Thanks for checking out the mod again! 5.0 was in development for 2 years (!). That was tough, and sometimes really frustrating. But you cant even imagine how satisfied I am with the result. 5.0 is so above anything we released before! Cant wait to unleash this beast to the public! Final preparations are being made!
P.S. You mentioned hub location messing up the story pace. Yep, I know what you meant. And I want to clear this thing up - this hub location is 100% optional. You can disable it in the very same menu you showed on the video by switching "Story Progression" switch and get back to good ol "Cutscenes only" pacing.

@@gambaownsus Hey. I bought it recently. And it works suprisingly well! Steam direct input (or whatever this thing called) emulates gamepad really well! I went through a few chapters without any issues! Just make sure that original rtcw is instslled on deck too!

With the upcoming PCVR release of TeamBeef's Return to Castle Wolfenstein's compatability with this... I'm supremely looking forward to this experience more than almost any other this year. Since childhood, I have loved this game for its series of events and gloomy atmosphere, which is perfectly emphasized by the music of Bill Brown. Masterpiece

RTCW was a big part of my childhood too.
RtCW is really one of the best games of all time. And it was made by the same people that made Redneck Rampage of all things. To see Modders giving it such love warms my shrivelled old heart.
Tbh Redneck Rampage isn't nearly as bad as it's popularly believed to be. Most, or arguably all, of the significant problems it has are technical issues, which isn't surprising because the Build Engine is a very difficult and somewhat unpredictable beast to wrangle with and the development tools of that time were very primitive compared to the easy to use tools we have today. If you load RR up in Raze, the Build Engine source port that's built around the same framework as GZDoom by the same team of people, there are a lot of fixes, QoL options, and just general improvements to the technical parts of the game, and imo it becomes downright enjoyable. I'm not saying it ever was or ever will be a classic on the same level as the Build Engine Holy Trinity, but with some fixes to the tech stuff and a little QoL the aspects of the game that were always genuinely good have so much more room to shine than in the original DOS version or in source ports that are perfectly accurate to the original, bugs, jank, and all.

I think the biggest problem with the game that modders didn't change is the weapon's impact on the enemies .It doesn't induce the impact power of the gun.

I remember this game when it first came out. This game was amazingly good. I’m 53 so I remember alot of games since the 70’s. But this game is what started me to be a proper gamer with really great atmosphere and amazing graphics. It’s great it’s having mods. My dream is only I could have this game remade with new modern graphics keep the game the same but new graphics. I remember being scared of the haunting music 🎵
Return to Castle Wolfenstein is one of my favorite games of all time. Shame that the series has taken a nose dive ever since.

This almost reminds me of how Stalker anomaly is currently but for RTCW which is VERY much a good thing

Seeing the classic goofy animations completely reanimated from the ground up with better models feels so uncanny yet also impressive as heck.
Kudos to RealRTCW devs for working hard on this, they deserve all the support they are getting.

What I've just learned from this video? Well, we had that kind of mods for Doom (Brutal) and Half-Life (MMod), now it's Wolf's time. Good thing you introduced this one to me, I'm looking forward to play it sometime soon.

I last played RTCW 7 years ago, and still remember every scene, weapon and enemy shown here, I will definitely try this mod!
I finished vanilla game so many times, it became impossible to play again because I memorize every enemy placement nook and cranny. Now with help of this mod I can play with excitement again. Good work guys.
RTCW is one of the best FPS games ever made, even to this day. Worth replaying every single year IMO. Even the vanilla on an old Athlon Duron retro rig.
The one thing I want to be added to RTCW is proper leaning, allowing to fire when doing so. Does this mod have that?
No, and I think leaning in this game is intented to be used just for looking behind a corner anyway.
@@jouklik that's a shame, since the mod adds an optional "realistic movement" mode. I'm wondering if it's because the AI simply doesn't detect leaning players? Would essentially be cheating to allow players to take shots at enemies without being detected. Not sure if the dev can maybe turn that off or add a delayed detection time (based on proximity to enemy).

I had countless hours playing the multiplayer when this game came out.
The class based system was one of the best. Each one had it's own particular niche contributing to map control, forcing teams to really play together and not go frag farming.
I can still hear calls of "I need an engineer!"
I loved the single player almost as much.

I watched the weapons showcase video for this version of the mod and it's just incredible how far they've improved. They turned this decent gameplay mod for RTCW into a genuine overhaul in every way shape and form and it breathes such new life into this classic just as much as Black Mesa did to Half Life. @WolfPlayer0 thank you and your team for this, i'm truly grateful for your work in modernizing one of my favorite FPS games of all time

I can't wait to play it, just started downloading a few minutes ago, and the thing I'm the most excited about is the Forest Compound mission.
I appreciate the work put into Real RTCW, but I just can't enjoy the game anymore without the console only Egypt episode, and extra secrets and areas from the PS2. It's like something's missing.
Yeah man I played both the ps2 and Xbox version. I played the earlier versions of this mod but they just don’t that THING that makes the console versions feel different.
The Egypt missions for PC are being made, but they still aren't finished, however big progress has been made since the beginning of the transformation from Xbox to PC.

