The Red Devil until treatment #4. I could not believe how tired I was while still being awake! Thank you for your video. Well spoken, clear, intelligent. Hope you are well.
Oh my goodness! I am overwhelmed just listening to all the variables and options etc. You are very generous to share your experience, I am sure you are helping others in a similar situation. Prayers for healing and strength.
OMG, you poor thing. I'm so sorry you had to go through that... sounds horrific. And it sounds so scary to go through it again. Praying it goes well for you. Hugs.
I hope I dont have any issues with any of the chemo drugs. I want to get it over with and be cancer free so I can live my life with my two little kids #crying
What a journey! On the upside if you are going to have a severe allergic reaction being at the hospital is the best place. Hopefully you can finish the chemo before surgery. Thank you for the update. Stay strong and positive
I had the exact same issue with Taxol. The preload drugs and extremely slow drip worked for me. I remember the reaction being very scary! Hang in there!❤️
I think because I watch Romee and Tia, that they recommended your channel to me. This stuff is soul crushing for myself, I can only imagine how strong you have to be to endure this. You have no idea how brave and incredible you guys are to me! Praying for the very best outcome for you! 💚 Really Praying next time is much easier!
I was allergic to taxol too, within the first 15 seconds - extremely scary (1 in 5 are allergic I was told). they tried a restart after 2 hours, same exact reaction (fire face/ears; whites of my eyes disappeared to blood red; intense lower spine pain and everything I looked at was bright white) - my sister witnessed and was freaked out. I got sent home and they switched to taxotere (sister or cousin to taxol)...my other drug was carboplatin from which I have permanent hearing damage. I feel you woman!!! Hang in there warrior!!
Thank you for sharing. I also have TNBC, and today was my first day of Taxol. I also had a bad reaction to it and in was indeed SCARY and filled with tears. My reaction started within 20 minutes and it was all of a sudden. It started with my vision going fuzzy like I was seeing stars, chest tightness and shortness of breath, hot flash, dizziness and sweats. My nurse and the other nurses were great and acting immediately. Stopped taxol and gave me benadryl. The whole experience was so overwhelming, for me and hubby.
I’m sorry you had to go through that. I hope your doctors can work it out for you so you can get through it. I had to go with a different drug but I’m thankful I was able to continue with chemo as that was what really killed my cancer and got me my PCR (pathological complete response).
I was so sorry to hear about your allergic reaction.i hope and pray your next attempt goes a lot better for you.stay strong.i will be thinking of you.take care Catherine.👍👍👍
I realise this vid is 2 odd years old but I hope you are doing ok. Im on taxol for ge junction cancer stage 4. I have had 6 months on it after 18 months on FU5. I found the taxol breilliant in the beginning but now having to have a decent break due to side effects. In saying that it has shrunk the tumours, so can eat again. Anyway I wish you all the very best
I did AC and TAXOL and it kicked my butt!!! I did better with AC then Taxol. 1 year out I still have issue with neuropathy. I had 1 dose for 12 weeks. I didn’t get out of bed for three days every week. You seem strong you got this. I recommend ice packs on fingers and toes!!!
Don't stop the ice in the beginning because you don't get the finger pain. It comes around infusion 6-8. And it hurts! Get a port. It saves a lot of pain.
Exactly Same 100% Treatments For Me Catherine. Just finished my last AC #4 Monday a cpl days ago and start my Taxol for 12 weekly treatments on the 19th of December. Very nervous, was also informed of the likelihood of shivers during treatments and the icing on the fingers and toes. Very much appreciate your video and your courage and strengths and would love to hear how you are doing now, today, Dec 2023? 😊🙏🫶🤗❤ if you made it out successful and cancer free? 🎉❤ Much Love Beautiful you! 😍
Sending well wishes and prayers. I went through the same allergic reaction to taxol. You describe exactly what I went through. I felt the same as you as far as what my face looked like. I was as red as a boiled lobster! My vision was closing in on me and I felt like I was gonna die. Luckily intervention happened quickly. So I was given Taxatere as my replacement for the Taxol and all went well. I did have anxiety wondering oh gosh! What’s gonna happen now with this other drug. My nurse was incredible and kept me from focusing on the treatment. Praying for you that your next treatment goes well. Hugs, Max
