Many consider these myths to reflect the invasions and conquest of Ireland (and other territories) by subsequent waves of people with their own preferred gods. Demonizing the previous inhabitants of a conquered land, while deifying the conquerors if they are of your own people, is a pretty common human practice.
Wow. That was quite impressive video about Lugh The Irish God of Light. 0:37 Wow. Lugh was quite skills blacksmith. 1:07 Lugh and warriors against monster and defeated. 1:28 👏 They have won of light over darkness. Thanks to Lugh to lead them victory. Lugh will became a solar deity warrior, blacksmith, medicine, Patron of the druidic arts and of many other elements. Now that was a great story of Lugh The Irish God of Light.
Balor always reminded me of Sauron in the myth that I am familiar with. Not only was he associated with a terrible eye but he had nine servants. I think it may have been inspirational to Tolkien. Whethor subconsciously or not.
What you neglected to mention that Lugh was 1 of 3 brothers. Balor suceeded in killing 2 of them when they were babies while Lugh was cleverly hidden, just like Zeus was from his father in the Greek myths.
Actually Lugh was a triple god meaning he had multiple forms or aspects the idea of three brothers was created by British archeologists trying to make sence of the three headed figures they found in Irish art.
Lugh’s son/incarnation Setanta, better known as Cu Chulainn is my favorite Irish hero. When will we see a video on him? Though, I suppose the warp spasm would be dreadful to draw/animate
I love the art its hard to find good artistic representations of Irish gods but these were done beautifully. Would you also do some for other under represented mythologies like Polynesian or west African mythology?

This channel depicts Ancient Irish as Masculine warriors when in reality they were quite the opposite. In reality they were unwarlike and constantly conquered by neighbouring peoples. The channel owner is probably Irish American. 🇮🇪🇺🇸
These are Myths. You know Hercules isn’t real right? Or Thor, or Ironman. Just cool characters and storylines made up by cool people, so regular folk could have a little escapism……….Doesn’t matter if you were listening to this be told as a story 3000 years ago or you watched Infinity War in the cinema 3 years ago. It’s the same thing.
He sounds like a combo of Apollo and Hephaestus.
and a little baldur
and/or Odinn Thor with a sprinkle of Loki
Hephaestus is such a cool name
Or David and Goliath
The Love Child No One Expected

Yeah , I think Tolkien intentionally created Sauron in inspiration of Balor
@@AlecEburhard I don't know if I would go that far. But he definately appears to be a highly likely inspiration at least in part.
@@jonathonfrazier6622 I do remember reading about on an article online if that helps

There's a certain anime character that's named after this guy
I was disappointed the light sword did not have light
Love your videos please check your pronunciation of Irish names👌🏼
I hope someone will make a good movie about the battle of Irish gods and giants
Cool video.
(Despite completely butchering the pronunciations)
why the "BraveHeart" style ?

No maybe Helios.
Um, wasn’t it decided that Lugh actually does NOT mean light?
❤
You could at least get the pronunciation of Lugh correct. The gh is silent.
Is this who Mad Sweeney from American Gods is based on?
Mad Sweeney, you will be missed.
Tuatha is pronounced "Tuu-ah-ha" not "Tu-atha"
