bloodtinge builds are my favorites in bloodborne, but they take until youre already halfway through the game to actually come online, since the evelyn and reiterpalasch are both found in cainhurst, and the chikage can only be gotten from beating logarius. that said, you could probably just get a Lost chikage from the chalice dungeons and be fine. similarly, the bowblade is available fairly early but you have to do a good majority of the dlc before you can actually get your hands on the bloodletter.
16:58 I love iai-techniques, but the unfortunate truth is, that they will always be relatively slow and weak. You have to pull straight before you can swing the tip with only one hand. So you neither get a full swing, gravity isn't helping your speed, and you can't get a strong cutting arc. That said, it is a good thing to combine drawing your weapon with an attack, if you get surprised. And you can trip up a more inexpirienced swordsman, when they can't judge your range without seeing your blade
Don't you accumulate mor force by pressing the blade against the sheathe while drawing? Kinda like holding back your index-finger with your thumb while snipping?
Upvote from me. Iai-techniques were mostly used as an opening “surprise” move against the unarmored opponent. The cut is fairly weak, easy to block, you cannot easily change direction and such a cut can be countered with the most daring and dreadful technique: one step back. But if successful, the attack can result in some nasty cuts of hands, face, or torso which can basically put the enemy out of the fight-the stories about enduring pain after being cut are mostly exaggerated, so even a small wound could throw your enemy off balance. Iai is pretty cool, but the speed of a draw and power of cut can be overestimated. With a very sharp sword, it could be devastating, but also a thick clothing could easily absorb the cut and leave you opened for riposte. But it looks so freaking good. I always started the kata showcase with some Iai-techniques.
I'm certain the typical iai strike consists of 2 stages, much like kendo/justsu; first is when you draw your katana from the saya. Instead of attacking your opponent, you deflect their initial attack by slapping their blade to the side (In kendo/jitsu, your first move is almost always a distraction) so as to avoid a "draw". No sense in you bleeding out at the same time as your enemy. The second stage was your follow up in cutting down (or thrusting into) your opponent aka your true attack. That single horizontal cut from the draw is just anime showoff.

Thanks, the idea was basically a ninja but because of only 2 rings because DS1, I used sorceries like Hush or Fall Control etc. Went a lot better than a planned Estoc Crossbow build.
@@DoomWolfOfficial The damage per hit makes small openings feel a lot better - if you have time to get off a great/ultra/colossal weapon swing during the once per year opening the latter enemies of DS3 and most of ER give you, that hit feels better than 1-2 hits with a dex weapon. Plus the quality of life that poising through attacks or interrupting enemy attacks gives you - DS2 has a few pancaking weapons, DS3 has hyperarmor and staggering, ER colossals will stance break a lot of trash enemies in a single hit, etc. I really disliked 'I stab you 4 times and you ignore it and disembowel me' about ds3/ER with light weapons. I may be misremembering but to actually do damage to Gwyndolin with the black bow you have to have equipped the Hawk ring and it should be done from the pillar that's right before its trigger point, I think is like the 3rd pillar from the point he TPs. I'll come back after testing.
I...okay I wouldn't be surprised if you needed to be on the right side and not the left, sounds about right for this game lmao but I did have the hawk ring (and...probably remembered to put it on?) so, I had half what you said lol
Just came back from testing, and yes you can hit him with feathered arrows for 50 damage (65 if it's a headshot) with a +15 black bow, + Hawk Ring. If you want to expedite the process you can deal up to 143 damage when combining PW and RTSR with this setup with a headshot, although more testing might be needed. In conclusion, the reason why the weapon dealt no damage is the exact same reason why most weapons dealt little damage in this playthrough, that being the fact that it wasn't upgraded at all. In order to do the most damage you have to stand on the 3rd pillar from the entrance, right before its trigger point. PS: In my testing, I had 40 DEX and 27 STR meaning I reached the softcap for both types of scaling, but the difference in AR between the soft-cap and base is like 7 points for STR, which makes it pretty much insignificant although it may reduce your actual damage by 1 point or so.
