Incredible what this small team pulls off!

I loved the first game. I thought it balanced the story, stealth, puzzles, and action quite well. If this is more of the same, but bigger and somehow better then I'm all in.

Sadly they throw the balance almost 70/30 into the direction of this game being a walking simulator.

Umm…overall I was dissatisfied…all the previous games mechanics are there but every single one is implemented not nearly as well and actually is NEVER explained on the same level as the first game…newcomers WILL struggle. Also, as the previous poster stated it’s like 80% walking now, gone are the interesting zones like in the first game. The story is ok, but also is inferior to the first game. Imo, the first games story started off amazing, but got a little weaker towards the end. This game the story started ok, got better, but then falls off a cliff at the end! The ending is very emotional, which would be amazing if it were sad, but its not just sad, it feels so god damn forced and lackluster! The ending…well Melonz did an LP of it and well I think she summed it up pretty well..”Who the hell wanted This?”
Yeah the ending is terrible, not because it’s sad, but because it makes the entirety of the journey completely in vain…a true shame when considering have amazing and mind blowing the first game was.

Outstanding game that is heartbreaking. A true once a generation experience. This is probably the most underrated series on current gen right now that deserves recognition for its storytelling and gameplay. They borrow ideas from Naughty Dog (Uncharted) and put their own spin on it, with camera angles and how to maneuver around...and then ramp up the story with its deep emotional connection and pair it with the perfect soundtrack to set the tone. Masterpiece.

Very nice, balanced review. Might give this one a go.

the first one was okay, but tbh i was hoping they would go in a bit more of an action route with the sequel. the marketing at least gave me that kind of impression.
but graphically as well as gameplay wise it seems to be just a basic continuation of the first games, which already looked great though.

I recommend you try the first one
You gonna love even better bc it’s a tighter experience, short but never overstayed its welcome and it knows what it was set out to do
The story in requiem won’t get exciting till like chp9
Innocence doesn’t allow this cuz its an 8 hrs experience
If the first one was an AA last of us game
This one is an AAA uncharted game but done poorly
Bigger or longer is not always the preferred way
And from my own experience on the series x
It got glitches, bugs, UI stop functioning in the middle of the action sometimes and the game crashed on me once
Lets not mention i played it in 40 fps
    Overall
    My score would be
    Innocence 9/10
    Requiem 5/10

For me - it's best narrative driven game in the past decade or so - not even joking.

How does it surpass God of War, The Last of Us, Disco Elysium, Red Dead Redemption 2 or even Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy?

    • @mroutcast8515
      @mroutcast8515 2 роки тому +1

@@mick9707 the last of us is flat as hell in comparison, especially if you take part 2, which is nothing but cringe and cheap plot twists.
Disco Elysium has pretty average story, it's carried by characters roleplaying elements with how you can build and shape your character.
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is just heartwarming, but writing and narrative is pretty average.
God of War is pretty generic story excelled by father and sun relationship and some fun adventure thru Norse mythology.
Thing is - neither of these hits deep with it's narrative. These are just very well made games that are fun to play.
Red Dead Redemption 2 - is the only one having deep hitting narrative, but imho Plague Tale Requiem hits deeper, because it's about brother and sister, it's about bigger losses and bigger sacrifices, it's darker and more gritty. So yeah these two have the best and emotionally hitting narrative, with Requiem being bit more thought provocative.

@@mroutcast8515 fair enough, I just didn’t find it all that hard hitting, besides maybe a couple of moments. I found Guardians of the Galaxy’s characters far more endearing and just as well written, if not better. I found Plague Tale’s story about as good as God of War’s, but the gameplay of god of war is better and I found the setting and what was happening more interesting (possibly just due to my tastes).
TLOU Part 2 hit just as hard as plague tale for me. It has better cinematic presentation too which adds to the drama and immersion.

    Good.
We need more focused action adventure games.
Sick of all the intentionally bloated big budget games.

Rather have 20 hours of amazing experience where the story, chracters, music design and gameplay interact and intertwine to be something amazing intead of copy-paste missions like reptetive games like Monster Hunter or Valhalla.

    • @BoomstickGaming
      @BoomstickGaming  2 роки тому +3

Pretty solid, but it is demanding. Most of those frame drops you saw are from capturing in 4k on the same rig that the game is running on. Nvidia capture get's stressed when a game is pulling tons of resources.

Not my favorite type of games I play the first one out of chance I if I remember correctly I got it in a bundle or something and loved it and I would have to say after beating the second one this is absolutely my favorite game ever. And it's literally been 20 years since my old favorite game came out even longer actually

I'm playing it for free (gamepass) and let me tell you it's rough.
Conversely, to fill in the backstory I just watched a let's play of Plague Tale 1, and good grief watching Plague Tale 1 was twice as much fun as playing Plague Tale 2.
Basically they took a decent narrative driven stealth/action franchise and turned it into 80% walking simulator.
Also the voice acting is WAAAY better in Plague Tale 1.

@@budthecyborg4575 That's why I didn't play plague tale innocence. I don't like linear stealth. Plague Tale always looks like you need to go in a straight line.

@@D.J.Paige71 At least in Plague Tale 1 you're usually having fun going in a straight line, Plague Tale 2 is just walking casually in a straight line doing absolutely nothing.
