The bus driver was doing the right thing, he was being very compliant. He called to ask if that is acceptable before letting him in, this is a correct move, he is working, he has his own protocol to follow, had the Mr De Silva waited for him to clarify, he could have boarded and not be charged. But instead Mr De Silva escalated the problem into a police case.
I hope the SBS Transit will not hold against this bus driver but instead give him an award for being meticulous, courageous with moral character. He is not afraid of trouble and handle with calmness.
