    Omg!! So cool! I didn't know this is what EE's do. I'm a ME and I just clicked on this video because we need to know what jn junctions do. But we no way go in this much depth.

    Nailed it. It got a bit confusing in between and I had to refer somewhere else to get a grip, but really the closure you gave to this topic is quite brilliant! It’s totally visualisable now, how the current actually flows in this junction. Didn’t expect this the first time I read diodes!

    I tried to read the text books, listened nptel lectures, but still was not able to understand this concept, but after listening to your video I was able to understand it so well, thanks a lot bro for your help.

    How can we assume there be no electric field in neutral regions? We are applying a bias voltage, there should be an electric field throughout the material with the applied bias?

    Sir in previous lecture u said, drift current is independent of applied potential and barrier strength/magnitude. Becos the no of minority carrier near the Junction is independent of that voltages and depends solely on Temperature, as they are generated by Thermal agitation. Please enlighten if I am wrong.

    • @nityanand4581
      @nityanand4581 3 роки тому

      Ohk I got that.
      In RB when Max Id flows- Id increases and becomes
      Independent means saturates or isnt able to follow the Barrier Electric field due to fixed no of minority carrier.
      But the minimum, In case of FB-
      Id reduces Due to reduction in EF or DR width.

    • @nityanand4581
      @nityanand4581 3 роки тому

      In short.
      Id is proportional to Barrier Potential.
      But cannot keep going increasing as the reason are minority which are less.

    Is the law of junction still valid under bias voltage applied?

    • @manohar3929
      @manohar3929 7 років тому +1

      Minho Kim
      Yes it is .. But the Junction voltage changes ... it decreases if the bias is Forwar Bias and it inreases if the bias is Reverse Bias (assuming the bias voltage is directly applied to the junction itself)

    No drift current is considered?????

    • @xiaonanjiang3715
      @xiaonanjiang3715 9 років тому +2

      +Dhiman Bhowmick I think there are three things you should always consider, Jdiff Jdrift and Va. Here Jdiff is 0 if Va is 0 since it is out of depletion region. Then he used the equation with dp/dx considered with Va to calculate its Jdiff. All of them have been considered. That's how I convinced myself at least. Hope it helps.

    • @xiaonanjiang3715
      @xiaonanjiang3715 9 років тому

      +Dhiman Bhowmick wait.....sorry......i shouldn't say Jdiff is 0 if Va is 0....it should be Jdrift =0 no matter what Va is cause the dE/dx=0 in nondepletion region
