Black belts that have a fake diploma on earning a black belt. Black belt that was belted by the fake diploma black belt (which is -not- legit). The answer is always the same :)
In my city 90% of this is not legit. I exposed them and what... nothing happens. Too many people run fake MA. More and more. They see an opportunity and they capitalise it on ignorant people. If you have no clue about cooking, and you come to my class, and I'm the Cheff, and I teach you some bullshit, for you, I'm your master, and since you have no clue about this, you have no standard on how it should be done. As long as I can show you some shit. Know what I mean? Plus people hate to be wrong or being tricked into something, so they will get also deffensive. This should get stopped, but these regulations sucks + they make the GOV money so why not. Real Martial Arts classes are hard, and so many people quit. Which means less money for the GOV perhaps... It's like with porn... people have addiction, but GOV earns billions on porn, so why help people? Just pretend you're helping. Same with traditional education. Scams are everywhere. If you're smart you can avoid them, and not even them... but with time sure you can... if you're open minded and is willing to change your point of view. Which again, average people don't give a shit about this, about personal development.
I'm talking in general about Martial Arts. It's not that I have anything going as a one man. I don't change anything, unfortunately. However, that was in the UK. I was looking at stand up fighting. The way they train, their technique, their payment method etc... and believe me or not... people actually pay more for less than if they were paying less for more. Which is crazy. Though it's about community, which many legit MA might fail to do in a way... Not sure, but I see scammers being more successful than legit stuff. But a scammer has more skill, he lies basically - maybe better person skills. As we need to remember Martial Arts is a business and people are the client.
Yeah. Problem is the scammers that exploit this. People have no clue about Martial Arts, they want to learn, they are ignorant about this subject - that's fine, that's why they pay to learn. However, these people get sold a step to step way on how to disarm a sniper rifle that's 2km away from you - bullshit. And people buy into it because they think with magical Martial Art's power like in the TV it's possible. People in general are dumb, you, me, everyone. If you tell a monkey that he is a goat, he will believe he is a goat and start acting like a goat. Know what I mean. But of course, business wise, this generates money for the 'state', the 'GOV', so why regulate it.
Aurelian Spodarec so true. I had my kids in dance classes, many, for several years. They learned a lot. BUT after a while, it's the same thing, you learn to identify which ones are better. And yeah parents will just pour money into a bad product.
Last year I did BJJ at a small school. 1 instructor and he put me with all the higher belt levels. We had to roll every class and I had no idea what I was doing. No one was giving me directions on the point of the Roll and where it needed to be taken. Obviously a pin but I didn't know any moves and I was also out of shape. I'd like to go back very very much but I don't think I will until I'm in good cardio shape.

Black belt is just the beginning. Means you’ve just *begun* mastering the basics and are prepared to now build upon them (something that intrigued me when I first heard it). Currently training for my 2nd degree brown in Kenpo Jitsu and practicing what I know daily in preparation for the day of my black belt test (likely about a year or so from now). Childhood dream progressively coming to fruition that’s helped me with ego, confidence, patience, breathing and remaining calm under literal/figurative pressure. That said, I’ve found walking away is enough to de-escalate most situations, which is pleasant. Props to you on your achievements, looking forward to my test 🙂

I'm hoping that says something about where I'm at now or at least my expectations for my own abilities. Black belt seemed so far away back then but coming back, I'm inspired to keep on trucking.

