I'm a middle aged Latin dude that grew up in the inner city of New York City. I was a hip hop DJ for a short while and made house music in my home studio. This is one of my favorite songs of all time. Good music is universal. When I have my headphones in and it comes on, it's gonna get replayed about 6 times before I let the next song kick on.
I’ve never heard of him before but his guitar playing and melody on this track was fantastic. And Shawn Colvin’s unique folksy voice was the icing on the cake. I still remember when she was first starting out and she did a duet with Bruce Hornsby on his beautiful 1990 ballad “Lost Soul”. Definitely worth checking out.
Though I was 9 then 10 my mind emagined a hi school girl to this song. Voice and all. Ahim but for collor cause I'm blind. Behold in 2002 I met Erron O'dell of newTown Hi and she was all my mind had emagined to this song. Dam if only my brain had told me I'd tell her on the spot.

I'm a middle aged Af-Am R&B head. Saw her singing this on the Grammys in the '90s, replayed the taped segment several times then bought the album.
Beautiful song. I'd like to hear Shawn Colvin's original lyric version to hear the song's progression.

A well crafted song
Amazing song and the arrangement as well as John’s impeccably soulful playing remains one of my all time favorite records.
Love it! Great song.

This man is a healer.
Was an excellent performance they gave on the David Letterman show, 1997!
Amazing tune! Incredible watching it played….. ❤
Tasty…
John is amazing, thank you for this. Question: which orange Gretsch is that? ❤️
Looks to be a late 50's 6120 with filtertrons, just like Brian Setzers.
