Fastest 1967 BSA Spitfire w/ Bonus BSA Hornet Bike Too! TBT 24

Found this beautiful BSA Spitfire tucked away in a row of beautiful classic bikes. Also, a quick look at a wonderful example of a BSA Hornet from the same era. Wahoo!

You need to do some homework. The '67 Spitfire was the hotrod streetbike. It had the Goldstar vented, full width brakeshoe, front brake, Aluminum rims w/shoulders,, aluminum quick adjust brake and clutch assemblies, the first BSA w/ concentric carbs, and the engine had higher compression and hotter cams than the Lightning.

The 67 had a racing type front brake The 68 spitfire had a twin leader front brake with the infamous Amal gp race carbs very hard to get a good idle best wishes from nz

Hi, The 67 was the last year for the Goldstar type Brake which this example has a Full-width single leader, no you would be a Danger trying vintage racing with that, but it was used in the day with Green linings and Dunlop flanged Rims. They were the first year of the Mk1 concentric's over the Amal GP Carbs which don't have an idle system, but unlike the Goldie, they started alright. The cam and cam lift/Timing are the same on all 3 Bikes only difference was the 10.25 : 1 ratio pistons. I would know I have one and have done a few. I'm fitting Megacycle cams on mine, with a slightly larger inlet valve, porting the head and keeping the 10.25 pistons just making sure the squish works properly and 32 mk 1 carbs, 34mm would be better for track use but this motor runs nicely in the hands of an experienced riding with a lighter and properly balanced engine these are great Bikes, last one I did was a 1970 Hornet, to same spec loverly Bike everywhere, pulled like a train with the timing figures I used.