This was beautiful, epic, emotional, and beyond amazing. Well done sir, well done! I've been a jiu-jitsu practitioner for almost 3 years now. I have worked my way into the blue belt arena, and wow, what I difference from white to blue was. Challenging, fun, and a never ending learning curve. I love it!
@boris brian: I hear you . . . but I'm not sure. If I may say so, I've achieved equivalent in another discipline. My reaction was more like a sober acknowledgment of it being just another stage in a long and never ending process . . .
The thing that stands out to me is how you constructed the opportunities for Peter to demonstrate a particular technique in a particular situation when rolling with him directly. I have no experience in Jiu Jitsu, but have been an instructor in a Kenpo variant. As they say, game recognizes game! And you, sir, are a very good instructor!
this video is amazing, just seeing the difference in jiu jitsu styles, the explosive players vs the patient players, and all that - incredible how he was able to handle all that
@@TheSublimeLifestyle It was a selling point from the Gracies side. They are all about marketing. (They sent Royce instead of Rickson to the UFC for marketing purpose) If you are a good boxer and weigh 70kgs you can knock out some 90-100kg guy without a problem, if the guy doesnt know how to box/fight. The thing is, most people have seen how to throw a punch, or even faught as a kid/adult. So they have a small experience. But if the guy knows basic boxing and you are a good boxer, you have a lot more problem with winning as smaller fighter. Same goes for BJJ, but most people have ZERO grappling experince. A 70kg blackbelt will have problem with a 90/100kg blue/purple belt. Size matters a lot. But if they other person doesnt have any technique (which you dont if you never trained wrestling/judo/bjj) you probably will submit a larger opponent.
Gauntlet is an understatement. Rolling with everyone in the class, purple and higher at resistance, then with the head instructor at the end with no gas in the tank really shows how much you want it. Dude earned it.

This is one of the best grading videos I have ever seen. To see such determination and will to hold on when faced with such a challenge is absolutely inspiring. I hope to one day be half the martial artist Peter has proven to be.
Pure grit, determination, and the willingness to not give up. Dude is a beast. Congrats bro. Amazing class and teacher too.
This is legit black belt.
These days there are too many black belts that are fake.
And yeah parents will just pour money into a bad product.
as a bjj beginner this was bloody inspiring. Thank you for this amazing video.
C.C Junior i had a similair experience a week ago. But i watched videos and tutorials of beginner moves and started asking how they got past my guard etc. I’ve been having fun Ever since! I’m out of shape too, it will help your cardio!

Most proud day of my life when I handed over
My brown belt for the black. 12 long years it took me.
that is when youknow its real, but even at black belt you wont stop rolling. in this its just too much to learn man
Black belt is just the beginning.
Any tips for me I want to start BJJ but am nervous and feel like I will get mauled and I feel like I don’t have the stamina or conditioning for it
@@trapgamer2576 just get in there man. The amount of respect you’ll get is unreal. You dork “get mauled,” and everyone will want to help you. It’s a great atmosphere. You’re a family in the gym. I urge you to just TRY
@@jessecosta9483 How old were you when you started out? (if you don’t mind me askin)
A beautifull exam. Loved to see the look of his training partners, they all we eager to be part of this day and were giving him congratulations and encouraging looks on each break. A great team team, and a great teacher to achive that. And Peter was amazing!
I remember my exams on Karate and that's so true, you going there and they just destroy you until you can't breath anymore + you need in every moment show technical good form. But men, hearing "you pass" after with your shins destroyed and almost-death feeling is so good
Same dude. My test was a week long for 8-10 hours a day. Absolutely the hardest week of my life. The end was glorious though.
Enjoyed the hell out of this. Just had my fifth class and strained my intercostal and have to take a break for a couple of weeks. Getting old sucks. Got 5 injuries that I am managing right now. Was able to lift and roll until last night.
Wish I had done this as a young guy. All I can do now is have fun, learn, become a good partner for others to have a good time and spread the fun.
you can still be badass never forget that
Yes, recovery time is a little longer as you age. Dont be ashamed if you have to miss a class or two or a week to recover & come back a badass. People dont know till they are where you are. At least you're still doing it.
Had tears in my eyes watching this video, good boy, you earned it, this is the beginning of learning.
This is motivating me to continue BJJ. I just started my journey and I’m very excited for the struggles and knowledge I gain. Respect for Peter for earning his black belt I hope to be as good as him one day
How you coming along?
How’s it going?
Still going buddy?
hey are u still hittin the mats?
Hes dead rest in peace 😢

