You guys even gonna continue this, or was 24/7 too much to handle?
Can you upload the other episodes reaction?
In the comics all the endless don’t really look human. They are white but literally white like paper and dream has completely black eyes with stars in them.
But the way he looks depends on who’s looking at him. Same goes for all the endless.
We've also seen Dream as a black man and a giant flaming skull as well.
@@ShadowyFox_86 💙
No, Destruction, Destiny, Delirium and Desire look human. The only white like paper are Dream, Death and maybe Despair
Despair is filthy grey isn't it? Like a swollen obese corpse that was dropped in a sewer for a week.
What a colorful description i just gave...
The endless forms change based on who sees them (i.e., he looks like a cat to cats, for example)
The challenge is an ancient trope called The Oldest Game, or a Wizard's Duel, and you can see a good example of it in Disney's The Sword and the Stone.
No game no life
In the book Chornonzon represented itself and Dream did not even flinch when he said "hope" there was no morale boosting from the Raven, it was a split-second decision. Another significant change was John Dee letting his driver live. That was very sweet, but unfortunately she did not survive in the book. (I actually was relieved that he gave her the amulet and let her go, not going to lie.)
Do you think Gaiman gave her an ending in this series that he wished he gave her in the book?
I feel like having Lucifer be the one to compete against Dream is vastly superior. Just to give Luci a chance to show off
@@agresticumbra I sure hope so because in the series and the book she did nothing wrong and was a very likable character. I'm glad they changed it.
@@agresticumbra Gaiman said he was quite young when he wrote the original story and he’s grown / changed since then and it’s reflected in the rewriting of the ending 👍🏽
They made giving the amulet make alot of sense as well. Why does she lie? She's afraid and feels like I do about lies, so I will make her not have to be afraid.
8:10 Because Dream (like all the other Endless) is seen in the way people perceived them. They don't actually have any defined physical form, sex, gender, social status, age and color. They're merely interpretations and reflections of our own beliefs and biases. Again: A Masterpiece!
The endless are seen as different things by deferent cultures. African see him as the African dream god. The Greeks see him as Greek god Morpheus etc
Fair point. All the endless appear as wait ever their in front of since they have no real age , race , color entities.
This is the same Lucifer from the tv show Lucifer. The Lucifer comic is a spinoff of The Sandman comics. This is more accurate to how Lucifer appears in the comic though. The Llucifer TV show actually makes a joke about that on occasion. )
Not really. This version of lucifer is similar to his first appearance in the sandman comics. But Lucy's design was changed into more male looking type later in the comics
Right, the Endless tend to appear to folks as whatever their archetype/deity that is the equivalent of their purpose. Like the moniker Morpheus, Dream goes by many names, such as Kai'ckul.
I can never remember what Martian Manhunter calls him.
@@ShadowyFox_86 I looked it up, and MM recognized Sandman as Lord L'zoril.
Always glad to see a new Sandman from y'all!
Martian Manhunter from The Justice League sees Dream as a green Martian. We see them as whatever we see them as. Not how they actually look. (Hell, dogs see him as a dog apparently. )
He sees him as a flaming Martian skull not a green Martian
@@YoungYahtz94 He's also one of the only beings Martian Manhunter is afraid of.
This reminds me of galactus he appears as what ever race is looking at him, so just like dream
@@snap_drama346 💙
Glad you all noticed the star on the door in Hell. It isn't the Star of David (which has 6 points). It's a inverted pentagram (which only has 5 points).
Random other detail worth mentioning: The butcher bacterium is referred to more specifically as anthrax.
It hit me while watching this reaction a year later. Every time they chose something in the battle the other person felt it. So when Dream picked "hope", Lucifer actually felt hope. Maybe for the first time in a long time.
Lmao the way Darkseid really be out here searching for the Anti-Life for trillions of years and Lucifer can just casually summon it at will
I mean, there is a moment in the comics where Lucifer basically has a picnic at the Source Wall and wonders why Darkseid is so obsessed with a trifling thing.
@@ShadowyFox_86 💜
"I am Anti-Life" Joe's face on that move... 🤣🤣🤣
Because even Lucifer has hope
Lucifer dropped the Anti-Life on Sandy and blew y'all minds 😆
Suicide Forest has grown since Dream was last here...
