You guys are so amazing So happy you both are safe and had no doubt Steve was going to take great care of his beautiful wife Karen Steve the sailing superhero and his superhero wife can do and survive anything Great couple all around
I'm glad you guys are safe and undamaged. Next time, just send the storm on back out to sea. At 9AM this morning, the eye of the storm passed directly over us here in western South Carolina with wind gusts of up to 50/60 mph. We needed the rain, but not all at one time. This debris clean-up is cutting down on my catfishing time. lol
So glad you are safe as well, Kendallbond. The winds in the eye didn't sound very calm. I believe that the Carolinas and Georgia got the brunt of Helene. Let's hope no more big storms this season. Take care and enjoying your fishing time when you can.
hey folks just got back from checking on my sailboat Isabel in treasure island fl. .. first off.. that place got hit hard.. no amount of prayers could be enough right now for our people here.. that said.. my boat did very well. not a scratch to be found.. im very proud of isabel .. she took a hard hit and even protected her dock slip she floats in.. i caint say that for my neighbors 30 footer sailboat it destroyed the dock , by being strapped to close to it. .. i centered Isabel , four feet away from any structure, and even dropped a hook out front of her , she and the dock did very well. .. how ever.. dont clap yer hands yet .. we still have possibly another just like it... brewing up and heading our way by the weekend... hold fast everyone hold fast...
So happy for you, TheBowen747 and Isabel. Our hearts go out to all those who are suffering from Helene wrath. Mother Nature can be so unkind at times. Keeping our fingers crossed that the storm you referred to doesn't come into land. Stay safe.
Glad you’re safe. We have a friend who lives in Hudson Fla and water came up 4 feet into the house and drowned two cars. She lost everything but she is alive so that’s a good thing.
50 MPH winds are no joke, I am sure you had moments when you were scared, I am sure of that. But I am glad you two have come through unharmed, may need to replace that wind meter. I enjoy watching your videos, and even when you are replacing something Steve. I have come to conclude that that both of you are my friends. I always say how beautiful Karen is, that is true, and you are a lucky man, Steve. The two of you are great people, and the world is upside down, so I know good people when I see them. 49 years ago, we put out to sea in a flat top because of a typhoon near pearl, 40-foot swells had me hugging the rails. Never ever want to be on the water in a little afternoon shower again. Thanks, Richr. You might wonder. We're still refitting Isabella. Hoping to get the AIS installed soon and now we have to fix the wind transducer. Still diagnosing that one. Hoping even more to get out there soon.
47 years of fighting hurricans in deep south florida i just learned that my boat is still floating safely in its slip and i also offered my boat home quarters to the dock owner who i rent from.. his whole place is destroyed. all but the boat dock....one pilon of the dock is starting to wobble a little ...hold fast everyone..... we got another one brewing up heading this way by the weekend....... treasure island police are checking id's only letting people in that live there ... thats how bad it is here.. oh yea.. tree service came today and freed both my hummer and van. just waiting on insurance now..

Hello, JohnHender8032. We have a spring line on the starboard side. On the port side due to the piling placements, we chose not to have a spring line there. Isabella seems quite stable tied like that and we are always watching the dock lines to see if we need additional adjustments.

It's our experience that marinas usually charge less for boats on the hard then in a wet slip. If your refitting a boat, it is usually a bit easier on the hard. We were on the hard for 7 months and it helped us with some of the refitting. If you are living on the boat; it is easier being wet. Hope that helps.