Surprised u don't know what Jiu Jitsu is to be honest, one of the biggest ones out there. Every town has a Jiu Jitsu/Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gym
@@Andrew-fn9oc I had heard about Jiu-Jitsu, but when it appeared on screen as Brazilian I thought it wasn't normal Jiu-Jitsu. I had never heard about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Welcome to a new life my friend
(Hope you star your bjj journey)
Wow, such incredible skill and tenacity. Congrats to him! And I couldn't help choking up at the end when he gave him his belt. What a journey.
I come back to this every now and then. I saw it when it first came out. That's 5 years or more now. The interesting thing is that what seemed like impossible moves, incredible flow etc... now seem quite common place, ordinary even. I'm hoping that says something about where I'm at now or at least my expectations for my own abilities. Black belt seemed so far away back then but coming back, I'm inspired to keep on trucking.
I have the same realisation, now it almost seems there are so many missed opportunities or better routes in this video that the young man could’ve taken
So beautiful! For all of us who study BJJ, it's so emotional when one of my teammates gets promoted. All of the work, the trials, fatigue, doubt, pressure, discomfort, along with all of the camaraderie, the growth, the friendships. What a beautiful art. Thank you for sharing this. A+
While trying to rest with a deep breath, his eyes are closed and he starts to do sparring with them still closed. For me, he is a master
I can feel the respect bleeding from every second of this video. Everyone involved is a true master of self, with the awareness to be humble, and the desire to improve. Amazing.
Honestly it’s incredibly hard work I can’t imagine how happy he is. My brother has been doing BJJ for just over 2 years now and got his blue belt he was over the moon I can’t imagine the pain and the determination that can get you all the way to Black. It’s not easy congrats to him

My dad got a black belt in Akkido BJJ and blue belt in karate
On his first date he had to go to the er before it bc he needed stitches
Did your brother train everyday?
i cried at the end when it said discover who you are
The endurance and strength he showed was amazing
"Youth is wasted on the young!" :-) Amazing endurance has Peter! I'll be taking my BB test this December at the Valente Brothers (Miami). I'll be 53.
K. Pádraig O'Kane Well I'll say thank you for opening my eyes. I was tripping earlier about turning 35 this June. You said you are 53..be happy you aren't 73 lol
Thanks... I started in 1995-6, too. Dig this! My friend who is a Brown Belt 4 stripe is going to be testing at the same time. He'll be...... 73!!!!!
Good luck! I attend a Valente Brothers affiliated academy in Houston and will hopefully be testing for my brown belt in a couple of months. I am 46, so my black belt test will come around the same age as you are sir. I cant attend class as often as I wish I could due to family and life in general, but the journey from white to purple has been long and rewarding. I have had the pleasure to meet many great people. Professor Pedro or Gui will be down here to give a seminar and test for belt promotions.
The one on 163rd?
K. Pádraig O'Kane HAMMER ☠️💪
I like how most people see this as sweaty guys rolling around on the ground but really this is a modern art with artist like Royce grace and other bjj legends
Great display! Was great to see his teacher, who was clearly way more skilled than the rest, let him finish it in style and letting him have a moment. Great dlaplay
I'm exhausted watching this, i need a steak and water
anonymous i love getting handjobs!
LOL Me too, man
Dude, these tests take hours bro, I'm exhausted just going a whole hour cx
Derek Shelby ill take a steak anytime

I keep coming back to this test, it’s a really captivating video on the heart of a black belt. That headlock escape from that one blue was tough definitely claustrophobic!
I don't know much about Jiu Jitsu however Peter is amazing. I kept noticing how well he was pacing himself. controlling his breathing in turn controlling is enviorment.
I love it!
Even I started clapping at the end... This was great, congratulations Peter!
Roydean, you are an EXCELLENT instructor, and it shows in your students. A true BJJ class act.
Ahhh yes, the art of folding Gi's while people are still in them

First time I'd ever seen that! Was the best part, for sure.
I legit said "whoa, smart"
I think I heard the black gi start to rip right before the tap lol
Those who have trained know how hard it is to go round after round. Much respect!
What an awesome, humble group of warriors! Congrats Peter! I wish I had a school like that near me.
That satisfaction you have when you get the black belt, I can almost feel it after watching the whole video
@boris brian: I hear you . . . but I'm not sure. If I may say so, I've achieved equivalent in another discipline. My reaction was more like a sober acknowledgment of it being just another stage in a long and never ending process . . .
I believe you, martial arts is a journey not a destination
I really like the teacher ! I like his energy. It's like really calm and wise yet strong and powerful. Great to learn from him
This inspired me to never give up no matter what.
Legend says the test is still going today
Nice 👏🏼
The thing that stands out to me is how you constructed the opportunities for Peter to demonstrate a particular technique in a particular situation when rolling with him directly.
I have no experience in Jiu Jitsu, but have been an instructor in a Kenpo variant. As they say, game recognizes game! And you, sir, are a very good instructor!
Peter: Defeats all people
Sensei: YOU HAVE CHOSEN DEATH
That ending, ive got tears in my eyes
this video is amazing, just seeing the difference in jiu jitsu styles, the explosive players vs the patient players, and all that - incredible how he was able to handle all that
10:00 purple belt is A BEAST! Congratz, Peter!
Seems like hes bigger and stronger
@@guest0046 that matters, but technique is equally important
Guest 28 wasn’t BJJ made to combat this exact excuse? 🥴

