Shadow of Intent is my personal favorite band atm. The album this is off, Melancholy, is possibly my favorite album of all time. It combines elements of deathcore, black metal, progressive metal, and symphonic metal into this crazy concept album that sort of plays out like a horror movie. Basically it’s about this demonic goddess called the Gravesinger who hates humanity and curses them with a plague of mass suicide. The protagonist is introduced in track 4, Underneath a Sullen Moon (my favorite song on the album, and a song that has some of my favorite lyrics of all time), whose narrative begins with them giving into the curse and committing suicide. Oudenophobia is the next song, and they wake up in what I basically perceive to be purgatory, causing them to question their religion and reject the Christian God. From there they reject their fate in purgatory, and seek out this deity of sorts who grants them passage to the over world in exchange for them repenting for all their wrong doings as a mortal (I believe at least). The catch however is that upon their revival, they are immortal and retain the same timeless existence they would have had in purgatory. The deity then opens the veil, allowing them to return to earth. They find it desolate of life, as all of humanity had been wiped out by the gravesinger’s plague. The album ends with them being forced to roam this desolate earth for eternity. There are some elements of the story that are up for interpretation, but the basic just is pretty much widely agreed upon from the looks of other comments. There are also some really interesting parallels with depression and faith, making it an album filled with depth. Would highly recommend checking out the whole album in your spare time, but if you wanna do more reactions I would suggest the singles: Barren and Breathless Macrocosm, Malediction, and Embracing Nocturnal Damnation. Each of them make for good reactions and represent different sounds in the album.

I just saw these guys back in January and they played this song and killed it! As far as the subject matter goes, it's part of a concelt album revolving around depression, life, and death. I believe this song is after the protagonist commits suicide and ends up in purgatory. Overall, it's a dope album and my AotY for 2019. Absolutely love these guys and recommend you guys check out more of their stuff. This is their first concept album, their two previous albums and first EP all revolve around Halo lore. 1

You guys were opinionated at the start of the video. That changed as you hear the song. Your words became uncertain and hollow. Just like the song. Powerful