Welcome back dear friend Apologize for nothing You are amazing by keeping on top of everything I’m sorry you had a bad time Green is a good colour on you Hugs from Jordan
Having my port put in was not uncomfortable at all. Makes a big difference and I know what you mean about weak veins. Before you go for bloodwork drink a lot of water. Bless your hearr
Doctors should be required to take drugs and treatments at least once. And assuming that they are well, if the drugs make them sick, then they can figure out what it will do their sick patients....make them sicker 😢
I'm on a 3 weeks on, 1 break week for 4 cycles of Taxol (and carboplatin) for uterine caner plus recurrence to peritoneum. total 12 infusions. They give me 4 pre drugs and I've had them slow them down (benedryl) as the taxol gives me restless legs. I also have breakouts of hives on my arms and hands and flushed face on day 2 from the steroids). :( I'm 1/2 way through treatment. the first cycle was fine, the second cycle I was more tired and this last 3 weeks I have been extremely tired. I hope they are able to get yours under control.
I will never understand why they need to almost kill us, to cure us. I have just refused all chemo. I. Trying one dose of Keytruda ( Immunotherapy). I’ll see how I do. It’s definitely not fair for all of you young people. It seems mostly women. I’m an old lady so it’s not like I have a young family to care for.. I sure wish you all the best of luck that you’re cured. I will be thinking of you.❤️
My teams used ultrasound ( portable) to find a vein in my arms to put canula in. Very effective. Now I've opted for a port. Lot easier for all. Chemo thickens veins so US was good. I'm in Australia 🇦🇺.
I also had an allergic reaction to taxol albeit solely tightening in my chest. They gave me more pre medicine beforehand and a slower drip of the taxol and I had no further reaction the rounds thereafter. Good ol’ taxol paxol. Good luck. 🙂🙏
I started taxol yesterday and 25 minutes in my chest started to lock up, throat started to tighten and my breath became short. They had to stop the infusion 😢
Wife started chemo last Friday the 11th, felt good the next day,but two days in hit a brick wall so sick, her bones are hurting her and her back so much pain, not sure what we do,but shes not having anymore its killing her.
Many people are allergic to the preservative or additives and not the actual drug. Experienced it myself. Extra steroids given prior to going in for chemo, solves the problem!
😊Forget to mention A Port can be left in for a VERY long time. Pick Line Not so much. Again just my opinion and based on what my oncologist nurse told me. * I'm not a doctor or nurse * just sharing my experiences, Thoughts* & my story 🙏😇
Fingers crossed that everything works out fine. You mentioned in another vid that you had fertility treatment. Do you think that this treatment caused your breast cancer?
Thanks Inge. I do not think the fertility treatments caused the cancer. Especially since my cancer isn’t hormone receptive. I have triple negative breast cancer which means estrogen, progesterone and the Her2 protein are not a factor. I wondered that too originally but now I don’t think it played a part at all and hopefully when the Cancer is beat, I can return to my fertility clinic.
Alexa, it has not. I have some lymph node involvement but thankfully all my other scans came back clear. I had a bone scan, CT and MRI and besides my right breast and a lymph node no other signs that it has spread.
How is she doing? Im on Taxol and Hepacin(?) Not much happened, then they upped it double time and im losing my hair and have slight tingle toes. No muscle pain, im arthritic so thats another issue. Mostly im hoping my WBC stays in the range so i can finish up! They give me a steroid which is clever, i react more to the steroid, and work gets done!😂
Cathy - hated to hear the problems that you had with your last appointment. So glad that you are remaining so positive.....you are someone to be admired for your strength and courage. Praying for you. xoxo

So sorry you had that reaction. Fingers crossed the meds for the next one do their thing!
Thanks John.
Praying for you! I will be starting Carboplatin, Taxol, and Keytruda this week so please pray that I don’t have a reaction!

Omg, I need to take this drug too and I am so scary. I will talk to my doctor.
Taxol is the common drug used. I just happened to have a bad reaction. Most people are fine on it. Good luck. I’m sure you will do well.
P.S I spotted a little fluffy tail walking by your bed
Good eye. That would be Jackson. She’s made an appearance in a couple of my videos.

That’s practically shorts weather here in Toronto. 😁.
Praying that you don't have a reaction this time.
