I honestly NEVER EVER had any one explain this to me. Thank you! You have unlocked a whole new level for me. Gosh my coworkers are going to be amazed. I will slow stir and slow stir and slow stir and slow stir until I start waving hello this way. 😊
I'm getting so frustrated watching these videos. Everyone is describing in detail how to stir (push, pull, etc.) but NO ONE is saying if you're supposed to be twirling the spoon so the back of the spoon stays alongside the glass as you stir. Any help people?
From my experience, the reason you push/pull the spoon is so the back of the spoon is forced against the walls of the glass. This will automatically rotate the spoon as long as you aren't gripping on the spoon too hard.
Well I'm no professional stirrer but the gentleman in this video doesn't seem to be twirling the spoon at all. When he pulls forward the front of the spoon is against the glass and the back of the spoon is against the ice. When he pushes back you can clearly still see the rounded, back end of the spoon pushing against the glass with the front of the spoon facing towards the ice in the glass and his chest. The same position it was in when he started. I didn't percieve any twirling of the spoon during the demonstration nor did he mention it, which I feel he would have if indeed it was something pertinent to the technique.

You've explained it better than anyone else I've seen. Thank you for this.
Thank you, stirring was a big weakness of mine before I checked this out. I'm sharing this with all my fellow bartenders!

That should be ALL the time you need to learn how to "stir a cocktail," and you DO! :)
Nice explanation. Could u please tell me the size of your mixing glass ? I hesitate between 50cl and 70 cl. Thanks
Loved that part: "... so you will be better than me".
Thank you!
Nice work! One thing - You are not using a twisted spoon nor did you mention the advantages or disadvantages.
What a likeable guy. Thanks for the lesson!
