I’m super-jealous of this trip and enjoying watching it very much. Somehow, either through comments or whatever, can you compare this bike with your Trek 520. Comfort, reliability, and just the ability to put miles on day after day on pavement, gravel, dirt, etc.
The Trek 520 is 30 lbs and slow. Its like driving a tractor. The Specialized Epic is 18.5 lbs with a carbon fiber frame. Its more like driving a '75 Nova with a Super Sport engine. Im able to go much further much faster. Hard to imagine ever riding it again. Ive put 2000 miles on The Epic so far and was ale to hit a personal best of 250.7 miles in one day. The Epic is here to stay. Looking into making The Epic as lite as can be, and going to enter some long distance races next year. Im done with Steel for a while.
McLove'n it bro. No plans, just rollin. Team Specialized here too this year. Rockhopper though, with some mods. Sold the Surly to make it happen, and never looking back.
@TravelingThru222 do you know of a free map app that uses better roads than Google maps, a lot of the time if I map a trip it likes to put you on roads I would not try going on.
Im guessing you met Tim at Little City cycles did he hook you up with a hex? Just completed the King alfred way here in UK. Was a crazy adventure single track and unpaved paths. Much love Brother!
Nice! I love it when that happens and the universe supplies the skills to fix repairs like that its a great sense of achievement and empowerment. Lets get this!@@TravelingThru222
The surly is 30lbs and super slow, The Epic is 18.5lbs and super fast. I e been able to ride faster and much further on the carbon Epic, probably won’t be riding the surly for a while.
How’s the Epic working out for you? I had one thinking the light weight would be good but exchanged it for a Norco Search steel. Can’t really say which one is better yet. Hopefully you are enjoying your trip
Loving the carbon frame Epic, riding much faster and going further than ever before. Rode 250 miles on it last Saturday. Hope your steely is working out.
Working hard on the training, hitting the gym every morning and squeezing in long rides when I can. I’ve been riding 200 mile days on the weekends, personal best so far being 250.7 miles. On my way.
Brings back memories from riding that area nearly 20 years ago now... thanks, and be safe!
Glad you enjoyed it
I was in Vermont once, several years ago. Just a beautiful state.
Hope you get back up there soon.
👍🏻to the mellow outro music
Cool, thanks for watching.

RIDE SAFE ALWAYS & ENJOY THE RIDE
Thanks.
Glad you got thru Burlington. Seems to get busier and busier here. Rural roads are the way to go. Take care, Al
Love riding in VT, looking forward to heading back up soon.
Another excellent video! Roll on
Thanks again!

Specialized is one sweet ride.
Great vid. Lots of mosquitoes, get a bivy. They pack down to nothing and they weigh less than a pound. I hate bugs.
Bicycle is on the list. Check.
@@TravelingThru222 ?
oops, Bivy is on the list. Damn auto correct.@@philiporourke7896
Truly hope too meet you on the road someday, so I can ask some important tips and tricks you might of picked up on your trips.
Definetly, let’s meet up for a ride. Feel free to ask any questions.

I ended up finding the hex, and fixing the flat myself. Sounds like you had a great ride. Catch you on the road.

Any beavers slappin around??
Didn’t see any.
Very cool trip. How would you compare, both positive and negative, the Epic and the Surly?
The surly is 30lbs and super slow, The Epic is 18.5lbs and super fast. I e been able to ride faster and much further on the carbon Epic, probably won’t be riding the surly for a while.
@@TravelingThru222 excellent decision. Thanks for sharing your insight.
I am still on QR hubs. Do you (or anybody in the comments) notice any benefit riding on thru axles?
Thru axles are a more secure option than quick release under load, and a bit more ridged. No chance of a wheel slipping out.

250 in one day? That’s freaking awesome! Your killing it!
23 hrs and 40 minutes. Get some. Video coming soon.@@cycleish
Can’t wait for the video!
Which bike did you have?
That would be the 2020 Specialized Epic Hardtail. Carbon frame, 18.5 lbs.
How’s the FKT coming along?
Working hard on the training, hitting the gym every morning and squeezing in long rides when I can. I’ve been riding 200 mile days on the weekends, personal best so far being 250.7 miles. On my way.
