Banana Plantation Tour Tenerife (Including Avocado, Mango, Papaya & Citrus Trees) + Tasting
Вставка

- I visited a banana plantation while I was on holiday in Tenerife called "Finca Las Margaritas". There were also a number of other fruit trees including avocados, papaya, mango and citrus. I will also get to try tasting a few different things made from bananas. I'll also show you how they grow bananas in Tenerife as well as showcasing the differences between a "sword sucker" and a "water sucker".

Thats actually far and away the biggest papaya 'tree' I've ever seen , remarkable
Yeah, it was absolutely huge, incredible to see in person 👍
Fantastic tour Peter! Bananas galore 🤩
Thanks, Joe. Yeah, it was amazing, I was in my element haha 😂
Epic video, Peter. Enjoyed that tour.
Very informative too.
Thanks, it was an incredible place to visit, I'd definitely recommend visiting it if you ever end up in Tenerife.
I love the UK but It's so great to get out and see these kind of places. Awesome that you got to go with your dad too. 👍🏽
Yeah, I love travelling to different places, especially places with a warmer climate. I did go away with both my Mum & Dad, but my Mum can't walk too far, so she stayed at the hotel. My Dad said he enjoyed it more than he thought he would 😂
@@PeterEntwistle Yeah, I couldn't justify spending money to go somewhere cold. We get enough of that here for free. 😂
@@MoebiusUK Lol, very true 🤣🤣
Fascinating this Peter. Thank you
Thanks, Mark, it was an incredible place to visit, well worth going if you ever go to Tenerife 👍
Exciting looking tour peter. It is also very interesting to learn about the greenhouse enclosure with the fabric netting.
Thanks, Mike. Yeah, it was an amazing place, I'd definitely recommend a visit if you ever go to Tenerife 👍
@@PeterEntwistle I have holidayed in Tenerife donkeys years ago, but then it was about the amusement areas with our children and driving up to Mount Teide. Definitely another destination for us to go.
@@myexoticfoodplants6727 Yeah, I've done Mount Teide before, another great place to go to on the island.
There are also some really good botanical gardens in the north of the island. I did record a video last time I went, but never got around to editing and uploading it.
Great tour Peter. What an amazing place!
Thanks, G. Yeah, it was an incredible place to visit!
Wow! What a fantastic place to visit!
Thanks, Dani. Yeah, it was an incredible place to visit! I'd definitely recommend it if you ever go to Tenerife!
Really wonderful,presentation. Most interesting. Peter
Thanks, Gordon, it was a really great place to visit, thoroughly enjoyed it 👍
Wow filmed on my birthday 😱😱
Belated happy birthday Brett 🎉
Great tour, thanks Pete
Thanks, it was an incredible place!
Excellent
Thanks! Yeah, it was an incredible place to visit!
I think the brown one you tasted on the toast was banana ketchup 😋
Wow, never heard of that but I googled it and it really does exist. 🤯
I'll be ordering a bottle of the stuff.
Yeah, it might have been, it was quite hot and peppery too. The translation wasn't the best when they were explaining it lol 😂😂
@@PeterEntwistle see the post I just put 😁
Wow, they're growing allsorts there. What was the soil like and how dry was it? It might give us clues as to what we should try in containers.
I didn't go digging around lol, but it was very rich looking, quite sandy too I think. Probably a volcanic soil with lots of minerals in it. I got a lot of orange-coloured particles on my shoes, which I had to clean off after going back to the hotel 😂
Impressive banana 'trees'. It appears that they are under some kind of fabric cover- is it shade cloth?
Yeah, these were covered, It's more like a netting or I guess a bit like a shade cloth, apparently, it's to protect them from wind and help prevent water loss. I can confirm they do get quite a lot of wind on the island 😂. They did also have fields of bananas that weren't covered right next to this one.
I hope that my 'Dwarf' Cavendish does not have to reach the height of these before it will produce a rack of bananas for me! It is around 6 feet, yet no bananas yet. I'd have to make a hole in my ceiling😂I wish I had a 'Super Dwarf' Cavendish- it's supposedly 'dwarfer' than the Dwarf.
Lol, yeah they were pretty big plants... I think they were growing quite a lot of Grand Nain too, which do tend to get a little taller than the standard Dwarf Cavendish (still smaller than the tall Cavendish varieties). I have a Super Dwarf Cavendish and yeah it definitely stays a lot smaller than the Dwarf Cavendish, but they are meant to be very difficult to get to fruit, I think a lot of the time they usually end up "choking" where the flower gets stuck inside and then the plant just withers away.
Le piante più alte sono della varietà gruesa palmera(mutazioni del dwarf cavendish) non gran nain.
La gran nain ha lo pseudofusto più sottile e produce frutti molto più grandi.
Thank you 🙂. Yeah, there are quite a few Cavendish varieties grown in the Canary Islands.
