I still personally stand by saying that the federal government is a good way to "break in" when so many private sector companies have much more stringent job requirements for "entry level" positions. A pretty decent opportunity to "start" somewhere, potentially get free training and the coveted "work experience." Not to mention a paycheck and benefits. After time, most will be better equipped to look for other opportunities...either staying within the public sector or now leveraging that public sector experience gained to explore private sector. I think it's important to success to understand the "system" and how to best utilize it to maximize benefit.
False information here. I am a retired federal employee and the competition is FEIRCE. You were correct in showing that the national pool of competitors is limited but the numbers of applicants is HUGE.