Nada is from a short story; if episode 11 is any indication, we may see it, eventually. White people weren't a thing yet, back in Nada's day. In the comic, Martian Manhunter knew Dream as Lord L'Zorhil, appearing as a big black skull wreathed in flame. Dream's appearance seems to depend on the culture observing him. Makes you wonder how the Endless see each other.
Originally, Matthew had not yet been introduced, the duel was with the demon, and Dream switched to defence once he figured out his opponent's strategy. *Every change they made here, made it better.* (Apart from skipping a couple of moves, the duel is identical.) The same goes for the end of the episode: John not shooting the driver dead once he had his ruby was a nice surprise... but yeah, he's still the sickest human in the show.
I love that Martian Manhunter is actually afraid of Dream.
I hope you guys keep doing The Sandman. The next episode is absolutely fucking bonkers!
One of the greatest stories ever told in Comics!
David Thewlis and Sarah Niles are just soooo good as John Dee and Rosemary! Incredible performances!
Hell's landscape is inspired by Dante's Inferno. Things like Hell being cold and the woods of suicides where the trees are people who committed suicide.
If you've ever seen the Disney movie "The Sword and the Stone" there is a similar battle to this one.
Watch the next episode...it's the best of all...this series is so wow .. beautifully done..
Swamp Thing and Sandman are so good series.
John Dee's idea of saving the world is . . . interesting.
10:30 That's not the star of David. That has 6 points. This was a pentagram, which has 5.
Why is there only 4 reactions?
😢 Sandman did get renewed for a second season two they just showed previews of some of the endless 🎉
where is the rest of the reactions fam?
I've been too hot, and I've been too cold, and I can tell your right now that Hell is cold. Of the two, cold is worse than hot.
Dream looks different based on who's looking at him. In the comic the Martian Manhunter saw him as a giant flaming skull called L'zoril, because that's what Martian culture knew him as. Meanwhile, John Constantine and Mr. Miracle were standing right next to him, both of them seeing him as a creepy white dude, which is how we see him.
Nada sees him as a black guy, because living 10,000 years ago in Africa, she wouldn't know what a Caucasian person even looked like, much less heard of one. She only knew him as her culture's "lord of dreams," Kai'ckul. As to their relationship and why she's there, they'll need to get into season 2 to get to that.
But all that brings up an interesting "meta" thing: us watching this show, we see Dream as white-boy Tom Sturridge, because in our mainstream culture, white guys are the norm (especially for people in power). Which is something we should all think about.
But props to them finding the black version of that actor, he nailed being the black Tom Sturridge playing Dream. Shout-out to (checks IMDB) Ernest Kingsley Junior.
I like how Hell is all about dropping bars. Whether getting in, or getting shit done. In this adaptation, each player was *forced* to feel the effects of the other move in the "great game." Which means, Dream made Lucifer feel what hope actually feels like, possibly for the first time in untold eons. That's got to hurt them more than any hurt hurts.
Good catch on how maybe we can't assume Dream is a good guy just because he was imprisoned at the start of the show, and we can't assume John is a bad guy, since he has an plan to make the world a better place. It's all more complicated than that. There are no straight-up "heroes" or "villains" in this story.
The budget for this season was North of $100M; they did it up right. Which is probably why Netflix has yet to greenlight a season 2, even though it did pretty damn well. It didn't quite take over the popular consciousness like Stranger Things or Squid game did. So they're being little bitches about it so far.
*Not really a spoiler, but it does refs a future episode*
The women in the cage is Nada of the first people and they fell in love,
that was him appearing as Kai'ckul, she most likely his first love, which endless aren't suppose fall in love with humans.
He hasn't forgiven her or himself for falling love. They explain more about this in a future episode, "Dollhouse" I think.
Additionally, this is Desire's doing, 10,000 years ago, who tricks Dream into letting his guard down and falling for her at a party of the gods, which starts the animosity between the two of them, who use to be close.
They don't really explain/explore this in the show
So Hopefully, we see this party scene, and more scenes with all the Endless, if there is a season 2
Wth, watched this reaction, was like "omg such a great channel!!!" subbed... then went to see next episode and... did they just stop doing this series for no reason?? -_-....
You have to watch star wars Darth Vader by SWFT. it's the best edit of Vader I've seen.
NADA!!! =´(
Op
First
Y'all crazy as hell if y'all think dude is a good guy LMAO 😂💀. Next episode will be an eyeopener
He's definitely more nuanced than he was in the comics, but he is still a thoroughly disturbed individual.
