- Once a villain, always a villain? Maybe not. It's Illumination VS DreamWorks in this villain-turned-hero showdown: Gru VS Megamind! Both intelligent, neither perfect, both ready to fight. Who'd win? Why? Here are my thoughts!

Yea I was bout to say the man took the powers from metro by analyzing his hair gave it to someone then took it back and he did state that he can use that power he just doesn't want to
And if you watch the movie metro man has no weakness's accept for that gun that can drain his powers

I also want to say that mega mind was able to come up with a strategy mid fight with tighten during his fall to his almost death

Gru may have more movies but megamind's better arsenal, better stradagies, and higher iq is what gives him the win in the end. In boomstick's own pun: "mind" you, gru just wasn't smart enough."
Yeah, that's a pretty good assessment. Megamind's arsenal alone is enough to take Gru out with ease, and when you factor in Megamind's durability, there's not too much Gru can do in response that would help very much

Yeah, I personally found Megamind to be the more appealing movie too. Not that Despicable Me was bad, I just thought Megamind was better put together in most areas

Two villains of the endearing type. Gru a high tech thief who can steal anything he wants with enough resources. And Megamind a showman villain that's loud and proud seeing his fights as a show and game.

Controversial Opinion: Megamind is better than Despicable Me
Megamind is getting a TV series, and I just recently learned that he also had comic issues, so this fight is more likely to happen as an actual Death Battle now more than ever before

I think the fight becomes more interesting when we use all gear and advantages
This would mean megamind gets his mechs and minion as an assist while gru gets all the minions his flying fortress and nefarious(I guess if that'll help) and maybe the v-52(I think that's what it's called) serum if you wanna argue he seized himself some of It or synthesized some himself

@@chadzombiehunter No there hasn't been a Megamind 2 yet with Will Ferrell returning. There totally isn't a Megamind 2 that was released on a boring and dull streaming service that's extremely cheap. 😉
Gru has an army of minions that are indestructible but they are pretty stupid so my money would be on megamind.
As for the next one, I really don't know who to root for. I'm generally more of a DC guy but I love Spider-Man. And I don't really know Livewire too well so I don't know how her powers directly compare to Electro's. I look forward to seeing your take on it

Doesn't Illumination own Dreamworks now or something? If so... this could actually canonically happen...
DreamWorks and Illumination are both owned by the same parent company. So neither one owns the other per se, but yeah, it wouldn't be out of the question for this to be a real crossover
This doesn't help Gru at all (in fact, quite the opposite), but you forgot about the Megamind: The Mega Collection comic and the Megamind video games, which give him some pretty crazy durability feats (like surviving building-leveling explosions), and some new gadgets (like the Tesla Glove).
I'd say Megamind got this, because he turns into Metro Man scaring Tighten away.
You also could have used the 4 issue Megamind prequel comic to add to his feats. I haven’t read it yet myself so idk how much that would’ve really added.

Megamind also had a forget me bomb, the encyclopedia bombica, rock-em sock-em kittens, and the destructosaur.
We have no idea what they do though.
In their own strength and combat ability megamind is definitely superior but when it comes to gadgets gru definitely takes the cake. He literally made a weapon that could shrink the moon.
He didn't make the shrink ray itself though. He STOLE the device from a lab(and later Vector's fortress) wherein he then likley modified it slightly to best suite his moon heist operation.

While I do agree with Megamind winning. What your missing is that Gru's minions are basically immortal. They have been alive for thousands of years. Can survive in space which has no oxygen and is extremely cold. Are resident to fire. They also have elasticity and weapon mastery. They can keep up with cars. Are strong enough to eat through a car, axe, and bomb. They also survived falling into a huge drop. And survived getting exploded from a rocket launcher.
Yet,they are stupid.Megamind drones may just carry them away,as they are very strong and fast.

@@user-yo1im9pi8z To be fair, Gru has over 12,000 minions which all possess weapons. Megamind hasn’t shown anywhere near the same amount of brain bots; no way is several hundred at-best or so brain bots carrying away 12,000 minions.

They were brainwashed, stolen and so on. And i swear, as soon as they see how Megamind present himself, they might turn on Gru, because as i remember, they did so in last movie.
They were easily stolen also and distracted. Consider this with Megamind's watch and those 12000 aren't gonna help a lot.
@@user-yo1im9pi8z I seem to remember the Minions preventing an entire city from being lifted into space in Despicable Me 3 without Gru’s help as well as only 3 of them being able to defeat some of the most renowned villains in the world at the time. Although they’re not bright at all, that doesn’t mean they’re incapable. They tracked Gru when he was kidnapped by Lucy (albeit clumsily), they could operate Gru’s ship, they form ladders and such for him, etc. They’re useful, even if they’re often a bit clumsy. Plus, if they knew it was life or death for Gru, they wouldn’t subside and do nothing (hell, just Gru and 2 of his minions held off against El Macho’s entire purple minion army for quite a bit with some rather advances displays of athleticism and fighting moves). Add that to the fact they’re seemingly indestructible (can brush off missiles, survive the vacuum of space for seemingly years, having their limbs and bones dislocated, etc.), and yes, I’d assume 12,000 nigh-invincible pests would be capable of handling Megamind’s meagre

Also even tho gru has strength naturally like you said mega minds durability far outclasses anything gru can dish out. So even tho gru is stronger his punches wont be enough to kill megamind or even knock him out so even without gear I would give it to mega mind since he would just outlast gru.
Being out of stamina against a guy who can take anything you can dish out is not a good combo
Yeah, exactly. And even when looking at their weaponry, Megamind has more reliable way to get around Gru's durability than the other way around, like his D-Gun options (destroy, death ray, dehydrate, etc)

Okay wait, no gear is alot different, because if these guys are just gonna straight up throw hands it's worth it to note that gru could do a variety of things that could kill him
The human body (I use this for megamind because his physiology dosent seem very different from reg humans) has multiple weak points that do much more damage than standard attacks
There's the nose which can sometimes even knock someone out if a good hit is placed there, there's also the neck connecting to the wind pipe which will cause lots of problems for anyone even those with heavy durability
There's also the fact that gru could snap his neck(almost instantaneous death) which gru should be capable of since even just slightly powerful men can do it
He's also like twice megaminds size and has much more physical strength to boot while megamind is stuck with noodles for arms
I think gearless just easily lands in grus favour due to the physical difference and megaminds dura won't matter against things like neck snapping or gru could even just pin him down since megamind wouldn't have the power to grapple witb gru

@@guamish7593 Wasn’t he very clumsy with it and barely even capable of actually using it? He almost got himself killed several times even trying to use it, implying he’s incredibly inexperienced and incapable of actually using it. That being said though, he really doesn’t need it to win TBH.

He stomps Gru without effort,as being invulnerable in terms of gigantic explosions,*possibly* FTL and laser eyes,without even including massive physical strength.
I think gru would will simply based on the personally. Is a bit less cocky now and will instantly go for the assault if angry so if the battle goes on for to long and gru is losing if megamind starts gloating, gru might catch him off guard and freeze him with the freeze ray. Plus gru kept up the the dancer guy far more and for far longer than megamind did with Titian’s laser. Plus you didn’t talk about gru’s ship. It would help gru deal with Megas mechs and the skink ray could do the same with his stronger tech plus if gru srunk mega mind he might get crushed by his only weapon.
