I'm 20 minutes in and you've answered so many questions they aren't easily Googleable here. Brilliant explanation, didn't even know you can have multiple files in a folder so it's random. Going to be great on my T2 and WWF Royal Rumble. Thank you, great video!
Great video Cary. My TFTC had the dreaded data East speaker hum. Completely rebuilt the sound card no improvement. Finally broke down and got pin sound. Wow. These boards are incredible in person. Sounds amazing better than factory, and whisper quiet in attract mode.
Great video Carey. Really insightful...thanks for showing how it all works. Very tempted to get one for T2 and Getaway sometime. Movie soundtrack for T2 would be awesome.
You changed my world w this just now. I have a Monopoly I love, but _that_ 4-bar loop is one of the most annoying & relentless loops ever burnt into a ROM. I just went to the site, they support Monopoly, and soon I’ll be able to play it without bashing random targets to stop the loop! HELLS YESSS!!! (Just another reason I joined yer Patreon-awesome tips like THIS ☝️!!) 🤙🤘🤘🤘
Hey Cary, Been wanting to get Pinsound for my T2 so this is awesome info! Now I just have to commit to spending the 4 bills 🤑 You the man! Thanks!!! 😀👍👍
Great insight, great video, love to here what your end user experience was like.. thanks for another great video!I would love to hear your complete mix on LAH just to see what your final mix would be and how it all flows together.. I could see myself getting into using these.. funny you mentioned LW3 because thats the one I have in mind to change!
Good luck getting you pinsound anytime soon, I ordered mine 2 weeks ago, paid for 4-5 day shipping and it came to the states and now is back in France... still waiting
This video is great! One question, there are lots of games on PinSound ,like Space Jam, that don’t have the original files or any files to as a starting point. Is it easy to setup without the original files?
Wow much much easier than I thought this was going to be. I thought I was going to have to be writing python code ect.. what a great product 👍😁 Thanks for the video!
Awesome video! I have a pinsound that I've tried on three or four different machines. Always downloaded custom packages from the pinsound website but every mix I've downloaded I've had issues with volume. The music will be really loud and the sound effects quiet or some sounds loud and some quiet. Would love if you could make a video on how to fix this issue. You touched on reducing decibels but I can't seem to figure out this step of the process
This is where learning the program Audacity that I mention and show comes into play. To lower the volume of a track just highlight the entire track. Then go to the "Effect" tab and then "Amplify". This will give you the ability to lower the volume or increase it to how you see fit. Then export into wav format.
Again, thank you, Cary. I recently obtained a LOTR, simply because I had heard & read so much about the potential of this pin, not to mention fun & strategy. I first read Tolkien’s trilogy when I was 13 (1968!) & was hooked. Back to the pin, one reviewer commented about the soundtrack becoming “almost cinematic” after installing the PinSound system. My initial thought was: okay, add a nice amplifier, some good speakers, & like a base-level car sound system, of course it will sound better. Why would I need a PinSound board? You answered about 5 pages worth of questions in this one video, & I appreciate the fact that you explained everything from formatting the USB to editing music or specific pin actions & sequences. Your attention to detail is sincerely appreciated. Question: Do you have a “Hardy” discount code like you do with Pin Stadium?
nice vid! thx, would love to save money to get pinsound for my getaway HS2... do You have maybe pin2dmd in Your machines ? What do You think on the quality of how it looks and performs ?
I’m about to order a pinsound plus..my question is that I have sega AND williams machines, and I know that the Sega Whitestar setup needs the extra board that comes with thst..IS that little sega board detachable, so that I can throw that into my williams WPC machines? I’m trying to save money and also maximize compatibility on my purchase..any knowledge on this would be awesome! BTW this is the BEST video i have seen yet!!! Thank You man!!
Hey Carl... Im looking at a Gottleib System 3 machine... what kind of mods can i do that arent specific to the theme? It doesnt look like i can do anything with the Dot/DMD? how about sound?
@@CaryHardy You know so much more about pins than I do. I have 2 (1 Being Black Knight 2000). Can the leads and harnesses be adapted to the sound board for my pin? Could it be that simple? Maybe possible but is beyond my understanding of such systems. But man, I love to rework the sound as you have on your Judge Dredd.
@@paulclarke7571 When you order a card the site asks for what machine you will be using. Then they will ship what you will need. If anything else I would contact the guys at pinsound to be sure. They will get back with you.
The board I'm using is a few years old - not sure what type of USB is on the newer models. In the end it depends on the capabilities of the board and USB slot. Wouldn't matter what kind of drive you use - the hardware would be the bottleneck.
CARY HARDY, Pinsound No more reset board, is a current double booster circuit or what to prevent the WPC games to reset when you add more circuit boards it will need more current from the power supply causing the MPU board to reset but the Pinsound No More reset board adds more current to prevent the MPU board from resetting when adding more lamps and other additional circuit boards?
@@waynegram8907 again. its a fix - but it merely covers an existing problem that can be repaired. The board is for those that aren't savvy enough to perform the board repairs.
One quick Q: I have a TSPP & had replaced the speakers w new killer ones that came w a bigass sub. The sound was way too lousy to make use of the speaker quality. If I get this board (& download the original), will it make the ORIGINAL sounds of this TSPP machine a lot clearer w better fidelity, or is the turd just baked into the cake? 🤔 🤷♂️🤟
I think the sound was lousy due to the stock Amp and speakers. With pinsound it can actually push the speakers, and if that isn't the case, you can always change the sound and music to your liking that do have better quality.
When getting the card to work with my LAH game I needed an additional power cable to help power the board due to my power supply. Other than that it worked great. The PinSound team walked me through the issue and gave me the cable I needed too.
Considering buying Pinsound for my Doctor Who. Thought I would take a look. Downloaded the original sound files from the Pinsound site like described in your video and it's a PSPACK file... Whats that? I can't open it. So where do I go from here? Looking at other peoples created sound packs they all seem to use OGG files instead of WAV are both formats equally good or should I create all sound files as WAV like you say? that's when I can get hold of the original sounds to change.
Can someone please let me know if this would work on phantom of the opera pinball machine, its a musical theme pin that i really want to add this board to.. thanks
I'm not seeing the game listed on their website. Try contacting the PinSound brothers via their website and asking them about it's compatibility with that game.
GREAT VIDEO, i GOT PINSOUND FOR MY GNR, ITS AMAZING, BUT IT TAKES LIKE 10-15 MIN TO UPLOAD IT ON THE MACHINE, IT SAYS 10 PERCENT DONE, THEN 2MIN LATER,20 PERCENT AND SO ON, ? IM USING PREMADE MIXES FROM PINSOUND WEBSITE, ANYWAY, COOL VIDEO,WISH MY GAME LOADED THE MUSIC THAT FAST !! TAKE CARE :)
Many thanks..I have quite a few pinsound cards but never created my own mixes. After watching this, you certainly made it look simple. The converter app is Audacity ?
Any kind of naming of files was not done by me. That is how they are spelled from the original download. The only naming I did was when I labeled the mix folder. So, no I did not spell weapon incorrectly. Thanks for watching.
Great video..very informative. But who the hell would take the time to make sounds for a crap game like Lethal Weapon 3? What a waste of time and effort! You can't polish a turd!! :)

Keep the PinSound videos coming. I’d like to see your start to finish flow replacing and editing the sounds.

Can you use pin sound speaker with factory soundboard??
yes, but factory doesn't have the amps to push them to full potential.
Do you think using a faster USB, like a Class5+ will make the card load tracks faster on boot?

The WPC reset boards are only a temporary fix that will need an actual repair down the road.