It was a selling point from the Gracies side. They are all about marketing. (They sent Royce instead of Rickson to the UFC for marketing purpose)
If you are a good boxer and weigh 70kgs you can knock out some 90-100kg guy without a problem, if the guy doesnt know how to box/fight.
@@guest0046 you have no idea about the skill gap between a black belt and a blue belt. even with 30kg difference the blue will get absolutely smashed.
I trained shitoryu karate for 7 years
the next 3 years were muay thai, boxing, and kickboxing
I want Jiu Jitsu to be the next part of my journey
Juijitsu will be the most humbling cause black belts make you feel like a small child
Throw some judo in there.
Gauntlet is an understatement. Rolling with everyone in the class, purple and higher at resistance, then with the head instructor at the end with no gas in the tank really shows how much you want it. Dude earned it.
His soul and dedication inspires me so much as a fresh (6 months in) white belt! BJJ seems to be a constant struggle and I love it.
Bad Jim stick with it don't get the blue belt sickness lol
Such a grind!! Love it!
julioarroyo751 dude if I ever get the blue belt I will cry and respect it too much to quit
I'm also a white belt as was super motivated and inspired by this video.
3 months in and I show up everyday & do every open mat, update me on your one year bud
Wow, what a beautiful cerimony
Congratulations, boy!
You really deserve that belt!
And co gratulations to the master, very respectable crew 👏👏👏
This is awesome, what an incredible display of more or less everything he's learned in thousands and thousands of hours of mat time.
I throughly enjoyed watching this man achieve his black belt. Good work. I really miss training.
Roy, I started BJJ in November 2017 and constantly search for things on here that keep the honor of the martial art. I see your videos have that, and I appreciate it and the content itself.
Getting your black belt is honestly a tear jerking experience, I remember the day I got mine, It took me a good ten years to get, and I swear I literally slept with it on, for I was just in a state of disbelief and happiness.
That was amazing to watch and see what they have to go thru. People who call grappling boring have no idea what they’re talking about man

So how was it? Are you still practicing? I am 36 and thinking about getting into my self mainly for the exercise.

My instructor finally got his black belt, proud of him
Amazing video. That's a real demonstration of BJJ, nice transitions, Real sparring and definitely not boring... it's very useful and pleasant to watch good athletes fight at this level
Congratulations. I felt so proud for him. The emotions ran high in the end.
Thank you! That intro section was awesome, I showed it to my mom which has been skeptical about me starting BJJ with little knowledge about martial arts. It helped her understand how safe it is and that it
even at black belt level! She said it was very comforting. Especially 0:45 where it showed what happens when a submit happens and how "peacefully" it happens.
I got exhausted from watching 5 minutes into the video.... Inspiration to work on my cardio. Respect.
Germain De Santa Ana I miss it at times and the knowledge I gained via sparing for cardio versus a daily dose of mundane jogging/running.
Dude 14:36...so effortless. really enjoyed watching the way the teacher rolled with him more than anyone else. It was so calm and serene. I took so much away from this video though, 04:05 just to name one. This was an awesome video. Grats to the young man and thanks for uploading for the rest of us to learn from.
What I liked about the video was the fact that they showed everything. Even when he wasn't able to pass the black belt's guard. Sometimes someone will have that game that just smashes your own, but don't give up.
This was actually so entertaining to watch for someone who hasn't watched BJJ before. Cool stuffs :)
This is a very emotional, good video. Congratulations to Peter
Great job dude! Doing your black belt is like fighting the demons to test your willingness to give up, which you showed never to give up! Congrats on your achievement!!
The respect and honour in this sport is phenomenal. Wish I had access to this glorious sport.
