You sir are the best of the absolute best your style of teaching is respectable and everything that I’d want in a teacher such poise and mastery with what you do. If you ever create a Maschine course count me among the students! You’re a teacher’s teacher!!
@@jefgibbons I have been on a quest to fully learn Maschine after years of halfway learning and getting stuck with what I don’t like instead of embracing what it is designed to do. From the Mk1-Studio-and now Maschine plus. I use Reason as the Daw which I love but Maschine is the troublesome tool you love and can’t let go because of the workflow. Super tutoriel… Merci Jef… Je vais essayer de connecter correctement mon Roland Fantom 8 avec ma MK3… Bravo pour tes explications claires et très utiles.
Hello Jeff great videos you make Bro, thanks for them because I learn a lot of things that if you don't see it is difficult to explain hehehe, I have a question if I understand good you connect midi in to midi in and other cable midi out to Maschine midi out? Two cables? Is first time I head this, because I want to connect my microbrute from Arturia and can use it through M+ and maybe add a effect if is possible but use it sync to play live with the Maschine plus so I will have to do the connection how you did midi in to midi in and other cable midi out to midi out, is that correct? Please answer me soon as you can, and thanks 🙏🏻😊 a lot again for your videos 👍🏻🤘🏻✌🏻 Blessings and Good Vibes
Appreciate your channel !! Besides doing all your demonstrating, can you also use microfreak as a controller, assigning its knobs to the different vsti parameters ??
Thanks Jef! Lots of great tips there that I will be practicing. You have restored my faith, a little, that the upcoming patch will restore some functionality that is broken on my M+. Regarding the line in recording level. What is going on there? I plugged my new HS in and had to turn the synth output to full and the M+ input all the way up too! Thought it was just my unit. Would be nice if they could fix this in a future update. Joc
Yeah, I think that's an issue (gain on the input)... One can normalize, but it makes it hard to work with other things when the input volume is so low. Thanks for the comments!
Jeff thanks again for the great tips. Personally can't wait for saving with samples to be added. Question regarding send effects: After making beats in Maschine, I often export the groups (sometimes sounds) as audio to bring into my DAW. But if I'm setting up my effects in an aux channel, what would the exported audio look like? I assume my exported group/sound tracks would be all dry,and then I would get a separate audio track with the effects for all the sounds that were being sent to it? It seems like using send groups would be unideal for that type of workflow but curious if there is a workaround or if I'm not thinking about it right.
Great content Jef. Please tell me this new update addresses all of the annoying bugs. Particularly the clipping when only pushing the CPU at just over 30%. Overall stability of the unit just won’t allow me to do any real work on it just yet.
Great Video Jef, you've been helping me optimize my whole Maschine set up since Ive purchased. I have a question tho. I get really lost with not having individual routing setting per channel as in Ableton live. What would be the best way to set up my external effect (zen delay) to be a send effect with out it being in my microphone input chain and audible when monitoring? Im really confused on how ins and outs work on sounds and groups and then how the sampling function runs independently of that. if that makes sense...
what I'm trying to do is route my mic to my zen delay, and strap a reverb over the zen delay that gets printed wet when i hit looper mode. i get stuck trying to do that cuz i can't effect my input two when its recording. when i use ableton i just use the external effect plugin and this works fine. I thought of a solution to using the loopback function of my MOTU but big sur isn't compatible with their driver yet. This is such a headache lol
I’ve tried what you said (midi in/out from microfreak to midi in/out Maschine) and as soon as I press play on you UA-cam video, my speakers took a pounding. I turned monitoring back to off on the SAMPLING, Monitor setting of my Maschine and it fixed the continuous boom sound. Could this have something to do with my Apollo Twin audio interface?
Nice video and thank you for all the M/M+ videos, I'm a new user of M+ since the very first day of M+ and I looked on every video from you which helped me a lot... So it wasn't very hard to understand how the M+ and software works. You are doing nice small tracks with the M+ in all the videos so far... Very cool! I so excited about the M+ that I started making my own expansion but so far, no self made expansion is running on M+ ! :( I want to finish my expansion this month and maybe you want to check it out if you want... Would be cool!!!
Dear Jeff, thanks a lot for this video! I really appreciate how clear you are in your explanations! I'd have a question, if I may ask: so, I see that using another group as send effects instead of applying these on the groups' sounds theirselves is advantageous since one can, for example, send sounds from multiple groups to an effects without applying it repeatedly where needed; but I were asking myself for which reason ( aside the given chance to set individual gain sends ) it might be advantageous doing so if one wants to send all the sounds in a group to the same effect - instance in which one normally just applies the wanted effect on the group itself...is this related to some CPU stuff/consumption, or is it just to earn that "send amount" setting? Thanks a lot once more! By the way, I'm really excited for he new update! Did you tested or have any other report about?
Thanks! I do have the beta version, and it's been working really well. As for sends, there's no advantage to putting it on each sound individually vs on the group. It's just easier to do an entire group if you want the same amount of reverb on every sound in that group...
Hey Jeff, Very helpful video! Looking to add the Microfreak to my M+ workflow, this video just came up on time! Quick question, why not using the Maschine USB port to connect Microfreak?
Amazing video, very well explained, thanks for sharing that detailed workflow and tips to the community. How did you get access to this 1.2.15 firmware beta ? We're still awaiting its release one month later, though it looked like pretty stable on your video.
Thanks Alexandros! I do a lot of collaboration with NI, so they sent me the beta early to test it out. It's been way more stable than the current version, I think it should be released any day now! (don't quote me on that though...)
Hey Jef, does the maschine + fit that art’s wood stand pretty good? I see that you’ve used it for the maschine mk3 as well and wanted to get one for the maschine +.
Hey Jeffrey! It fits well, I just have to carefully slide it in so it doesn't wreck the SD card that slightly protrudes on the left side. You might have to shave down the inside a little if yours fits tighter... Easy fix though that wouldn't change the look, just be careful with it!
I've replied to you before Willie! Are you referring to your comment that my connection is confusing and you'd love a better explanation? I'm sorry if this wasn't good enough! It's absolutely exhausting trying to reply to every comment, not to mention the time it takes to make these videos for very little in return. Please try to keep that in mind!
I’m sorry Jeff, I honestly didn’t mean to offend and I realize that came off as rude, I just have such a hard time trying to utilize my MF and M+ and I can’t find a good enough video to get them to communicate the way I’ve seen on another video by renozier, I reached out to him and he said the mapping is a bit complex but really didn’t go into it much. I just have been frustrated and watched this one again today and just don’t understand. I’d like to be able to play the keys of the MicroFreak and record that into my projects on M+ standalone also whilst being able to play with the cut off & resonance and all the knobs while playing a beat on the M+, I realize I just need fo sit down and do the work, have to stop looking to UA-cam for answers in a certain sense. I love and respect what you do! I apologize again for that stupid comment earlier!
@@WillieCarpenter17 No problem at all Willie! I completely understand the frustration... and thanks for clarifying it. I'm just in the middle of a bunch of projects, but if I have time I'll come back to this. In the meantime, keep researching, hopefully you figure it out!
