Okay I hadn't heard of Grace in years and I'm amazed at her progression. This groove is so interesting and mature! I was expecting her to get stuck releasing poorly produced pop songs as a lot of artists do early in their career. I'm glad she found a team of people who allow her to be creative and truly shine. Hopefully this gets the visibility it deserves! I'm definitely excited to see what comes next!

Yup, most young singers lose what made their voice unique when they age, honestly Grace has just done a better job maturing it and working on it. Her rasp and cracks feel so much more natural than before.

Her considerations were quite similar to Barbara Tuchman and to Elfriede Jelinek from Austria. There are a few radio interviews, where Grace reveals more about her personal attitude.
I used to really hate her, and I can honestly say that it was not out of jealousy. I really just disliked her voice so much and didn’t think that she deserved to win AGT, but she’s grown so much as a singer and an artist overall. She’s great! Her art in this video isn’t exactly my style, but I like the song and the rugged quality. It sounds really good. It’s just so amazing to hear her current music compared to her first few songs.

What am I missing here? There are about a billion people complaining about people who don't like Grace growing up, but I've not seen a single person who mentions not liking Grace growing up. As a middle aged woman raised in the punk & new wave era and spent my teens in the heyday of heavy metal, I have to say, this is an awesome way to tell us all "I'm growing up no matter what you think!" There's no foul language & she's got an edgy style without being hypersexualized, so I'm so IMPRESSED. (not that my opinion matters, but just saying) I love the moody distortion and the controlled anger in her voice. She's not screaming, but she's still calling us all out on what we think she should be. I always cringed at Simon's comparison to Swift, when I feel like she's more akin to Florence Welch or Lorde. This track just proves that she's more than pop. Bravo!

She has NOT CHANGED she has EVOLVED that is still grace, she just dropped the mask! She is taking charge and becoming independent, she is a young woman now and she is GROWING and LEARNING. She’s still finding out exactly who she is and she is doing that through experimentation. True grace fans will accept her and support her through it all, the good and the bad. Those “fans” who left only liked the masked “sweet” and “innocent” grace (not that she’s not innocent, she’s just not a small 12 year old little girl) I absolutely love the real ness of grace and her being her true authentic self, she is still NOT playing by the rules of the games because that’s not her, she is not CLAY you can’t CHANGE HER. When she cut her hair I knew she was gonna try her hand at this type of music. I liked her songs before but I’m totally digging this new side of her! You can really tell how comfortable she is in this style.
The interesting thing is that this song was made before she cut her hair.. She posted a part of it last March or maybe April during one of her Instagram posts :) (The Letters Vol. 2 were supposed to get released last spring so a lot of songs were made then....)

Great to hear but it's so sad for how her career had progressed. A quick YT Grace searched from 2017 to 2020 would have shown her 1st fans the 50 plus great songs she wrote. Her label stopped releasing her albums because all her 1st fans didn't bother keeping in touch after AGT. That's not unusual though, Brian Crum from that same AGT season had fans that had no idea he had a few albums 2 years after the show. There are music fans then there are AGT fans, 2 totally different groups. Tapeface was the only one who gained fans after the show.

She brilliantly, plays three different parts in this MV, the music industry, represented by the devil horns, the young man, represented by the mustache and herself as narrator of the story. In the end she says, if not careful and wise, you will find yourself right back where you started from. In others words, wherever you go there you are!
