Great Podcast! Really brighten my day! Since wool in general doesn’t cause allergy problems up till this project it is not likely, the dyes used to color the yarn. Once the garment is washed, I’d give it a good sock and rinse maybe more than one time. I don’t know if you can wash the yarn you have yet to use. My husband has a real problem with dyes in new clothes they have to be washed right away. He never could go into fabric stores the smell of the fabric dyes would have him sneezing like crazy. Maybe with the nice weather hang it outside to help air out garment. Congratulations on all the whips finished!!💗🧶
Aw, thank you. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. 💕 Ooh maybe it's the dye. I'm not sure. The wool is Peruvian wool, which I've never used before. It has really long hairs like Alpaca but is not as soft. It's more rough like rustic wool. So I'm not sure. I don't think I can soak the new balls either because I'd struggle to get them dry. The UK is still raining, so we have no sunny days to air things out at the minute. I'm seriously hoping that changes, but yesterday I had the heating on 😭 I'll try to persevere with it though. It makes my eyes itch and makes me sneeze lots. It's horrible. My worry is finishing it and not being able to wear it 😬💕
Welcome Dax ginger boy!😺 aww he's adorable. My old tuxie boy was scared when I got my kitten. For 3 weeks he wouldn't go near her unless he gave her a good boshing. He slunk around the house with dad ears until I was ready to cry and say ive made a terrible mistake. Then all of a sudden for no obvious reason he just accepted her and they snuggled up together. She used to fall asleep holding his tail!😹💕 Hope ffion and dax and Mr pickles are all friends soon. Xxx
Aww! That's cute! Mr Pickle has accepted Dax in a 'Oh, you live here now, do you?' Kind of way. He's had a sniff, looked at him, and let Dax sniff him. Just non plussed, really. Ffion still won't be in the same room, but she is still coming home and sleeping here, so it will be OK.
I think when Ffion is a little older, she will love a lap. Our Suzie was never cuddly when she was young, but as soon as the weather cooled off she loved a cuddle. That said, one of her kittens was a pale ginger colour and he was super cuddly (and very clumsy!)
We have a ginger kitty and he is our cuddliest boy. He also - so our cat tree has a hammock thing but it's a bowl, the fabric is attached around a metal loop that sticks out from the cat tree and then the middle of the bowl is unsupported? He's the only cat who will put up with being put in it. He never goes in on his own, but sometimes he stays for an hour or more after being deposited there. He likes being picked up and cradled like a baby, having his belly rubbed, and sitting on or pressed up against someone. If none of his people are available, he sits on his (much smaller) sister. This next bit is about my experiences with pet tarantulas so you can skip it or just show it to Terry if you're already tensing up to run. When I was a kid we usually had a pet red hair tarantula, the ones native to where we live, and I never saw one in the wild in 30 years of living in the SF Bay Area, but in October the males would come out at dusk and would wander around looking for a female, and if my dad spotted one in the parking lot when he was leaving work, he'd get a shoebox and catch it and bring it home for my mom who set up a terrarium on the kitchen counter, and we had an open-plan house so it was basically the centre of the house. The males only live a few months after reaching maturity so the following summer it would pass on and then my dad would catch a new one again in October. They were quite steady, didn't move around much unless they were stalking crickets. When my father took an early retirement from that job we had to go to a pet store and buy a Rosea tarantula, from Chile, and it lived for about 5 years before the cat got the lid off the tank and there wasn't a lot left. She was more energetic (they're merely "shy and docile" to the California tarantula's "very shy and very docile") but I won't horrify you further with any cute anecdotes. They do make very good pets.
Aw, your ginger kitty sounds cute! Dax is definitely more loving than our other cats already. I can't believe your dad would catch tarantulas and take them home as pets! Haha! That's so funny but also terrifying. I read it out to Terry. He would be like your dad if we lived in an area that had them. And I probably wouldn't be with him 🤣
Blimey Kelly, you've been busy and got so much done. Well done you x Gingers are such beautiful friendly cats in my experience too. I've got a ginger son but not had a ginger cat.... yet.... Erm...can't remember what else I wanted to comment 🤔 great episode as always x
I have been busy! I'm so happy to get things finished too. Our ginge is definitely proving to be the most loving cat so far. He's super cute! We missed you at Knit night last week. I hope you'll be back soon xx
@@RowRowandKades absolutely. I've had a weird few weeks with taking care of my mum's cats and generally being disorganised. Is it Thursday this week? X
@@RowRowandKades I'll have to see what I can do. My husband usually wants me to watch something with him on Saturday night. Hope you have a nice time seeing family x
Love all of your finished projects One think I have learned is that I spend far more time procrastinating than it actually takes me to do the task. 🙂 Ginger cat or tarantula? Cat wins every time.
I'm the same. I can scroll on my phone for hours and not realise, then I'm wondering where the time has gone and why I've got nothing done 🤦🏼♀️ Haha cat definitely wins!
Ow.. Dax is just too cute ! Hm, perhaps his cuteness scares Fionn off ? 😉 Big ups for all the FO's and the blocking ! I am curious to see how you style the geogradient and find your fade. As I am usually unsure how to, and haven't actually worn my fade yet... oops... That lilac sweater will look nice, I think. And if you do'nt like the colour, maybe you could dye it over once it's finished ? A laceweight sweater does sound quite lush..
Haha, maybe it IS the cuteness 😂 She doesn't understand it. The find your fade is not too bad to style since it's the same shape as my Bated Breath Shawl, but the Geogradient is actually a bit awkward. I'll have a go in the next video. Oh yes, I've thought before about possibly overdyeing it. I might still do that. I'll see what I think if I ever get it done! 😅
I hope once it has been washed you will cure any allergies you might have with that jumper. Love Dax. I once had 3 cats. After they all went to cat heaven we did get Sam but husband won't let me have another cat now. I do miss Sam - he was 18 when he died. I just have to get my cat fix with the Grand daughter's pussy cats. One has 3 and the other one xx PS That baby jacket is just lov
Oh, I really hope so. I'm not sure how to test it, and I'm a bit nervous to knit on it when I get such extreme reactions from it 🤦🏼♀️ I love having a few cats. 1 is never enough. Our most was 4, but 3 is enough right now with a dog, a gerbil, and some fish 😂 x
Well done on all the finished items 👍.
Dax is beautiful, I love ginger toms.
The baby hoodie is gorgeous, so cute xx
Aw thanks Dorothy.
He's a cutey! Xx
I love the blue on your Pimpom shawl. I think it really anchors the piece well. And congrats on the new addition - he's absolutely adorable :)
Yes I totally agree. I'm so happy with it now.
He's a cutey!
Hooray for your four FOs!! 🎉 And a couple more soon to be FOs! Also hooray for the blue scallops on your PimPom shawl! They’ll look beautiful.💙
I know!!! I'm so happy they're all done. I'm looking forward to casting on more things now!
