Welcome to Austin Mazzy and crew. I helped set up and create the very first Austin Record Convention way back in the day. Sold there for the first 5 years. Now I just shop. The fact thst its held up all these years and gotten bigger to boot is amazing.
I moved to Charlotte, NC from Everett, WA two years ago. I still have to pay a visit to Noble Records. Mas, Love the fedora, I have one similar. Good video.
Nice to hear you got Beck OG. Very happy I bought his first two major albums Mellow Gold and Odelay when they came out on Bong Load Records back in the day, right before his move to Geffen. Collection treasures!
Mazzy, killer documentation of Austin trip. I was so overwhelmed by how big the convention is. So many records! I would definitely be hanging out in that stoner/doom/sludge bin for sure 👍 lol . I think Dillon was too star struck to talk on camera. Great VC gathering ! I look forward to more videos of the trip. Peace ☮️ Namaste 🙏 the Zonkman
Enjoy the visit, Mazzy. I lived in Austin for 15 years before relocating to DC. Austin is a great city - excellent vibe, very friendly people (in general) and plenty of music. Looking forward to watching your videos!
Mazzy love the video so many cool VC members man very cool and I love that Air B N B you guys were staying at . That Austin Fair looked great the prices were reasonable. That Fair is on my bucket list to visit .
Great video. I need to drive up for the next Convention. Haven't been since the late 90's. Remember when Roky would sit at one of the local's booths and sign LPs. Glad he got it together soon afterward.
Great video.. Love the pranksters. Mazzy love how you always ref Ella in Berlin.. My late Dad's fave. I finally got a few copies but my own gem is a UK mono.. Strange as it is..keep up the Vinyl education.
Your original plan intrigues me. If I were flying all the way to Austin, Texas to a record convention, in my mind I would be purchasing a shit-ton of vinyl to make the journey worthwhile. Glad you found some worthy of your collection. I'm sure I would need Sherpas to aid me in carrying all mine back home.
Wow great show it look like it is. Larger then the ones I used to go to. But did great each time. Always fun when I went to record shows. And seeing the old dealers and people I knew when I went there and seeing them.
Wish I knew you were there. I just drove back to San Antonio from ARC. I picked up the Sugar Cubes debut, Chris Isaak’s debut, some Sade, Winehouse, Police and Throwing Muses. You need to dig to find the deals. Some of the pricing was Discog level, for sure. Hope Austin is treating you well!
Massey. Enjoyed the videos to the Austin Record Fair. Have you ever considered showcasing Bruce Hornsby, chris rea and other artists which you have not touched upon. Really enjoy the blogs. Trevor Marshall, Londonderry, Northern Ireland
Hi Mazzy - lovin the trip to Austin. Your record fairs over there are huge compared to ours in Australia. Lovin it though. You have a great group of friends there -enjoy. Cheers Doug (from Down Under)
wow! it looks like half of the VC showed up in Droves. I wanted to thank you for the Lou Rawls album that came with the other records i received today Mazzy!
Should've picked up that 6 ft Hick record at 12:24 Mazzy, the post it note describing it as garage blues was pretty apt, but back in their prime a killer live act, next level physical commitment!
They've been 'slabbing' comic books for years. People don't complain about that like they do vinyl LPs. Same concept, though. It preserves the integrity of physical product. And I believe that the price of 'slabbing' the vinyl is cheaper than what the CGC charges for comic books, but I'm not sure.
"The first thing I remember knowin'" Would be in the 1968 bin you know that Boss! "The Hag!"! In the early part of your vid was that a Mom's Apple Pie the Original before the Police showed up? Neat that you ran into NC Noble Records! Thank you for the way you film! Very interesting VMG discussion! Thank you Mazzy!
Quick horror story….. I was at the mega record fair in Utrecht , Holland , and there was a dealer selling a rare Thailand copy of a various artists 45/EP that included the Sex Pistols . .Due to the constant humidity in Thailand most of the paper sleeves soon rot away to nothing and it didn’t sell that many anyway when it was released , consequently this particular 45 comes with a hefty asking price. The dealer had a xeroxed copy of it up on the display wall letting you know he had it for sale at €800 , so get chatting to him about it and where he had found it etc and he offered to let me see it , I did tell him that at €800 it was well out of my league for me to buy , but yes , it would be nice to see and hold it. He went to the back of his store front and picked up a 45 carry case which was extremely full of his rarer 45’s that he had bought to the fair. This case was so full you couldn’t have slipped a credit card into it , it was chockablock, anyway he dug it out and gave it to me to look at for a few minutes to admire and chat with him about it , then he took it back from me and still idly chatting away to me proceeded to try and put it back into the bulging 45 case , putting downward pressure on it to make it go back into the case when there was a god almighty “crack” sound as his precious €800 record snapped completely in half …….. After a few seconds of awkwardness between us I made my excuses and exited stage-left to leave him to beat himself up over his stupid clumsiness……poor man.
I can't believe you passed on that "Anyone Can Yodel" instructional record. You're gonna regret that someday when you're lost in the Cascades and need to communicate over to another ridge line.
Yes there were some tables with 12” dj singles of various genres. Pretty much everything represented. My interests are rock, soul, jazz, folk, country & world.
@@mazzysmusic appreciate the reply! My collection is ~90% house, trance, techno DJ issues. The rest is “other”. While we may not agree on music tastes, no worries there, we agree on the magic of vinyl. FWIW, I’m in the Seattle area too and have loved your content Mazzy!
"We didn't start the fire" - - & that's true. Some freebies were gifted, & declared, & next thing they're burning Beatles records in Texas. But it's nice to see some VC people actually getting along. Never thought I'd see the day. Heartwarming. Records are an excuse for bonding & remembering, as you know. Some o those artifacts are actually people. It's the bonding, stoopid. But I didn't see anyone buying books. Surely, between Jose & *the Norman Maslov Public Library* somebody bought a book. Just raise the bar a bit would you? be a cut above.
Does the VC know that Nightfall of Diamonds has been out since the early 2000s on CD and is a famous 1989 show. What makes it bad, b/c it's from 1989? The Dead will release everything eventually and ya'll are still buying😂 And, no Deadhead would consider a single show release a box set😂

