Wow of my 1st VHS cassettes. Tears in my eyes. I'm 51 years old. This came out in 1988. So many have passed on. Lost my parents, grandparents and so many family and friends But God is still worthy to be praised. So many memories!!
🎶 🌩️ _"When the storms of life are raging_ ⛈️ ☁️ _and the billows are tossing high,_ 🌫️ 🙏🏾 _You gave me strength and courage_ 🛐 🫴🏾 _because You were standing by."_ 🙌🏾✝️🎵
Tears, tears, tears of joy right now. This song just continues to bless me and proves that God's love, grace and mercy are timeless and never-ending. Thank you MMC for being a light. Cheers to Ms. Venora...we love you!!!
I just discovered this song last month and I am completely hooked on everything about it, the words, the music, the choir, and the exceptional soloist. Love the way she uniquely pronounce the lyrics and her tone is absolutely amazing. Wish I had heard it when it was released back in the day. I was a choir director of a very small country church in an even smaller part of the state of Florida. We would have given this one a try. Love it💜🙏💜.
Thirty or more years later it still powerful and anointed. I would say even more powerful now than ever. You gotta go through something to catch the revelation this song. #MISSISSIPPIMASSFAN4LIFE!
I agree but you can tell when you see her singing this song in the video many years ago that she was anointed and she had already gone through something Is the reason the song is so touching even back then. It was truly God's Holy Spirit who used her to minister this song as it is still ministering today and no matter how long it is received and played on this Earth until Jesus comes back it will still touch hearts and lives and minds and spirits because it is God's Grace with her using her as a vessel for His glory. 😊
I cannot believe I'm seeing this all these years later. Look how God has kept her🥰 I shouldn't be surprised by God's goodness and His faithfulness. God just having You there has made the difference 🎊He promised to never leave us nor forsake us. Sang choir🙌🏽
I love this song, when I'm mad, sad, glad having you there makes the difference. Still sounds beautiful. God is there through the thick and thin. Glory to GOD! Beautiful!
I'm 51 now, this song means more and words hit more as I(we) live and deal with life's lessons, and challenges. The late 80s MMC was one really great gospel choir and so glad your still going too. Our choir in Dallas opened up for you all in 1990 or 1991 when MMC came to Dallas TX. Heard this song on radio before high school most mornings....Just having you there makes difference(God) Fr🙌
@@nikitasharpe7306 Yes, and she's a legend because her original recording in 1988 is one of the most timeless, dynamic, spiritual vocal expressions ever in Black gospel music!!!
Nothing like the original video when it was new. This is only a fraction of the Mississippi Mass, and the lead singer is much older. Still love it. Still sounds great!
She still sounds good and the choir after 14 years ago when the was first sung bye them
This woman OMG she is still singing this song in the original key it was written in 30+ years ago!!! That is extremely rare!!!
And….. I love it like that!’
Insane. She sounds exactly the same as when she was young. Blew my mind hearing her.
I think we can be assured she wasn’t a smoker or a drinker 🤭🤭🤭
Praise God, I thought that was the original singer.

The drummer and the rest of the changed the groove and it fits nice, almost Detroit styled organ pads. Nice live rendition

❤
What is the name of the lead singer in this song?
Vernora Brown
Venora Brown
Your description is wrong ... this song was originally recorded in 2008. It's way older than that.
Came out in 1989
And to add her daughter can sing as well but think about it if you didn't watch the video you would've thought it was different leads on this song
Was released in 1988 not 2008.
:)
But the choir is not bigger than it was 14 years ago
