  • How Tough is Ventrac's Tough Cut? We found out the hard way. What started out as an afternoon of work around the farm ended up giving the Ventrac HQ680 Tough Cut a serious test. Also, we use the Kioti RX7320 tractor with the Titan Implement grapple to clear up some downed trees and brush.

    Suggestion: Carry loppers. Battery type will take less room. Cut all branches below head height.

    Joe, my finish mower deck got stuck in tall damp grass and did the same belt dance and smoke show! Just a bit of black smudge on the belt cover... no damage!

      These suckers are tough buddy! I do suggest you order a spare for each belt. I have only broken one (total) but feels good to know that they are ready in the barn. Oh, and good news…they are CHEAP! About $20 each. 😎

      100%. They both have their place for sure. But I just tell folks that their $80k diesel truck towing 20k lbs runs on belts too. 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

    I never go out on to the property without an ax or something to cut a grapevine with. A Naturalist came to the place once studying Old Growth trees by core drilling, and that was his advice, never pass up a chance to cut grapevines! Bout forgot the best part of the story, we had a north slope Red Oak he dated to the 1730's.

      I bought mine lightly used, so well under that. But I think you could get one set up to mow for less. They are expensive for sure, but this is not a residential product. These are for big land area or commercial jobs. It is a massive pile of metal and steel with a Kubota engine. You need to demo one man; I was a skeptic too but here we are a year plus later and it gets more work than my 73 horse tractor.

    • @JoeTheFarmer
      @JoeTheFarmer  3 роки тому

      Sorry to hear about the leak buddy; should be an easy fix. If it makes sense, the top bolt of the wheel kit is in the 4th eye and the 2nd is second up from the bottom. How many hours on the machine now?

    • @jasonbarber8107
      @jasonbarber8107 3 роки тому +1

      @@JoeTheFarmer that’s either 4.5-5” cut height when I look at the chart.
      I think I’m still around 8 hours. One of the most exciting developments is that I realized I can wire up my accessories to be operated using the 12v kit I have on front and rear.
      So I have my 80 gallon sprayer ready to plug and play now. Also my spreader. Really makes it nice for those extra jobs to just hit a switch

    • @elenidemos
      @elenidemos 3 роки тому +2

      @@JoeTheFarmer If bought brand new, probably. If bought through a dealer, on idea, Ventrac probably has warranty regs that might void with the add ons. Also saw in other vids, they derated the diesel to pass emission regs in the US. So you might also have that to deal with.

    • @JoeTheFarmer
      @JoeTheFarmer  3 роки тому +2

      True. The diesel regs are getting out of hand IMO. One main reason I went with a 73hp tractor. At 75hp it would have to have DEF. The gas Ventrac is a beast, but not easy on fuel.

    I put one of theses on my Ventrac’s steering wheel and when your doing a lot of turning I find it more enjoyable to use.