@@DoomWolfOfficial I checked the footage and you had the ring equipped. The reason why it didn't work was that you weren't close enough and the weapon was unupgraded, nothing to do with the right or left side, though if you are in the middle of the 2 pillars that means the arrow will have to travel less which might change your output a little bit. Below is a table with the damages i pulled off with both +10 & + 15 to both the head and body with 40 DEX and 12 STR. Regular: Body(34/44) Head(41/62) RTSR: Body(63/88) Head(82/107) PW: Body(44/62) Head(57/81) Hypermode: Body(88/95) Head(115/124) Your Mileage may vary depending on how close you get to the boss as well as you stats PS: I will never stop raving about this, but in hypermode with the composite bow at 40 dex if you hit Manus in the head you can destroy him in 6 hits while staggering him, meaning he won't even have the chance to do anything. The best part is that he always starts by roaring and rushing you so you have a bit of time to line up the shot. Honestly one of the easiest and most fun Manus fights I ever had. A lot of Media representation of Katanas are based in Iaido, with the actual technique being referred to as "Iaijutsu." though technically the term was originally referred to as Battojutsu, no one is quite sure when or why the change took place.
Could be wrong but from what I have found the difference is more from the use; battojitsu doesn't break down drawing into striking instead teaching it as one motion, and has a heavy focus on distance control. It is also more meant as a combat art rather than a sport/artform. Thus it would be more similar to kendo vs kenjutsu since one was less practical in times of peace to practice.
Don't know how well known the polearm running attack is, just that I do. Found it in the little pool of water in the Depths, with my favorite weapon, Lucerne. The thunk sound is just happiness. So you take back what you said about Lu, blasphemer!

About the intro: i would wish you that your Bad of Chaos would regrove it's roots every time you exite boss fight and is consumable immune, but i wouldn't wish it not even to my worst enemy.
I think the instant attack of the scythe is due to the fact that the normal one is tied to a force vector (example bc my explanation kinda sucks: if you press the button, it sends a vector before starting the attack), but when you're on high water, the friction between the floor and you is incremented, giving out that you need a bigger force to do the run attack. If anyone has better data, please correct me. Im not so used to working with havok physics
Perhaps! I don't know the Havok engine, but I mean it stands to reason that if the animation itself is tied to some calculation, then an added variable could mess it up!
I actually haven't seen this show yet (had to look up where the reference was from lol), as far as this run, everyone but Pricilla was guilty of something ;) lol

this is genuinely the first time ive ever known that the enchanted falchion turns into a magic falchion and then into a weapon i didnt even know existed
So to do the Iato thing, you sheath the sword, then swing it while pulling it out the sheath. Legit though, it's a real technique just because sword duels are mostly just hitting the other guy first, so skipping the draw and getting straight to the attack is a good trick.

Thanks! I love learning about things like this so I appreciate you taking the time to type the comment out :)
@@DoomWolfOfficial Happy to, thanks for letting me geek out there.^^
Could be wrong but from what I have found the difference is more from the use; battojitsu doesn't break down drawing into striking instead teaching it as one motion, and has a heavy focus on distance control. It is also more meant as a combat art rather than a sport/artform. Thus it would be more similar to kendo vs kenjutsu since one was less practical in times of peace to practice.
Congrats on the well deserved 100k!
Thank you :)
Not only is the Silver Knight Sword good, it's buffable.
Ah, so it's unstoppable lol
Don't know how well known the polearm running attack is, just that I do. Found it in the little pool of water in the Depths, with my favorite weapon, Lucerne. The thunk sound is just happiness.
So you take back what you said about Lu, blasphemer!
Neat! I've read in other comments that it works basically anywhere there is water that slows your movements, so there, blighttown, sens, extra haha
Behold, the most homosexual build in existence!
What do you mean?
Int builds are worse
Can confirm. I used to be straight until I starting using dex
Can confirm, I’m gay and use dex builds
@@jacobislucas I am gay but I still use strength cause when I see big numbers that makes me happy 🙂
Dex better then strength? On God you are pushing it!
New doom wolf video, let’s go. Best way to spend my break at work.
Hope you enjoyed it my friend :)
@@DoomWolfOfficial loved it as usual! :)
Great video doom, always love hearing your voice and being entertained!!
