I'm a huge fan of Cat Goes Fishing, so this was a no brainer for a compilation video.

That's why these compilation videos make even more views than the originals playthrough
Basically there are a lot of people falling asleep while watching 10 minutes gaming vids, then the next video starts automatically, if you're making compilation and that sleeping viewer randomly get from that to a compilation video you basically win... it makes for a very long video in which you can put a lot of ads, and since the watcher is asleep he will watch all the video and all the ads, and then the magic happens : UA-cam algorithm thinks it's a great video because people watch time is high eventhough it's a long vid, and viewers don't skip the ads, thus those videos gets much more recommended to both new viewers and also old viewers (which means that the next viewer falling asleep will have much more chance to have that kind of video recommended automatically)
So you get more views, much more watch time, much more money per view and per impression (an impression = an ad viewed) and the algorithm starts favoring you compared to other similar creators for discoverability
All that without much work since you only have to take your old content and compile it in one vid per playthrough
I'm not even mad, it's actually amazing if you think about it, though to be fair I bet most creators that do that only do it because they see it working for other creators without understanding why that is

Dude! These fish designs unlocked childhood memories of playing a game just like this with the same fish, only difference was the goal was to swing the pole to the other side to pull the land to you for you love interest on the other side
