    The Lodge looks really nice and its a great location. You mention its not historic but if you think about it the 90s were 30 years ago now. That's historic to some people lol.

      The location of that place honestly could NOT be better. So close to so much. Don't get me started on how long ago the 90s were though. I was looking for something I once owned in the 90s, hit up and searched eBay and saw the word vintage and about cried. 😂

    Watching the whole video but commenting on what you said in the first minute 🤪 I agree, UA-cam kinda makes you get out and go places 😎👍

    Thanks for another great video. I appreciate the effort put into these vlogs. These give me ideas for when I go back for my 2nd trip (planning a week between March and May) after a 10 year hiatus. Your traveling subscriber in the Valley.

    That old grill, bed and frame look to be from a WW2 era Dodge WC series 1/2 ton truck.
    That’s pretty cool to see something that most likely was used for the war effort made its way to being used at a mine in Utah.
    I hope it stays up there.

    Talking about Escalante and Dominguez. On highway 50 north out of Delta, Colorado you come to a canyon named after Escalante and a little further up highway 50 is another canyon named after Dominguez. They are between Delta and Grand Junction Colorado. I've hiked in both of them and they are beautiful and much to see there. Escalante and Dominguez got around the west in their time and warranted naming canyons after them. Thanks for this beautiful video. I have wanted to see Vermillion Cliffs, Antelope canyon and the wave in that area. Seen pictures but not the real thing yet.

      We're in the same boat with Antelope Canyon and the Wave. We've entered into the lottery for the Wave a couple times and haven't been successful. We hope one day!

    That was a great idea illuminating the mine shafts. They looked fairly well-maintained in comparison to many I’ve seen on UA-cam. It’s a good thing that the openings were covered with grates. Otherwise, people would be scrambling down that ladder in a heartbeat.

    • @CactusAtlas
      @CactusAtlas  2 роки тому +2

      Haha! The temptation to climb down would be tempting for sure. I mean, compared to some ladders it looks in good condition but you don't really ever know until weight is put on it and then... well... can only hope there's no "oops" moment. 😂

      Wow, thanks! This area of the country has no shortage of stunning landscape so it's not hard to be awed by everything when exploring. 😊 Hope you get a chance to visit!

    Great Video - The vastness of the scenery has to be seen to be believed. Drove along the 89A about two weeks ago en-route to North Rim Grand Canyon, it's a great drive unfortunately our schedule didn't allow any time to explore the cliffs further so watching you was most interesting.

    • @CactusAtlas
      @CactusAtlas  2 роки тому

      That has often been our experience as well - just no time to stop and explore. It was a nice change to be able to devote time this time around. 😄

    🤣he said wood shaft...sorry, I had to. Just made me think of Beavis & Butthead. Seriously, 100% it was a great episode and you did the cliffs justice! Definitely think that you did a not so often done tour of the cliffs and the mines. Can't wait for the rest of the trip!!

    • @CactusAtlas
      @CactusAtlas  2 роки тому +1

      Still got a few more to edit (heck, even from the previous Utah trip too) so plenty more to come. And honestly? I made the same crack with Glenn last night about the mine shaft. 😅

    I really appreciate all you do for the channel, especially getting up early for those sunrise shots. I've been down that exact highway twice now but have not had the time to check it out as good as you did.
    Funny how we stopped at that exact Escalante/Dominguez historic spot but the story boards were not there yet, so we had no idea what it was at the time. Googled it later. Love, love ANY orange cliffs!

    Well Done Glenn and Amy! This video is by far my favorite! Without appearing like a weirdo, LOL, I've been planning hiking trip for next fall in Utah and AZ by watching your adventures. Coincidently, I'm going to the North Rim Grand Canyon and now will add Vermillion Cliffs to the trip. thanks Glenn! And Amy great edition job!

      Thank you so much! and ooh! That sounds like it is going to be an amazing trip now. Ideal honestly. And combining the North Rim with the Vermilion Cliffs is perfect! 😄

    Visited the mine yesterday and had trouble finding the TH. I'm not quite sure where you started, but 8 miles of driving takes you west of the TH; at least that's what I did. The red& white sign is missing and the vertical plastic gov't sign was on the ground. I saw another car there and did find the TH, it's .2 miles east (towards Lee's Ferry) from mile-marker 550 if anyone needs help finding it.

      Thanks for that detail and I’m sure it will help others. Been working on something for the future outside of UA-cam that will help folks find locations like this more easily. I do enjoy hearing that you went. Near to hear from another person who experienced it!

    Someone with mining experience would know better than I, but when you illuminated the mine shaft, it appeared to be the top of the elevator cage. Perhaps when the grate was placed over the mine shaft, the elevator was secured to prevent the adventurous from wanting to venture down. Very nice video, thanks for sharing.

    • @CactusAtlas
      @CactusAtlas  2 роки тому

      Ohhhhh. You know, I was wondering while editing (as I use headphones and can hear things a bit differently before fully edited) what the sound was when the second rock that Glenn dropped hit bottom. It sounded differently - like metal or glass or something. Which let's be real... I'm sure plenty of things have found its way down there, be it dirt, rocks, or other things that should have been packed out. I wonder... I wonder if there's some truth to your hypothesis. 🤔

    • @carolguezen5829

      I was just thinking the same thing. It did not look like the bottom of the mine floor.

  • @johntuttle4486

    Any danger of radiation from the mine?

    Nice! Can you list the music titles used in the video?

    • @CactusAtlas
      @CactusAtlas  2 роки тому

      Oh gosh. In all honestly I don't tend to keep track of the music that is used in the videos as I'm more often than not downloading 2-3x (sometimes a whole lot more 😅) just trying to find something that fits and works. It was certainly from Epidemic Sound though. Wish I could remember!
