      Have to say, if that's true I am very disappointed. Like, I understand it's like you're "time travelling", but I'm a huge fan of non-Chibnall Doctor Who, so when I saw a Fourteenth Doctor deck I got super excited to see a Doctor Tribal deck, or maybe a unique spin on that.
      The kind of deck I dislike the most are decks where people just use any random commander just for the colors. This is EDH, you're _intended_ to involve your commander, not just take any old random Legend that you'll never play and that has nothing to do with your gameplan.

      @TheGrifcannon22 He did a good job. Its a very coplycated deck. I would have tutored Chromatog insted of Seedborn Muse, because he allready could make mana in the opponents turn. With Chromeatog you skip your next turn in each of your opponents turn, so you would not take an outer turn yourself. With the cards like The One Ring or Stasis Coffer you gain protection from everything until your next turn, and that would be for ever.

      To be fair, I played in a pauper-ish league last year (different rules but still based around commons, doesn't matter so I won't get into it) and went up against the Street Urchin deck. I had at least 20 kill spells in my deck, plus the other two players were packing as well. Did not matter. We were obliterated decisively.
      Edit: Although also to be fair, I was in Rakdos, so I couldn't deal with Street Urchin itself basically at all.

    Loved seeing the Pauper Commander representation from Tomer! In the past there was a lot of talk about pauper commander being too slow, but I'd like to see a pauper week now that the crew is playing in paper and the games are going much faster. • @batcow5148
      @batcow5148 2 місяці тому +2

      This was a weird game but decks like Tomers actually enable combo decks. If your deck creates a situation where it is impossible to win with creatures, either by board wiping every turn or killing every creature, you enable the decks that don't need creatures to win the game. The way to beat pillow fort combo decks isn't just to interact with them it is also to put pressure on them and when you create a situation where you are killing creatures that aren't providing value or pressuring you(like the buzzcrusher) you alleviate pressure from them and give them more time to lock down the board. Yes everyone should have played differently but, despite the fact that I love pauper commander decks, Tomers deck was not the good guy here.

    Fangren Marauder is actually very good tech now-a-days.
    Treasures have gotten overly ubiquitous, and even Foods/Clues/Bloods and other artifact tokens are getting more used all the time.
    Plus, it's not seemingly insignificant like 1 life per trigger, it's a big _five life per trigger._ So if someone else cracks three treasures, you gain _fifteen life_ for doing nothing.
    Same with Viridian Revel, except that one _draws you a card_ every time an artifact an opponent controls dies, still including treasures and other tokens.

    Seth did 2 sus plays in this game. The first was the surveil land and the second is when he sacced the draw zubara. He should have drawn first then scried. Trigger effects should happen first followed by the activated ability.

    Deckbuilding challenge: Build a deck that doesn't use generic mana. Think of it as generic mana being a colour identity. Only coloured pips and colourless pips. So no Sol Rings (costs generic mana), no cycling cards (costs generic mana to cycle), no Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx (costs generic mana to activate) etc.

    Soul Echo... If all of your stuff always has Flash, there's GOTTA be a way to loop a "bounce and recast for 1" in response to the trigger when it's out of counters
    Edit: Soul Echoes seems REALLY good... A 3 mana enchantment that, if not removed, gives you two of your own Upkeeps to play with negative life total

    a lot of the games since the switch to paper have felt really more disparate in power level than they used to, but i think the episodes this season have definitely gotten a lot better about it, whether it's been a deliberate change or not.
