As any child at that age. First communion is a big deal in many cultures. In mine it’s like a ‘rehearsal wedding’ with a nice venue, a five course meal and some dancing with the whole family from mother’s and father’s side. We had some traveller girls joining our group for the first communion for the church service and I wanted such a ‘weddingcake’ look with the tule and glitter as well. With the lacy gloves, matching purse and shoes with a little heel. Unfortunately my mother wouldn’t allow it because apparently we were ‘not that kind of people’ and she had a dress made for me from Laura Ashley fabric 😢. With shiny flat booties. I looked like a girl from the 1920’s. The only glitter I had came from the pearly buttons on my knitted matching cardigan which my nan made for me. At least I did have an aunt showing up at church that looked like a stunt double for Joan Collins with the hat and all 😂
Thelma is a totally amazing dressmaker. How she creates these dresses and costumes I’ll never know.

It's actually a very common thing. Real cake is more fragile and pricey. So sometimes the bottom layers are styrofoam and fondant, then have the real cake layers on top.

As someone with stage 4 cancer, I was horrified how she spoke about getting cancer from the tanning bed. I hope she never has children, because she will then know what a selfish way to speak like that was. I'd be devastated if my actions ever gave me cancer, and to take away the mother of my children.
