Firelord Sozin Betrays Avatar Roku at the Volcano 🌋 Full Scene | Avatar: The Last Airbender

- "The Avatar and The Fire Lord" is an iconic episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender rooted in the history of the Fire Nation and culminating in the death of Avatar Roku, Aang's predecessor. Roku's death is a shocking betrayal from Sozin and in many ways is the inciting incident for the imbalance across the Four Nations and the Hundred Year War.

I mean when you think about it, Sozins first plan was to most likely help Roku in the beginning. Once he figured out his plans would come through if Roku's dead, that's when he betrayed him. I don't think his first instinct was to betray him at all.
But regardless he still did it proving that he was never pure of heart

Not gonna lie though, that removal-of-heat thing Sozin did was incredibly OP and we never saw any body do that again.
This is what I was thinking. It reminded me of Uncle Iroh redirecting lightning.
Meanwhile Legend of Korra was illogically reusing moves that had already been done. Like they showed Avatar Wan doing the air scooter, which makes no sense because Aang invented it! That's the whole reason he got his tattoos in the first place!

This scene perfectly resembles Sozin's and Roku's little duel in the beginning of the flashback. Roku fell and then Sozin grabbed him, but then Sozin let him fall in the end. The detail in this show is incredible.
Also it shows that the only way that Sozin, could beat Roku is by using something or by having something work in his favour. He used the tree root to beat Roku, and the poisonous gases that weakened Roku. Sozin could never beat Roku in a fair fight.

His dragon could’ve pulled him out 💀
And leave the villagers behind ?
By the time the dragon even reached him, it was too late
@@Diamondr11Blue the villagers already escaped
He would've died anyway. He was old and he was in the toxic fumes and ash for way too long and he was fighting with two volcanos instead of saving his breath. Plus the dragon got there too late.
Sozin: long live the avatar
I like the recurring duality of the red and blue dragons. Iroh and Azula, Sozin and Roku, Ran and Shaw.
Double-crossing your friend... truly a great Fire Lord you were, Sozin.
Also a brave one, given how you launched a sneak attack on the Air Nomads out of fear.
2:55 Rokus Avatar state is so overwhelming
**Still* better.... than KORRA'S ...

Not sure if anyone else noticed, but as roku and his wife get up to leave the headpiece that iroh gave to zuko when he was in prison rolls onto the floor and we see it for a split second.