I'm glad you enjoyed it my friend :)
Whenever i try to do a str build i end up accidentally going back to dex lol, i just enjoy dex weapons, ESPECIALLY in bloodborne
understandable, Dex is better than strength after all so it's just the natural order ;)
7:11 Strange. He always drops his sword when I kill him 🤔
I don't usually go out of my way to fight him, but I thought it was random. The wiki says it is (but then again, wiki has bene wrong before so who knows lol)
"Have you ever fought Quelaag at a low level with an unupgraded spear?"
No, however about two weeks ago I fought her at a low level with an unupgraded Claw.
pain, that is pain lol
I imagine it was even more annoying for Quelaag. "Would this mosquito just stand still so I can squish it?"
Nooo! Use the Tracers for Gwyn! The Silver Tracer has the best critical damage
shoot, well maybe next time lol
About the intro: i would wish you that your Bad of Chaos would regrove it's roots every time you exite boss fight and is consumabe immune, but i wouldn't wish it not even to my worst enemy.
lmao, I accept my fate
Let me just say that I watched this video and saw you get lucky with drops. Meanwhile I got an advertisement talking about being lucky. It was a sign Doom.
lmao, all the stars aligned for that
That katana draw attack is called Iaijutsu or way of the drawing sword and was made basically because it was seen as dishonorable in feudal Japan to be the one to draw your blade first so that style was made so the samurai could defend themselves quickly reason i know this my girlfriend is really into Japanese history :3
Nice! Thanks for the explanation :)
@@DoomWolfOfficial it's the least I can do
About the intro: i would wish you that your Bad of Chaos would regrove it's roots every time you exite boss fight and is consumable immune, but i wouldn't wish it not even to my worst enemy.
I think you posted this three times, but regardless, I still accept my fate lol
@DoomWolfOfficial What? You ansvered me 3 times yourself!
Oh my, that's one sexy-dexy chosen undead.
Indeed, I got all dolled up for the run lmao
I think the instant attack of the scythe is due to the fact that the normal one is tied to a force vector (example bc my explanation kinda sucks: if you press the button, it sends a vector before starting the attack), but when you're on high water, the friction between the floor and you is incremented, giving out that you need a bigger force to do the run attack.
If anyone has better data, please correct me. Im not so used to working with havok physics
Perhaps! I don't know the Havok engine, but I mean it stands to reason that if the animation itself is tied to some calculation, then an added variable could mess it up!
Dex mains have been keeping it a secret. Painted guardian sword slaps. So does an upgraded winged spear. Try it with a shield.
I was genuinely surprised by how much damage it did, can't say the same for the winged spear but it was +0 so, that's expected lol
Xenoblade Chronicles Music in the Background? I'm completely sold :D
It's good music!
Dex weapons move set is so much better to look at than strength
agreed!
Now The Bay Harbor Butcher has terrorizing Lordan, i hope he only kill a guilty ones
I actually haven't seen this show yet (had to look up where the reference was from lol), as far as this run, everyone but Pricilla was guilty of something ;) lol
@@DoomWolfOfficial I think Izalith was guilty too for creating chaos fire and turning everyone into a Demons and Seath for killing his own kind.
@@DoomWolfOfficial Because DEXTERity build, baa dum tss
"Dex is better than strength"
*Low Rumbling Noises*
Let the strength mains come lol
10:30 "Oh hey, a NSP reference!"
Glad someone got it! I..I actually think you're the first comment I have seen who has, was it that subtle? lol
You called in the strength calvary, i will help you.
I appreciate the help! :)
_"It doesn't matter if you have Dex, Str, Int, Fth, 'cause it's all the same once they're dead!"_ *-Some Fat Guy from Silent Souls (Or Demon's Hills or whatever)*
Also, as someone who has used the Wing Spear, I can tell you that it's a good weapon. It does suck when you have to fight the Gaben Moonlight Butterfly with the spear, though.
haha facts though
and fair, I just personally don't like spear or straigth sword move sets, I feel like they are limiting
the painting guardian sword is an ingredient for the most dps in the game
That doesn't surprise me with what I saw lol
DEX better that STR???? sir, your unga-bunga license gonna be revoke tomorrow
I'll parry anyone who tries to take it lol
The fast attack thingy you did in water also works in blighttown in the poison
according to some other comments it works anywhere where the water slows you down, which is neat!
6:18 The fact that I was, in fact, playing Elden Ring and dying to Waterfowl Dance as Doom said this...
