Fun fact! The guitarist of The Tornados is named George Bellamy and he has a son named Matthew Bellami who is the main vocalist and guitarist in a band called MUSE. This world is very small
I'm 19 years old by the time of writing this comment and I must say listening to Telstar by the Tornado feels like its transporting my soul into another time and place and that is a very good and serene feeling
I react the same way to those vocals . They somehow seem to give the recording a resonating grandeur . Joe Meek was a master at creating such effects in his productions .
My first introduction to music at 7 or 8 years old was when a cousin gave me his old record player and a number of 45s. I can only remember three of them - The Frightened City by the Shadows, Rambling Rose by Nat King Cole and this - I've loved it ever since.
I remember when the first Telstar satellite was launched, the first active communication satellite. Before that, there was only the Echo, a giant mylar balloon that could reflect signals. It was the summer before I entered 7th grade, I'm 75 now and it seems like a few lifetimes ago. Great song, great band, great memories of times past.
I was wondering if it was Baynton. In the movie he plays Richie Blackmore but Blackmore wasn't the guitarist for the Tornados, he was in the Outlaws. A bit of creative licence.
Where's the keyboardist, bro!!?? :D No no sorry, he was there in the whole video, on the left side, and was cut off from the frame, cuz you zoomed to the other four members. Yup, he came into light at the end of the clip hahaha :D
I'm a son of the atomic bomb as Sputnik was sent into space, one of the kids that live beside a important Air Force Base when this song came out. I saw a lot of spacecraft and airplanes constantly, Innovation and Technology was the daily diet.... I know about Telstar.... Will Robinson
@@Teflon_75 Cool man! And as a matter of fact, TELSTAR is one of my favorite movies. It does take me back to hearing that song all the time in my early teens. :)

And I just leave it here - one of the most iconic MUSE song - successor of this tune.

Another fun fact. Dave Watts was the keyboard player AFTER they had their big hit, and I lived with his daughter for about 2 years.
@@michalmt2 I like how it expands on the galloping sound in the background and turns it into a video of men on horseback and wild west adventures
Amazing Tune... Fantastic Musicians! Such a positive feeling. The early 60's were such a Hopeful Era... To me it was!
I remember when this first came out. Geez I am getting old. Still a great piece.
I'm 71. And may I ask your age? Cheers. Don't quite remember this. The melody vaguely rings a bell.
I'm 70, grew up listening to my mom's radio, and this was one I remembered. my first rock album was a Ventures.
This is my Dad's music. I recall a memory of him and my mom stepping out for a good time.
I'm 76, and I remember it very well.
My first ever record I bought myself with my money cost 3 shillings and 6 pence

I know what you mean! Me, too!!!
Which one?
Telstar is a great movie - vastly underrated
Im 56. Ive always loved this tune. Way ahead of its time. Its literally timeless music 🎶
This was WAY ahead of its time, musicwise - I was born in 1958, BTW - the vocal at the end gets me all teary eyed.
I react the same way to those vocals . They somehow seem to give the recording a resonating grandeur . Joe Meek was a master at creating such effects in his productions .
What I like about this song is that it portrays the excitement and fascination with all things outer space. Even satellites.
Strange that it feels uplifting and melancholy at the same time.
Must be minor key? not musician.
💯 Same feeling
@@thomashernandez8700 I believe it's in A major.
I like how they hide the intricate guitar work. They know they can’t duplicate the greatness!

Fantastic video. My very favorite song of all time!
This needs more views urgently. What a masterpiece!
I recall how TV stations would sign-off with the Star-Spangled Banner. This tune should start us each day!
WOW, This is GREAT!!!
The Tornados complete with James Corden ( sitting in for Clem Cattini on drums 🥁 ) 🤣🤣🤣
Amazing how much they looked alike
This needs a million views.

Pretty cool never seen this video before. Ah! When I was dreaming about the future.
What a great song! And I love the sharkskin suits!
Sharkskin suits, DA haircuts, and - likely - roach killer shoes. And, the choreography! Early '60s nostalgia!😄😄😄
Das war und ist einfach Musik vom Feinsten, einfach 👍👍
Classic Forever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I did not know that James Corden could play the drums.
Yes, a man of many talents LoL

❤ Fantastic !!
great great tune
Mathew Baynton from ghosts on guitar, James Corden on drums.

LA musique parfaite!
The main player isn't shown til the end...🤫
Doesn't get much of a look-in does he?
Don Draper flying...
I didn't know James Corden played drums with the Tornados !!
He never, these are all actors, this was taken from the movie.
It's a clip from the Film Telstar. They are all actors, not the original group
Is it some sort of rule that James Cordon needs to feature in every piece of media?
I think they hid a lot on this video. Did the keyboardist really play that synth and did they really play the guitars?
For real, yes, .. But these are just actors from the movie. This was the bonus footage taken for the special adition DVD.
Pure joy

KI - GRAUSAM!!!!
I do feel bad for the drummer. They could have given him a chart with more drum riffs.
Was Heinz in the Tornado?
Yes, had a hit with Just like Eddie. Tribute to Eddie ocbran
나는 Tonado라는 닉네임의 한국인이요.당신들의 Telstar를 들을 때마다 우주로 여행하는 느낌이요.

What are their names please bands
Is that James Cordens father on drums.
Is that ralph little on keyboard
hard to tell from this angle but given that james cordon is on drums then there's every possibility.
Wish I could do that.
Why these irritating time-codes in the picture all the time?
Is this a major or minor key?
I didn't know James Corden played in this group as a drummer?
Is it me or dose the drummer look like smithy out of gavin and stacy :)
Yes it's James Corden, he starred with Ralf Little in the film Telstar, about legendary record producer Joe Meek
et désormais on a les braillards du "rap" quelle tristesse !

He wasn't, he played the part in the movie 🙂

No James Corden
He's the drummer.