What i want to say is: Capcom made the best Resi games out of the old ones and it would be so cool to get the same "treatment" with RTCW!

It would be cool if this was used for a _"mirror mode"_ of sorts. You'd start the game as an axis/german soldier, fighting off Americans/brits and their experiments with the occult (basically, a model skin swap with changes weapons). This would cool as a way to have access to a larger arsenal of American/brit weaponry (in the enemies' loot), while barely scrapping by with German Weapons -- basically the opposite of what happens with the main campaign
(heck to make things more interesting, the layouts of the levels could be all mirrored, all flags replaced with Allied equivalents etc. Stuff like this would do A LOT to add up to the game's longevity)

when i saw that the weapons got new animations that caught my interest but when i heard that the dificulty is NO LONGER higher than vanilla AND customizable i was sold 5.0 version is the goat now.
Also, if you are looking for a very good WW2 shooter, then I would highly recommend "Zombie Army Trilogy" which is a 3rd person shooter set in WW2 which has zombies. It began for PC as "Nazi Zombie Army" and was only about 6-hours long, but it ended on a cliffhanger. It was so successful that they made a Part two. It was successful, but when making a Part 3, they just repackaged it as a trilogy and shortened the name to "Zombie Army Trilogy." Together, it makes for a very long campaign, but you can tell its a compilation of games due to the first 3rd re-using same enemies but new enemies are added 2/3 way in & more on the final 3rd. It has a similar feel as Return to Castle Wolfenstein, but with elements of "Left 4 Dead". And its X-ray kill cam (when using sniper rifles) is amazing & adds a ferocious sense of pleasure. ZAT is available for PS4, XB One & PC and they've since released a Part 4. Rumor is they are working on a Part 5. Its a hidden gem, imho.
WWII-Zombies YAY? Sry' TO OLD!
The only thing I wasn’t a fan on was that they kinda limited the gun selection through the campaign. I did not see a m1 garand once or the mosin. They need to patch it where these are more readily available. Also put back the mg42 and stg44 earlier on they changed them to later levels. Fix that and add the Egypt map and this will be the ultimate experience. Also it would be nice if they could add the Xbox intro leading to the castle and main menu that was awesome
I remember having issues with RtCW on Win7 for some reasons - no patch or source port worked. What did work was installing RealRTCW and then turning it into vanilla with addon. Weird workaround but whatever...

How do I actually find the secret area and treasure in that Malta level?
Honestly I am not a fan of the new weapon sounds as they sound flat to me compared to the original sounds, for example at 8:50...also the sniper is less echoing at 6:50...also reload animations are too quick like in a modern FPS.
Does this include the levels from the Xbox Tides Of War version?
I completed the level, but there is no Malta base:(

Played the current version a while back for my first full playthrough, did get through most of the original but never finished it, enjoyed it all minus the Lopers because their lightning arced way too well.
I am gonna nitpick the fact that the entire stripper clip is inserted in some reloads but damn they look nice amd this update looks like a substantial step from the version I played.

No chance. They have zero skill in terms of this type of game. They almost destroyed System Shock, it took ten thousand negative comments on kickstarter for them to put the entire project on hiatus and start again from scratch.
I played this game a long time ago and it got some of the best outdoor ambiance. The biggest problem with this game is the aztec warriors, the undead, and the ghosts. Alright it's been a while so I might not remember it correctly but you can see it in this video; the undead from Quake does not belong in Wolfenstein.
Other than that all the "normal" stuff is awesome.
I think I'm gonna buy the game and get the mod, been wanting to re-play it anyway.

Looks awesome. The only thing I don't like is the sound of MG 42, that has to be the worst sound I've ever heard.
Unfortunately the mod is banned in Germany because showing swastikas is prohibited.

I love this mod, but I have to say, without Vanilla Pack, the weapons look and feel kinda like shit, so you should definitely playu with those enabled.
Those AI upscaled textures look like utter shit.

This mod really needs the console prologue levels, its weird why no one hasnt recreated those levels yet. Also The new had is kinda bad, too simplistic cant tell how much health you have or how much recoil there is.

Don't care for the addition of the Hub Area. Wish we got the Egypt Prologue levels from the original Xbox port instead.
Still can't believe great games like Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Aliens Vs Predator 2 don't get remastered for both current consoles and pc. I prefer FPS games from the 2000s and early 2010s than all the 1990s styled FPS games flooding the market thanks to indie FPS games.
Egypt levels are being remade from scratch. Its a tough one. We’ll get there one day.
In the case of AvP2, it's sadly not available on Steam, GOG, and other platforms due to rights issues between Fox Interactive and Monolith. It's the same thing with the NOLF games. Night Dive Studios tried to release the games remastered, but apparently, no is sure who owns the rights.

You talk about new stuff but with no specific info about it. You talk 10 minutes about things that could be told in just 3 or less minutes.
