It's not sleepwalking, it's night terrors. I have had them for years, seeing the same types of things as you, as well as people. A big contributer is stress. The only two things that seem to stop them are mindfulness plus CBD or cannabis. Antihistamines also work.

Pls don't recommend cannabis for nigh terrors, it can make everything worse if people start to panic (which cannabis can cause) or even increase anxiety/paranoia. Definitely might not be for everyone. And this is coming from someone who uses it regularly for medicinal purposes.

    • @eKoush
      @eKoush 4 роки тому +9

@@SpoilerAlert__ CBD are cannabinoids. it's the psycoactive THC that doesn't help or might worsen night terrors. CBD oil for example might very much help and be far less of an issue than melatonin. In fact no issue at all. It's healthy and has no psychoactive effects.

    • @steph5527

Why does everyone think they are a doctor? Some people have really adverse psychological side effects from cannabis and it definitely doesn't work the same for everyone. It can be helpful, but its not universally true for everyone. Doctors can prescribe actual medication for night terrors and again, it doesn't work the same for everyone.

Sleepwalking is terrifying! I’ve only done it one time! I was 14, at the time...
My family and I were vacationing and we were driving up the coast. We stayed in this little motel and I woke up in the middle of the night in the parking lot with a blanket wrapped around me.
I was pretty far from the room and in the middle of a bunch of cars. I immediately ran back and banged on the door-my dad opened it and said the door was locked and the latch was locked, too.. so how did I get outside and lock myself out like that? It’s a shudder inducing thought. I’m convinced (regardless of everyone saying they didn’t) that someone re-latched it, just by habit maybe.

My brother's childhood friend was a sleepwalker. His dad was a real asshat and really tough on him when it came to grades, football, etc... He was a football coach on their team and just a super strict father. Stress is definitely a connection for a lot of people. The poor boy was under so much stress he was sleepwalking a lot. The family had a pool and one time he actually got out of the house and through the gate and near the pool. Luckily someone woke up and found him before he got into the pool and drowned. It was a real problem for him. Soo scary.

I took a melatonin when I was a teenager on a road trip with my parents and brother. We were at the hotel with two queen beds, my mom and dad in one and my brother and I in the other. The next thing I remember is giant white alligators on the floor. I woke up screaming, and had jumped from our bed over the "alligators" into my parents bed. When I was young I used to sleep walk. I couldn’t tell dreams from reality. They usually would start with me laying in bed trying to sleep. Then I would start having vivid nightmares. So being young and confused. I though I was actually awake. My mom told me a few times I tried to go outside in the middle of the night. I eventually stopped sleepwalking and when I was in HS I started having a lot of sleep paralysis. Thankful now in my 30s. I don’t experience any of that. I do want to say all of this was do to being stressed and tired.

This reminds me of in my teen years when I would punch and yell in my sleep. One night I thought I was fighting someone, and I threw the hardest punch I could in my sleep. It directly connected to my boyfriend's jaw, giving him swelling and redness in that area, and made my boyfriend angry at me until I explained what had happened. I think he slept on the couch for a while until my sleep became more calm.

He started pacing in front of the TV. We were all asking him to move and finally he turns to us and with his eyes still partially closed he just screams, "POOP YOU!" and then he went back to bed. I have this problem, it's always spiders. A large black spider will be slowly descending onto me from the ceiling. It feels completely real and as if I'm awake. I'll also see my room exactly how it is, but it looks like all the windows and doors have been removed. I will jump out of bed because of the spider and go to a solid wall thinking that's where the door should be and not be able to get out. I've clawed at blinds, and on rare occasions ended up outside. It's awful. It's gotten better with time, but in times of stress---oy.

A friend of mine has a sleep walking story.
He went to bed after being at the Fair, he was 14-15. His GF was sleeping with him in his parents house, its the summer btw. He told me he ate a shit ton of fair food and he thinks it contributed to him sleep walking, as well as the fact that he was under severe stress because she skipped her Period.
His dad was still awake, he saw him walk out of the bedroom and walked down the hall to the kitchen where his dad was. His dad was making a midnight snack or whatever, and asked him if he wanted anything, and he just said, "i wont be a bad father." then this is where things get really weird.
My friend just gets down on his knees and is on the floor. His dad thought he was actually on drugs, he asked him whats going on, and he just says, "whered my son go!?" like, screaming. His dad grabs him and shakes him, and he wakes up.
She wasnt pregnant btw lol hes 19 now and his GF is ACTUALLY pregnant and he seems to be handling it well. Apparently thats the only time hes ever slept walked. He told me, from memory, he remembered having a heartfelt talk with his dad in his sleep about his kid, and that he had seen his baby in his dream, other than that he doesn't remember much of anything. Weird shit. I never slept walked in my life personally.

Regarding melatonin, if you buy bigger tablets, you shouldn't take the whole tablet, as that's what makes you groggy.
Take 1/3rd or 1/4th of a tablet instead, as that's a more realistic dosage for people who aren't actual insomniacs, and it still works! Also makes the whole bottle last longer (melatonin is kinda expensive).

I slept walk for awhile when I was around 20 because I was going through something very stressful. My first nightmare happened when I was in 5th grade and I was, absolutely, terrified. I have had nightmares since and now I am just used to it. It is the same as fighting "demons".
I've died a couple of times which was, eerily, very comforting. Sometimes my dog has a double but it isn't him and so I have to stab him but he never goes away. It's just constant stabbing of this thing that doesn't belong in my home that looks like my dog.
I get sleep paralysis when I nap but it feels like it lasts forever because it is like I am in and out of it. I have been having a couple of those at night which used to only happen when I nap and NOW it is like that mixed with freaking nested dreams and false awakenings.
I, also, sometimes do this thing where my arms are in the air and I'm like... Scratching/ tickling them. Either way, I just call all of it nightmares and I don't think anyone really understands how annoying they are now. I wish it would just be like me going to the beach or something.

It was about 2am and I apparently was running to the balcony door where my brother caught me. He asked me what I was doing and I didn’t even look at him. He just walked me back to bed. The next year on the same vacation, we had to share a bed, and 3 separate times during the night, I violently kicked him with both feet over and over. all i know is even if he needed some sort of extra bondage theres no shame, well imo because he didn't choose to have these sleepwalking experiences, hes just there for the fricking ride dude. i tip my beanie to this young man and wish good health and dude its not shameful if you need to alter how you stay secured to your bed at night. people need different shit and all we can do i learn and evolve from it. peace

Bruh, I once punched the wall real hard while sleeping, I've kicked my family members out of bed and I've sometimes woken up screaming or talking. It's like acting out your dreams and it's pretty fucked up. However it hasn't happened in a while now but it's creepy. I'm actually glad to hear someone else talk about this because everytime I tell somebody about it, they can't relate 😂

I had a crazy ex who in his sleep grabbed my head and head butted with full force, then blamed it on being a nightmare, when really he was set off that anyone would text me while we were asleep... Cuz oh gosh, I must be a cheater if I get a random text at night. Ugh, not saying Ian is crazy, his is legit and scary.
