It let you know how good you truly are when you have a gun with pinpoint accuracy “every time“ the rest of it is left up to you. Having 100% confidence in your rifle is a great feeling when placing your shot.

Im a hunter of nearly 20 years. My first rifle was a 22lr. But for a hunt on medium game I would say 7mm08. It combines the positive traits from .243 and .308 that they dont share. Although I have no idea if you would be able to source the ammunition or not in your country. .243 would be my go to for an international hunt on most game due to the versatility of the game you can ethically harvest with the wide range of loads available.
Great video! I have the same rifle and use it deer hunting, I prefer 45 grain solid on larger animals like whitetail deer and use v max on coyotes , hogs and other small animals. Just my 2 cents.

I killed a 200 plus pound 8 point at 200 yards this year and hit him at a angle and got his lungs and he dropped in his tracks! Hogs is just whatever shot I get cause most of the time I see them is when I run up on them and they are moving and its pretty much a body shot. My gun has been affectionately named "Pink Mist"!

Jason, suppressors for rifles are widely used here in South Africa and are sold over the counter. To my knowledge there are no restrictions to selling or using it.
I have a pair of Hornets. One is a Browning Micro that I bought the very moment they were released several years ago and the other is a Winchester 1885 Low Wall. The report of that cartridge isn't problematic even without ear protection but I'm curious, what is that thing on the end of your barrel and if it's some kind of silencer, why would you bother to use it? thanks.
Hi yes that is for sure a mute silencer...the reason is my children do also shoot a lot with the rifle and help them not to become (gun-shy) as we then do practice quite often and also this is to keep the surrounding animals calm ...especially when taking down a few animals on one day... I do have a certain load that i use, and when i remove the silencer the rifle needs to be zeroed in again.
You must have gun shops in Hawaii. A lot of people hunt there. Ruger is a American brand that has to be available there. The licensed gun dealer could order it for you....
Ive got a good friend and he takes at least one white tail every season with his 22 hornet. I use a 22-250 and i usually get one per season every once in a while i get 2.
@@JOELCONLEY I've shot coyotes with both the .22 hornet and .223 and the .22 hornet is an absolute sleeper round/cartridge for inside a couple hundred yards. It'll drop the coyote dead on the spot every single time with a Winchester super-x JHP. Mine shoots lights out accurate. It's an old anschutz with the most amazing tiger striped wood. Glass bedded with my uncles trigger job. Sold it because he needed money. Also sold me an old anschutz .222 with all the little goodies he's done to it and oh my. You can print a ragged hole in the target with that rifle! I don't care how much faster a .223 rem round is, if it's not hitting its mark, it's useless. I've seen coyotes run so far after getting smoked by a .224 Valkyrie at 100 yards. Like it just zips right through them & doesn't even have time to fragment or anything. Meanwhile my .22 hornet with a JHP just hits em like a freight train inside 150 yards. And that seems to be the standard distance at which I go "oh snapz theres a coyote right there's" . Get yo self a hornet folks!

@@JOELCONLEY oh yah ammo is so hard to find. Isn't any easier in the states and when you do find it in stores,. It's about $50 for 50 so it costs almost as much as a large center-fire round to shoot. At least it's not $70-$80 in stores as opposed to online. I always put 3 boxes away for hunting and just making sure it's on. Too expensive for target shooting. I wish I knew how to reload but I'm happy that factory Winchester ammo shoots so nice through it. Doesn't care for the lighter 30 grain Hornady vmax though.
@M Knight I've tinkered with reloading on my buddies setup. It's fun, some would say addictive. But cost of initial setup is prohibitive if you dont shoot a pile.
Using a 22 hornet let you know how good you are. I am batting 1000 with my hornet. Never had one deer take a step with a neck shot. When your rifle hits a dime every time at 100 yards, and I mean every time. That gives you 100% confidence on each shot. If it does not drop, there is no one to blame but you. using that small caliber keeps you sharp on precision hits. I do recommend higher calibers if you doubt your skills as a precision hitter. The gun has the precision, do you have the skills of knowing when to take the animal and how to take the animal. Plus knowing and having the ability to let it walk if the shot is not there.
If you ever have case neck stretching problems which you will loading your own amo get the rifle k out and your dies at the same time you won't look back try this load on K round 40 grain soft nose Speer 1017 or equivalent hornady .power 11.5 of Hercules 2400or 10.5 Hodge 110.check your rifle specs to see if will handle the pressure my krico 400 twin trigger deluxe did but that a medium to heavy Schilling barrel on it .I SHOULD NEVER HAVE SOLD IT.👍🏼
What I find amazing is the fact that many people discount the lethality of the 22 caliber. In my humble opinion the 22 is probably the best of all the amunition taking into consideration muzzle velocity and drop. Just because a round is small doesn't mean it's less lethal then some of your larger rounds .. The most important thing is shot placement and a skilled Hunter or marks-man can be just as lethal as many military caliber rounds .. it wasn't uncommon to deer hunt with a 22 pre 1960's head shots and heart and lungs were the most common used in the smaller calleber. From stories passed down the 22 actually did a very good job.. accuracy and penetration were and still are very good. Knowing that the 22 is a smaller caliber it would be advised to give your pray plenty of time to bleed out before you leave your blind or hide .. , so it's the old saying don't catch buck feaver stay put and don't allow your preay to run until they drop the blood trail can be hard to follow with smaller calibers. 20 minutes or more should be plenty of time for your prey to bed down and bleed out..

Love my hornet. I use them effectively on whitetailed deer in the US. With the right load and bullet a body shot within 100 meters is just fine. I shot a 60 kg deer in the heart at 80 meters 2 years ago. Bullet still penetrated to opposite side skin. Of course i take head shots whenever possible. But if need be i am confident up to 100 meters for a heart shot if the animal is perfectly broadside

Ive killed over 40 deer with my hornet and not one has taken a single step. Body shot or neck shot or head shot. Never even had to track a deer let alone not find one. Not very many people on the planet with that track record regardless of caliber. I would never recommend a .22 hornet for someone new to deer hunting or someone that isn't confident in their ability. But it works for me. And it works very well.

I use the hornet to touch off tannerite in small pill bottles at upwards of 75 yards. Makes for a very precise shot and you never hear the gun itself, only the boom. The .17 will also work but need to be considerably closer

243 remington or a suppressed 308. The 243 is minimum calibre many game farms will allow u to hunt with. 308 is extremely versatile

It's at least 1200 feet per second slower. That's a big difference.

Great stuff, i use a .22k Hornet in Australia to shoot feral cats and foxes.
I use the hornet to touch off tannerite in small pill bottles at upwards of 75 yards. Makes for a very precise shot and you never hear the gun itself, only the boom. The .17 will also work but need to be considerably closer
You should take the rifle to a gunsmith and get them to turn it into a k hornet you won’t regret it.
