It is indeed a vexing experience to see our government, which includes a party I actually voted for, drag their feet in this way, when the majority of the German people want to see Ukraine win, and then join the EU as soon as Ukrainians want to (if they still want to, that is).

There are reasons why Putin has much influence in Germany. Reason number one is that 1/4 of Germany lived a long time under Russian occupation. Those people who did not get along with the changes after East and West Germany were re-united, now are strongly in favour of the old Russian system. Reason number two is that some 30 years ago the former German chancellor Helmut Kohl invited about three million Russians to move to German and get German citizenship. Many of which still have not learned German and inform themselves by Russian media only.
ANother reason, seems like every third german has a kind friend from moscow, and having friends from moscow is identical to having brain cancer.

I (fortunately for now) don't live in the USA and I took a break for a month on sending support to Ukraine. It's not a lot of money, but it's certainly better than Johnson can do apparently.
Thank you to every volunteer, soldier, drone creator, driver, medic and the civilians who take care of each other every day. First responders paid a huge price and Heroyam Slava to each of them.

Imagine bothering to walk to a polling booth when you already know the result has been arranged and the winner has imprisoned or murdered the opposition before the election.

@@sujac664 Cool thank you. Also our best troops (including our Maori troops who are often the best of the best) are in the UK training Ukrainians how to kill Russian invaders. By November last year the NZ military have trained 2,500 Ukrainians so far.
Whats cool about NZ is most friend groups contain people from all cultures and races. Especially in Wellington. Not so much in Christchurch. its a bit of a snobs city lol.
Unfortunately since Covid its become very expensive to live here with some of the highest house prices and rents in the world compared to the average income. Its gone insane. Food prices are so high here too 54% increase in a couple year. I read they are some of the highest prices in the world too (compared to income).
but many people still seem happy and friendly.