Mazzy and Noble...my 2 fave vinyl community guys!!
I moved to Charlotte, NC from Everett, WA two years ago. I still have to pay a visit to Noble Records. Mas, Love the fedora, I have one similar. Good video.
Happy to see people collecting, thank you. Peace & Love

Awesome to see Billy and Jose made it to the show.
Great video, it's a joy looking at old beat-up albums; stuff I had when I was 10, love your channel, Mazzy.

I was in Charlotte last weekend. Stopped by Noble Records. Great shop! Stellar inventory
Awesome meet up.. thanks for videoing it Mazzy! And keep’em coming! Keep digging too

I lived also in Texas, I attended Texas State University in San Marcos, net door to Austin.
The VMG "slab" business is from my town. It's an option if it's something you want to preserve. I don't hate the idea.

Fun video Mazzy , always enjoy your trips and the people that you meet up with !
It looks like fun. It's great to seeing all the VC members in one place 😊
I see that Noble Records is represented! I never saw anyone more happy to be somewhere than Dillon at the Austin Record Convention!
Wow great show it look like it is. Larger then the ones I used to go to. But did great each time. Always fun when I went to record shows. And seeing the old dealers and people I knew when I went there and seeing them.
Love the idea of organizing by year, so cool! What a great time! Thanks for filming, it was like a high school reunion😁 did you meet Record Safari?!
I love your Spanish!!! 👏🏻👌🏻
Un abrazo!
I'm here for the vinyl but I wanna stay in this place on my first trip to Austin!!!
You should really find that Linda Perhacs album - it is FANTASTIC.
Hey Mazzy, what a dream trip that would be for me, I can't wait to see everything you see. Thank you for taking us along.

I love Rea but only have a couple of CDs. Dont have any Bruce Hornsby 🤷🏻♂️
The ARC is Awesome , bought 1000 records back in 2015 , the best Record fair in the states .
Great day 1. I’m looking forward to my record shopping in Alaska and Canada. Have fun. 🤩
I need an original of The Information from Beck. Maybe my favorite of his.
Great fun Mazzy! Thanks for taking us to the convention.

Yes it was a fun week end. This is the largest in the US
Mazzy picked up "Ella in Berlin" last week at the Library monthly book sale. NM vinyl & cover $1! Japan pressing.
I partied on 6th street when I was in the Army at Ft. Hood. 85-86.
Thanks for having us tag along Mazzy! Great video!

