That was the first thing I noticed, then I thought the rgb settings weren't all the way up, I was upset when I saw they were. But after using it for a while I am really liking it, it's still vivid, and the screen is more black (in return, making the colors look better outside or under direct light)
The anti-reflection more than makes up for the (barely noticeable) difference.

I completely agree. I think some people jump on a bandwagon without actually owning the device. I went from the S23 Ultra to the S24 Ultra, and yes, I see a difference. However, it doesn't bother me in the slightest. If anything, I actually prefer it.

I talked to Samsung Support three times about the display now over the last week and I was told every time that they know nothing about an issue with the software nor an upcoming fix... I sure hope they actually do release a software update soon because I only have a bit over two weeks to return mine

@GetItRight997 Are you dumb? I buy a new phone for a significant amount of money so I can expect it to not come with a massive issue like this. They promised me the "best and most vivid display on any smartphone yet" and if that isn't what I get then I have a right to complain.

I called one time 7 minutes call . Told they are aware of the vivid issue and a fix is being issued via update . That was before the statement from samsung . Call again

The colour gamut Zayreb.....the colour gamut is cuckoo.....I know people like 'normal' but options are what it's all about. I like vivid colours....let me decide which way to go....half the reason I get Samsung phones is that awesome, gorgeous, vivid display. That's what I find so irresistible, that and One UI. They might even want to consider letting us crank it up further using something like Good Lock.....I do that on the Steam Deck....using a plugin, why not a phone?

Because people complained that the colors looked un natural and over saturated. Which they were! I color grade almost every day and no one wants an over saturated ridiculous looking image. People need to stop wanted things to look like IG filters.

@Manikanta.Rapolu I do this for a living so my knowledge I'm pretty sure is far more than yours. Anyone with eyes that actually do this can clearly see the difference in hue, saturation, luminance and sharpness. The natural profile has always been pretty flat. The vivid mode should never be an over saturated image that looks like an instagram filter. Which they have always been overly saturated and unnatural looking. Which is why people complained about it. Now they're whining about this. Someone who can't identify color well can't see the difference when it's easily identifiable.

@Manikanta.Rapolu It was definitely over saturated 😆. Which is why they brought it back on this one. They've come out and stated this was done intentionally. Because EVERYONE complained about how unnatural the image looked. Vivid is supposed to add a little more pop to the image.

Strange, I saw on X the Cat said they won't fix it and there's nothing wrong with the display, they did this intentionally. But well, I hope they do fix it cause some people might like the natural look of it, not everyone! give us the option to choose.

It was wrong of Samsung to hype up all the AI features with no talk of fees. For a Flagship device, it should be included for the life of the device. They should have at least presented the fee portion with the release of the devices/features. I didn't hear anything of fees until I had my phone in hand. I would have likely waited til next year to upgrade with that info. AI integration was marketed as a built in feature, not a paid subscription add-on. That is literally a bait and switch. Lots of legal questions there.
Bro, I'm upgrading from S21 Ultra and the display colours are not that great. Very dull & lifeless.
If I wanted "Natural" colours, I would have chosen that from the options. When I choose Vivid, I want VIVID.
I paid €1300 for this phone, they better fix this before I return mine.

What about the grainy & 3 horizontal line display. You tend to notice it in low light and on gray background...is that hardware or software issue? I have the issue on my S24+

Samsung needs some more display settings to configure/calibrate the colors or white balance to taste. Oppo and others let you set the temperature wich is already nice. Im happy with accurate and natural colors. Saw the s24 and it looked spectacular!

Dude why are you flat out lying to people. The s24 ultra doesn’t look at good as an s10+. The side by side comparison are astounding I’ve done one myself with the s22u and the s24u that I sent back. It’s the panel of the phone. It’s the hardware. A software update ain’t gonna fix that. Changing your settings isn’t gonna fix that.
Your right about the denying part. Tho your wrong about the hardware part, its not the panel. Go try and put your settings on vivid and switch it back to natural, nothing changes on the s24 but compare it with any other model and you see the difference instantly. Only the colors in the gallery app and in other HDR compatible apps the settings seem to make difference

Finally, the screen blant colours was bugging me so much I had to turn brightness to the max to squeez some colour out of the screen

You need to fact check yourself, Samsung formally commented on colors and it's natural mode is intended, there is 0% patch coming to making colors more vivid.

