I stand with the folks of Richwood, West Virginia. You have stood the test of time yet persevered and God shall restore your land. Stand by your faith and God shall deliver you out of the storm. I love each of you.
This is why when I bought my farm I made sure it was at high elevation and I made sure there was a creek/gorge on the neighboring farm which would carry flood waters away from my land. Not only is there a gorge nearby but my land itself is 200ft. higher in elevation than my neighbors land that has the gorge so waters would have to rise close to 300ft. before my family would be in danger. I've lived through terrible flooding before so I made damn sure wherever I would put down roots and start a family, that land would be safe from this sort of disaster. I feel so sorry for these people.
I from Hughes Creek WV and I agree, Im proud to be a hillbilly, the state has been hit hard the last couple of years, but that's what makes us stronger, WV is the best place Ive ever lived and I have been around the world a few times. god bless all of you
`` flooding was the result of 8 to 10 inches (200 to 250 mm) of rain falling over a period of 12 hours, resulting in a flood that was among the deadliest in West Virginia history.``
I haven't heard whether or not FEMA is involved nor has the State declared a state of emergency for these folks!? It certainly appears that both measures are appropriate. I don't see the Red Cross anywhere either. Is everything being done that CAN BE DONE? Or are politics getting in the way?
I bet child protective service was runing all over the place snatching up all the kids. Cuz when disasters happens like this. They can't wait to get a bonus check they don't give a s*** for any family that's in a disaster zone long as they can make their money they're vultures.

I'll never forget that day. I've been in worse floods, but 6/23 was the first time I got caught out in one. No warning.....took 2 days to get home.
People should be kind always. Hands are for helping and not hurting.
I was born in Richwood WVa in 1974
I remember living through this. It was crazy
This was a really sad time because I lived in Richwood

Sure fema has 'helped'. They stepped in and offered loans. LOANS! Talk about a slap in the face!
