  • This morning I went to see the Northwestern leave Seattle for Salmon Tendering Season. First I went down to the shipyard to see them head out and then I ran down to the Seattle Boat Locks to see them go through the Locks. You will see the Northwestern moving around the Fremont Cut and the Seattle Boat Locks. Today is a day I will not forget, it was awesome. I hope you all enjoy this video of the Northwestern. Don't Forget to Dream Big.

Unique among crabbing, but there were 1000s of marco hull fishing vessels worldwide. Its an extremely seaworthy design.

Interesting video - The maneuverability of the boat was intriguing. My family and I met Edgar Hansen at the NY State Fair (Syr. NY) several years ago for the Discovery Channel was promoting them (Jake Anderson was to attend but couldn't). It was a pretty big crowd. Seemed like a nice guy - gave us an autograph to give to our son who couldn't be there. Anyway, I made a comment to him pointing to the crowds and said, "Did you ever think that this documentary you are part of would've been this big?" He looked out and I could've sworn he had a look of revelation and wonderment of the whole thing. Thanks for sharing this!

looks like northwestern is transporting a pair of waverunners on her aft deck, didsn't think people used those in alaska due to the always-freezing cold water..

Northwestern is my favorite ship from the show, and it is great that Sig is from the same country as me.

Wow, it's SO much smaller than it looks on the show! I'm shocked! I had been under the impression that it were profoundly longer, wider, and taller, than it truly seems to be. I wonder why there appears to be such a significant size variation, between your footage, and the footage used for the show. I guess it's possible that, for some reason, the show, intentionally, tries to utilize angles that make it appear larger; however, I can't quite determine why they would even want, or bother, to do such a thing!🧐🤯

There's about owned by Trident Seafoods called the Bountiful. It's about 180 feet long, but when you go by it, it doesn't look 180.

So is this a completely different crew than the Discovery crew? I imagine they have different crews for different seasons.

Edgar was at the Helm of the Northwestern, Norman was on the deck and walked toward the Wheelhouse of the Northwestern and I don't know the other 2 crew members for Salmon Tendering Season.