"It's not a big deal?" I feel sad looking at this screen, especially looking at my s23 ultra. It's day and night. I've had every single ultra there has ever existed, and this one is definitely horrible. Brightness is amazing, but the colours are bad. Very washed out!

They need to fix the mic of WhatsApp when recording VMs. It has a high pitch ringing in the background of recorded content in the app which isn't present on the native recording app.
You said an issue with WhatsApp but it's Samsung to fix it, not the WhatsApp development team to optimize their app for the phone? Weird people out here.

Don't copy / paste from support chats, they hold no ground. Unless there is official response from Samsung Korea / USA or any other country office, there is no guarantee that they even acknowledge this problem, let alone finding a fix.
Not sure if its my S24 ultra, but besids the washed out display colors,ive noticed camera photos and videos are horrible. I jave both S23 Ultra and iphone 15 pro max, and i woukd always do comparison shots and S23 Ultra woukd always have better clarity and much more detail photos than iPhone, at least most of them, some woukd be a good tie. But when doing same comparison with the 24 Ultra, man i can really tell the difference; S24 Ultra photos look more of a Samaung budget device which is very sad to say comparing that to a flagship. Hopefully they can provide an update on that as well.

One thing I'll say is that Samsung needs to stop launching phones without 💯 optimization before shipping to end users. I'm a Samsung user as far as note 2, and they need to cut that crap. That camera isn't optimized yet, exactly why I do not get the new this time because i was scared the history of 22ultra would repeat itself, and it's already looking like it will. It took a whole year for the s22ultra to be stable and perform like a real flagship. It took S23 ultra a month or so. It's ridiculous!

Try turning off super hdr in the gallery settings it makes them look awful in my opinion

Not just that, the only on display has no customisation, it also doesn't move around the screen. Which will/can cause screen burn.
The pixel switch came back with 6.1 of one ui no burning possible anymore.
I'm actually enjoying the less saturated display on my s24 ultra. It feels more natural and imo puts less strain on my eyes.
Not only charge for AI its because they will all be able to charge for the tech i believe apple will follow when they release and talk in june or septmeber maybe free for a bit too. next iphone will also have RCS chat equivalent to their imessage so android users and apple will be able to communicate better.

My S24ULTRA does not have the MIC MODE , which kinda sucks but I'm expecting them to fix it on the next update. Overall, I am so happy with my S24ULTRA, I can see myself using this phone until Samsung releases the S26 ULTRA 😂😂😂😂

it is a big deal. The color gamut is not functioning right. The vivid/natual button sliders don't work. This IS a problem. It's not OK just because you like muted colors.
The photo AI changes just about every picture to a overly brightened exposure. Pro mode will leave the photo as the photographer intended. There should be an option to use AI in the "photo" mode.
The smoothness of the phone is noticeable. I want the color changes sooner than later. I want glaring mistakes fixed asap.

I just read on Android Authority that samsung Spain have said there is no update coming and that the screen and colours were made like that deliberately so it's a better experience for the customers! I personally don't mind it, it's not even that bad and it's still the best phone I've ever had

Having to pay for AI Technology on a flagship phone sucks. It should be free for the life of the phone. The fees for using AI tech should be included upfront, that way the consumers can make a choice. The AI tech was a major reason why I'm upgrading my phone. 😒😠
Sorry bro, I have to disagree. This is a bigger deal than some are letting on. The screen is arguably the absolute best in the world. This lack of vibrancy & saturation in comparison to my S23 ultra does not say "this is our best, the best phone screen on earth". I'm genuinely almost certain its software fixable with an update (that needs to happen quickly) but if it turns out to be hardware it's going to be an issue. Love it aside from that though!
