- SHE HAD AN HORROR OF ROOM
she was tired, you can't hide beat
When I looked in her eyes they were blue but nobody home
Well she coulda been a killer if she didn't walk the way she do
And she do
She opened strange doors that we'd never close again
She began to wail
Jealousy screams
Waiting at the lights
Know what I mean
Scary monsters
Super Creeps
Keeps me running
Running scared
Scary monsters
and Super Creeps
Keeps me running
Running scared
She asked for me to stay and I stole her room
She asked for my love and I gave her a dangerous mind
Now she's stupid in the streets and she can't socialize
Well I love the little girl and I'll love her till the day she dies
SHE WAILS! Jimmy's guitar sound
Jealousy screams
Waiting at the lights
Know what I mean
Scary monsters
Super Creeps
Keeps me running
Running scared
Scary monsters
and Super Creeps
Keeps me running
Running scared
Scary monsters
Super Creeps
Keeps me running
Running scared
Scary monsters
and Super Creeps
Keeps me running
Running scared
Oh oh woh-oh
Oh, oh-oh-oh oh
Oh oh oh, oh oh
Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh!
Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh!
Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh!
Frank's voice just blends in!
but...why?
@@harryflemming9924 Because Frank and Dave were meant to be.
Easily one of the coolist lead guitar pieces ever!
Reeves kills it on every live version I've heard him play, better than Fripp even.
The 50th Birthday show should be a DVD or something. So many great guests. One great Bowie.
this sounds better than the original record :)
reeves gabrels is my favorite bowie guitarist, and the 90s my favorite bowie era.
R.I.P. Mr. Bowie. You're a true LEGEND.
Great performance. Terrific guitar solos. In other words the thin White duke's style.
The two seem to play pretty well together.
+Marcella Murphy I agree-great duo! Love them both!
"Scary Monsters" and "Hunky Dory" are Bowie's most interesting Albums ,in my opinion.
you skipped "among", but otherwise, yes, very much so
Your opinion is right on the money. His two very best albums.
The Man Who Sold the World as well. Before Nirvana popularised it with the Unplugged cover, it was pretty obscure. Has some totally wild and unique tracks, such as The Supermen and Bewlay Brothers.
Bowie on Frank Black's band, Pixies: bowie on Pixies
Bowie thinks so highly of Pixies and Frank Black, enough to cover their song "Cactus". That's why the truly great David Bowie invited the truly talented songwriter Frank Black/Black Francis on stage. A great pairing on a great song!
And Reeves Gabrels is and insane talent on the guitar!
First saw Bowie on SNL in '79 Decades and lightyears later i Saw bowie on the documentary channel talking about the Pixies. Thanks bowie.
Frank lookls a bit lost without his pixies guitar. still great tho
Looks like a great concert! Scary Monsters is such a great song and album. I've always loved it and it's one of my favourite Bowie albums!
I LOVE that if you watch videos of Frank Black on stage or in videos he just wears regular clothes on stage. This is a great video/rendition of this song. Bowie and Black NAIL it! And yes, that guitarist is all over that thing.
Whoa, the guitar player is Awesome!!!!
In my humble opinon..
Much Love to DB...
for giving FB .....prop's..
however , song for song..
FB ...kicks, DB"s collective butt
maybe not commercially.
but that is why DB,, had Frank Black on stage
many kudos to both Artiste's...
much love to all..
Freakin hell this is great.
Zak on kit should be mentioned here as well but my gosh, Reeves playing ...just stunning !!
One of the things that I like about David Bowie- one of the MANY things- is his fine taste in EVERYTHING.
A discovery to me, Frank and Bowie sharing the stage. Never too late to enjoy!
GD Bowie gonna miss you on earth!
I'm pretty sure that's Reeves Gabrels, not Robert Fripp. Gabrels was Bowie's guitarist at the time.
I thank Ronnie49 on the davidbowie.com forums for pointing me towards this AWESOME performance! Wow, is that GREAT. Thank you so much for showing me that! That BURNS!
@Captlafl69 The guitarist is Reeves Gabrels from Tin Machine-I believe he remained in Bowie's band up until the "Hours..." album.
Reeves Gabrels = incredible
the best guitar.......
OMG! Brilliant. Damn, I miss him!
I agree. Gabrels may have helped saved Bowie from the depths of the 80s.
I love how frank rolls out in his blue jeans and keds onto a stage with Bowie reverting to a darker Ziggy and the freakshow that comes with it, I think I saw the phantom of the opera strolling off stage.
A very rockin' rendition! That is an awesome take on Fripp's work!
Goddamn, this is a great song!!
wow!
DAVID BOWIE AND FRANK BLACK!?!
I just jizzed my pants
This "Bowies" 50th birthday from Madison Square Garden kicks ass. I have it all on VHS. Copies are available for 3000 pounds UK. If you're wondering how much that is in American dollars... well, it's probably enough to fuck up your rent payment... about 1900 dollars US. The best thing to do is never buy into someone elses'nightmare... save your money and save your soul...
He really looks like he is having a blast! Was this concert actually held on his 50th birthday?
Just cos we're 50 doesn't mean we're past it! haha!
@TheThroney I never thought of the Pixies this way, but Bar Band is right on the spot. :-)
A GENIUS Bar Band, LOL.
And in this vid we see two very different geniuses, gods, meeting. I love it!
Oh, its was David Bowie's 50th Birthday Celebration Concert in 1997!!!!
Great song and incredible show! David Bowie rules!
