Spain's Royal Family: Princess Leonor & Sofia at Spectacular Anniversary Celebrations

On a historic evening, Spain’s King Felipe VI, Queen Letizia, Princess of Asturias Princess Leonor, and Infanta Sofía attended a special event at the Royal Palace, marking the tenth anniversary of King Felipe VI’s reign. The event featured a musical performance by renowned violinist Ara Malikian and a spectacular "videomapping" display on the façade of the Royal Palace.
The royal family joined citizens in Plaza de Oriente to enjoy the premiere of "Capriccio de Corazón para L & F 10," an original composition by Ara Malikian created for the anniversary.
Before this performance, the Music Unit of the Royal Guard, under the direction of musician Colonel Fernando Lizana, delivered a commemorative concert. The repertoire included:

- "Benny Goodman Memories" arranged by Naohiro Iwai
- "Overture King Felipe VI" by Óscar Navarro
- "To the Prince or Princess of Asturias" march of honor by Francisco Grau

"Videomapping" Projection and Exhibition
Following Ara Malikian’s performance, the royal family witnessed a four-minute "videomapping" projection on the Royal Palace façade. This visual spectacle complemented the exhibition "Felipe VI 2014 - 2024: A Decade of the History of the Crown of Spain," curated by the Provincial Council of Grandeur and the Cultural Foundation of the Spanish Nobility. The exhibition highlights King Felipe VI’s institutional work during his first decade as monarch.

- *Inauguration:* The exhibition will be inaugurated by King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia on June 20.
- *Display:* The exhibition will run on June 19, 20, and 21, with free projections at 10:45 PM, 11:00 PM, 11:15 PM, and 11:30 PM.
- *Photos:* It features 23 large-format photographs in the Prince's Gallery, depicting significant moments such as Felipe VI’s proclamation and the State tribute to coronavirus victims, alongside personal family moments in the gardens of Campo del Moro.
- *Video Summary:* A video summary of the decade is showcased in the Hall of Halberdiers.
- *Graphic Display:* The Crown Room features a special graphic alluding to the anniversary.
#### Academic and Cultural Contributions
Historians Enrique Moradiellos and Publio López Modéjar curated the exhibition, with museography by architect Francisco Bocanegra. The exhibition will tour other Spanish cities including Granada, Seville, Zaragoza, Malaga, and Valencia throughout 2024 and the first half of 2025, supported by their respective Royal Cavalry Maestranzas.
#### Free Access to Royal Sites
To honor the anniversary, National Heritage offered free access to all royal palaces, monasteries, and museums it manages, including the Gallery of the Royal Collections, on June 19. The Royal Palace of Madrid will have free entry on June 20 from 12:30 PM.
#### Additional Celebrations
In the lead-up to the main event, the royal family presided over a solemn change of the Royal Guard, awarded the Order of Civil Merit to exemplary citizens, hosted a lunch for representatives of the State and society, and facilitated a meeting between Princess of Asturias, Infanta Sofía, and young people, followed by a visit to the Gallery of the Royal Collections.
The celebration of King Felipe VI’s first decade on the throne not only highlighted his reign's significant milestones but also brought together the nation in a grand display of culture, history, and unity.