Mazzy, i love your low key disses to the VMG guys! I deplore slabbing. They absolutely are a mausoleum for your LPs.
When I lived there, I would easily blow several hundred dollars every year. So many records it was a sensory overload!!
Happy to see you all, thanks for taking me along.
Our pleasure!
Now THAT'S a record fair!
Austin Record Convention never disappoints!
This video had given me FOMO!!! Big time!! Great to see everyone together!! Nice Air B-N-B!! Enjoy!!!!

WFMU just seems to have broken the ice for gathering at record conventions. Thanks, Chris

Wow that looks nice record fair. Going through that place would take some time.
Would be interesting to shop bins that are arranged by decade/yr especially for collectors who have been at it for decades.
Thanks for the footage.
nice..community and conversation..that's what it's all about..
stay well my friend..
peace always..rocky
Always!
Thanks for sharing Mazzy! 🎧
definitely great fun,, been cool to meet some of you, guys!
Are you there, Dave?!!
@@djvinylvertigo no im not there, i meant it would have been cool
Ella In Berlin is sensational, any Ella actually.. Nancy Wilson, Dinah, Sarah, Billie, Chris Conner, all great !
*Total pro and extra cool dude Alex from Record Safari seen...and why was Beardo from Noble so strange with you?!*
Dillion was great. I just surprised him.
"We want the hobby to grow."
"Cool. I just bought a Crosley."
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
Now I want a watership down T-shirt.
The one year I don’t attend you guys show up 😖
THANK YOU…! ! EXCELLENT WORK …! ! !
Good to see you boys were able to find time for record shopping between all the eating ....😄
Very fun, thanks Mazzy. Best idea of show: organizing by year. Dumbest idea: slabbing.
The official documentarian of the Vinyl Community™️ knocks it out of park again. ⚾️ Cue the haters in 3, 2, 1….
It's a small world for US record collectors, the same people keep bumping into each other.
Eddie the legend 🎉
thanks mazzy.. nice to see some of the walls.. i hate the slabs.. hate them!!

Yikes 😵💫
20:30 mark isn't that the fellow from Record Safari?
Yes
I take it back. I LOVE Wax.
I can't believe you passed on that "Anyone Can Yodel" instructional record. You're gonna regret that someday when you're lost in the Cascades and need to communicate over to another ridge line.
I already regret it
Nice video @Mazzy ! Keep it up 👍
that was awesome!
Lesson learned for me. Go on the first day. There appeared to be far better records on the wall for sure!
Watch Dillion’s video. He chats a bit about that.
Finally - someone who doesn't get free jazz - tried it many times but just couldn't get the hang of it - I love Ella though.
We love Ella ✌🏼
I guess the Greater Fool theory also applies to records. They're not vinyl! They're records!
While I know you’re mostly interested in Rock and Jazz, it would be nice to see what other genres are there at the show. For example, any DJ singles?

People don't talk about how great Bessie Smith was. I just p/u a big cache of her records NM for a $1 a pop. She's almost rocknroll.
That’s looks like serious eating at that barbecue joint !
By year? An interesting approach.
I’m guessing it’s original year of release not pressing year.
That giraffe was the only worthwhile thing about this video (j/k!) Cheers!
Are there any steals and deals there? Or is everything jacked up?
Ned Ryerson @8.51 😂😂
I’ve got a sinking feeling that wrestling with Louie is not going to happen this year. ☹️
🙏🙏
Ella Fitzgerald 👍
Guys, those prices look a little off the hook.
You better get your LBJ on if you're goin down to Texas.
This was fun
Fun
I got that Richard Betts in NM for a $1.
14:34 Metal Jesus??
Why is there a cube with no records in it?
Nightfall of diamonds isn't a boxset
Collectors - don't fall for that graded record bullshit. It's really f--ked up the comic and sport card industry. A record is MEANT to be played.....
Mazzy, what time did you get to Blacks?
Friday night 8:30 pm. Saturday lunch 11:30.
Welcome to Texas Mazzy and the VC gang🎷🎸😎we’ll fatten ya up and put hair on your chest down here.
Lookin good👍🏻
Records always sound better if you ultrasonically clean them before re-shrink wrapping them.
6:47
There's nothing audiophile about punk. Oh, but it plays so quiet!
Does the VC know that Nightfall of Diamonds has been out since the early 2000s on CD and is a famous 1989 show. What makes it bad, b/c it's from 1989? The Dead will release everything eventually and ya'll are still buying😂
And, no Deadhead would consider a single show release a box set😂
Are records the new bitcoin?
You are totally correct. The only difference is that you can hold and play records (which makes me value them more than crypto).
Great video Mazzy!