Trop bon de voir ces deux là sur la même scène !!
David Bowie is a real genius. He could have won a place in history with only one of the albums released in the '70's. He had vision, he saw many things most artists saw many years later. He created a unique style, which was copied and is still being copied now by a lot of artists who don't even know they're copying a style. The pop world must worship him for all the eternity. In a ranking of the most influential pop artists he's no 3, after The Beatles and Andy Warhol.
If ever there was an Icon in rock music, Bowie's it!
monsters stage fright............................
You're welcome :D
And I agree. It's just fantastic.
This is the best Bowie album!
Who's playing guitar? Is that Reeves Gabrels?
Yes it is.
God Bowie looks great!!!
I thank you much for that correction and update. I still don't understand why it is not released on DVD... It's one of the best concerts I've ever seen....
LOS AMO... SIMPLEMENTE LOS AMO
Fantastique!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In this clip David's 50years old, Frank's 32.
Look at the way they both look and perform.
Could easily be the other way around!
Sheer class and mastery
Very nice song !!!
great song
U guy are all great
Robert Fripp (born 1946) of KING CRIMSON is an English guitarist, composer and record producer. He was ranked 42nd on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" Fripp is a master of crosspicking, a technique often associated with the banjo. His compositions often feature unusual time signatures, which have been influenced by classical and folk traditions. His innovations have included Frippertronics SEE Brian Eno, soundscapes
well, i never thought that far. until now, he was just the singer from the pixies for me. but the message of my doom and my destruction sounds great too. lol
David and Frank made some fire
yes this easily my favourite concert of all time...and i've got plenty. does ANYONE know where i can get hold of this 50th bday 1997 concert on dvd or even vhs? i'm hanging out for it. i had most of it on vhs years ago from tv but have mangaed to lose it. cheers, marcel (new zealand).
Amazing!!!
wiiiiiiicked! the whole song is a masterpiece!
can anyone tell me who the guitarplayer is?
dat solo at 5:20 really finishes it
Amazing version, realy!
Here comes your monster !
Bowie can I have your energy?
+manweller1 sure he is dead......
Cocaine.
Who is "Jimmy" of "Jimmy's guitar sound" - Hendrix?
@sagan1976 Actually, between Ziggy Stardust and Alladin Sane, he is several rock icons.
So this is where Tony Oursler got the idea for the projected-face doll's head in Where Are We Now?
I saw a Tony Oursler exhibition in '96 with a whole load of projected-face doll's heads. So no.
opposite. Bowie takes Toni's concept (and tot. legally..tony did the stage..and da video too..i think so)
cool, thx!
Frank and Bowie must be good friends-as well as this perfomance, David covered "Cactus" on the "Heathen" album. Can't go wrong with either of them!
Mould came out with a new CD a few months ago (on the MERGE label)!
SI EL MUNDO TUVIERA MAS BOWIE S Y MAS FRAK S... SERÍA MEJOR, MAS VIVIBLE Y MÁS AMABLE.... LOS AMO
Actually 3000 pounds is almost 6000 dollars US XD But the concert can be downloaded from the internet, it's available.
el Maestro...Bowie 😎
The Guitar composition was made by Robert Fripp. Dont drop it.
Ive already saw Frank Black and NIN playing Scary Monsters, which is not a surprise to me, cause many musicians love this song and album (ashes to ashes, its no game, etc ). Fans preffer other albums, but thats cool.
We've put men on the moon and Frank Black and David Bowie on the same stage. We have reached the zenith of human endeavour.
Anyone else see the two-headed conjoined doll from "Where Are We Now?" on the stage at 4:32?
great
Where was God when David died? This man disturbs me enormously. 'Dying is an Art/Like everything else.'
What's this song about? Why does the bubble look like Charles under David's boot? Is this song performance about how Kim couldn't deal with Charles subject matter and became a heroin addict but Charles wouldn't let her go because of her voice and how she sung ? Or was it the brand recognition of N,S,E,W? What happened here? Are we all stupid in the streets? Not allowed to socialize
Is this from David Bowie's 50 Years Birthday concert in New York?
A-M-AZING! Two of my Brothers!
Frank Black and David Bowie on one stage? Half of the crowd died from an overload of cool.
i remember a video of bowie and frank black doing fashion? is that video still around?
That was a fun 5:35!
Why not?
Frank Black is sorta like the David Bowie of alternative rock
@corneliuswashington Agreed, as so Frank black francis.
lol i don't know why everyone hates Reeves Gabrels so much. I think he's a great guitarist.
A very sexy version of this song. OMG. Reeves Gabrels, Frank Black and Thin White Duke? *swoon*
Holy crap! When did this happen!
Yea Bob Mould I think his name was, what did happen to him?
You hardly see Gail Ann Dorsey in the video but she is working that bass
Reeves = Uncle Fester
Reeves Gabrels. Or something like that. I was there. NASTY!
Who's the angel playing the guitar? Baby, you're long and beautiful.
what the heck is that thing lying on the stage floor? can summun tell me?
andy warhol is velvetunderground ,right?
@IJustHitTheFan well yeah, and franks a pretty heavy guy.. probably doesnt have the energy like david bowie, who is a skinny guy who is big on on-stage theatrics.. where as the pixies / frank black is more of a bar band.. they dont play with theatrics, just go on and play.. so Bowie has the advantage on stage presence i guess
seems like bowie has a long history of "falling out" with his band members...
pmsl yea man ha ha
does anyone know what year/tour this was?
