Not to be that person but a lot of time Craigslist ads are puppy mills aka backyard breeders, if they’re not akc registered, or if they sell a variety of breeds, they’re a puppy mill, I rescued all my animals and they’re amazing! Highly recommend adopting ❤ (also he mentioned getting his kitten at 4 weeks, backyard breeders often sell puppies/kittens too young before they’re weaned, if they’re less than 8 weeks that’s an irresponsible breeder!)

My rabbit was a “craigslist rescue” and I thought I was just rescuing an animal that was no longer wanted by kids, but it was actually a family that bred too many rabbits for their cousins; the rabbit couldn’t even jump! They were still planning to have ANOTHER litter! At least I didn’t pay for my sweet boy 🐰
I literally paid $20 for my dog. He’s a beagle maltease poodle mix and he’s the best dog ever! Affectionate, very well behaved, so smart, and energetic! He’s 8 this year but you would never know it, he still has the energy of a puppy.

Most places don’t have the resources to do it though. They do a screening and ask about other animals and people in the house and ask to meet them at the shelter, but if they want the animal adopted- they just have to hope for the best: especially at the APL here in Cleveland they have -100$ to have someone go check out every home for every animal it’s just not possible unfortunately
You know, I didn’t consider that and I appreciate you brining it to my attention! However I do know Annie adopted Randy in LA County and we are generally fortunate enough to have those resources. She obviously just didn’t know that’s how the system works in some areas.