What can I say, I see all lmao
Doom decided to do Finger Day by cheesing Manus
I did, now my right index finger is stronk af lol
The instant running attack works with all Halberd type weapons when in water.
neat, that's good information lol
Want a true gem? Use the painting guardian sword in dark souls 3 with a luck and hollow build, that little blade will blow your mind.
would you say its a true _hollow_ gem? lol
I honestly haven't used most of these weapons, just because I cannot resist the bonk on any non-caster
Fair, fair lol
Wolf doom video today?? It’s a good day
Hope you enjoyed it my friend :)
Try the gold tracer in the left hand! It along with the greave lord sword have unique movesets in the left hand slot
well crap, leave it to me to put it in the wrong hand lmao
12:04 you can do that in any environment that requires the rusted iron ring to move normally.
neat lol
in numbers, best normal +15 dex weapons:
Big Schitar (in catacombs)
Pike
Uchigatana.
interesting, thanks!
@DoomWolfOfficial sorry my english, im from spain and no learn much english
Dark Souls 1: Strength Dark Souls 2: Int/Faith Dark Souls 3: Dex
Well I have 1 of those done lol
Sankyu Doom-san. Always appreciate your uploads 😊
Glad you enjoy the videos my friend :)
this is genuinely the first time ive ever known that the enchanted falchion turns into a magic falchion and then into a weapon i didnt even know existed
Well I'm glad I can teach you something :)
So to do the Iato thing, you sheath the sword, then swing it while pulling it out the sheath.
Legit though, it's a real technique just because sword duels are mostly just hitting the other guy first, so skipping the draw and getting straight to the attack is a good trick.
neat! Thanks for explaining!
I have been waiting for this 🙏
Hope you enjoyed it :)
3:32 "would be crazy if Balder straight sword drops first try"
*kills a rapier wielding knight*
Bruh
so far only you have said this lol
21:01 I've no idea what the hell is the problem with that knight specifically but I had it vanish when I was doing knights honour farming loops here as well
the only thing I can think of is ...maaaybe he's not positioned correctly and sometimes clips out? but then we should get souls for him falling to death so I don't know haha
Wtf? The Silver Kight Weapons have innate divine, and the enemies in Dark Root Basin are called Ents and not Bushy Bitches??
You learn something new every day, even after putting well over 1000 hours into DS1 😂
I might be mistaken but I think it's specifically the spear that has innate divine? idk why only that one but still lol
Thanks DoomWolf and congratulations on the 100K subs🎉.
Thank you my friend :)
Yeah I noticed the instant attack thing too in the blighttown swamp
it apparently works in any water that limits your movements! and that would mean it has actual utility in blighttown with the enemies there haha
Its funny that that katana is called the iaito because the fighting style that uses quick draw style attacks like that is called iai
I can't say for sure, but that's probably intentional, with it's heavy attack move too haha
What the actual f*ck!? That 12:24 ladder sequence... Katsu! The sheer amount of spaguetti coding on that is enought to open a whole cyber-italian restaurant.
Spaguetti
Kek
haha yeah, that ladder thing was..weird. I mean the falling I guess was intentional, but the whole teleporting up?? what??
9:35 Insert “He’s cheating” meme here
lol it did feel like that but just lucky
_unsheaths my basic dagger_ xD
I see you too enjoy some .. Dex lol
if i'm not mistaken the painting guard ian sword is the highest dps weapon on the game
I haven't checked but after what I saw, I believe it lol
The revenge on manus was worth it ❤
it was, even if it took way too long lol
The most chad build
it really is lol
The halbert glitch is well known. Its why i always end up with an enchanted halbert+5
I'm still learning new things about these games, it's wild haha
you have no honor => chaos blade dex build backstab fishers
and you are a slave to it => naked using the demon's great hammer in the sewer tunnels of the depths only able to attack without hitting walls by rolling and stabbing the ground.
Why have I been both these people lol
"but don't tell anyone you leveled that up"
I am not afraid to show my dexuality lmao
You will know our names? Dark souls is my favorite Xenoblade game
lmao, same though
Yes, the halberd instant run attack in water (without the rusty ring) is a known thing 😂
neat, shows how little I use the halberd class lmao
"But 10 minutes is a long time to be jabbing my spear into her" 💀💀
12 seconds -or- _and_ bust lmao
