  • Seven years on after one of the most catastrophic natural and nuclear disasters in history, We return to Fukushima to push past the headlines and tell the untold story of the forgotten victims of the disaster, the survivors who are still waiting to return home. Nearly 100,000 people still live in temporary housing the size of a western bathroom, radiation levels are as high as 3 millisieverts, risk of cancer in infants has increased dramatically, and the only hope for improvement lies within the hands of the government and powerplant owners TEPCO. This documentary ventures into the off-limits exclusion zone to hear exclusive first-hand accounts from survivors and learn how these displaced people - for whom the memory of the disaster has not faded, still wait.

    The group of older generations who volunteered to go and work in the disaster zones so that younger people wouldn't be at risk shows how honorable the Japanese culture and people are. Such a shame the government or TEPCO wont continue to support the evacuees.

    Such a tragic event. I wonder what camera equipment was used to film this at the distance they had to, to capture the visuals for this episode.

      Temp houses in Japan are better than permanent buildings in most other countries.

    We are lucky every single moment. I know that this video alone will never be able to describe the hardship they are going through right now, but if i try to step inside their shoes, i can feel their suffering.

    Great episode! I keep thinking about this from time to time, noone is talking about this anymore though they should... where did the contaminated water go to? What about marine life? Are we eating cancerous fish without knowing it?

    And the criminal TEPCO just gets a slap on their wrist and then a buddy clap on the shoulder from their friends in the government.

    • @ForbiddTV
      @ForbiddTV 5 років тому

      Is that so? And what criminal acts are you talking about? I would think if TEPCO was a criminal organization they would just walk away from the plant and not have to spend the billions needed for the clean-up.

    My mother was flying when this happened. She watched the tsunami wipe everything out from the air. Her flight was in a holding pattern above the reactor as it failed. She was exposed to radiation and is now in stage 4 cancer. I'm how many other airline passengers are experiencing health issues

    It's not over yet. Open air fission reactions are a common occurrence at and near the site.... still in 2019. Massive leaks happen all the time, most go unreported, the reactors are still exposed to open air and are contributing to pollution directly into the atmosphere and biosphere. As per the fish and ocean...... it's probably already too late. Not much you can do there......

    • @ForbiddTV
      @ForbiddTV 5 років тому

      Why do you lie so much? No radiation detectors anywhere in the world agree with your nonsense.

      A shielded Fukushima daiichi monitoring station positioned in a decontaminated area showed 9900 nSv/h a few days ago..... then they quickly took it offline and it now shows 800... just a glitch?
      Matter of fact, the entire NETC website has now been taken offline. Weird, eh?

    • @ForbiddTV
      @ForbiddTV 5 років тому

      Piddle Patrol Shill By those numbers you invented, you obviously have no idea what a nano seivert is. That would be a good thing if they really did shut down NETC since they are biased anti nuke liars, But of course I'm sure you are lying about that too, I'll obliterate their Indianapolis reporting station for you this weekend since you won't take any real readings of your own.

      Open air Fission? Last I checked fission products can't undergo fission because fission has already occurred...

    Once the mews stops reporting, the world stops caring. I'm currently in a house with a toteled roof from 2 years ago. Hail storm hit, made news, roofers took a insurance check, and I was screwed. People just assume.....oh they must be OK now.

    We have not forgotten you! ALL of General Electric should be sold at auction and all proceeds should go to help the evacuees and with the continuing cleanup efforts. The criminals that run our world have technologies so advanced that they could cleanup the meltdowns in a matter of weeks, if they so desired. But then we would ALL know about those technologies, and we can't let THAT happen, now can we?

    I don't fully blame the government because they had no warning to stop the natural disaster but why build a nuclear power plant close to the ocean its just sad that this happened and so many lives have passed

    Nuclear energy creates dead spots all over the world. I know we have lots of investment, but when you put into the equation another disaster like this, there is no way this can be economical. We need investment in energy production that is sustainable and renewable. I will give up some of my comforts so no other sentient being has to deal with this kind of suffering.
