It was so nice to see this video and hear of your experience. Our parents are from India but we are born & raised in Canada so we can take it for granted how Western living situation isn't foreign to us. You should be proud of how hard you worked to settle here and how you sacrificed everything that was "home" to you back in India. Love how you have a take charge attitude!!!!!! No not at all boring. Every question was important.
Very inspiring story Payal. Even before coming to San Francisco I was In Boston Manhattan and Stamford (Connecticut). But overall California is very costly. Most of ur money will go for rent and tax.In sfo we pay $4k plus utility bills. Here life is damn costly. In good locality the real estate min cost is 1 US million.you were right settling here is a challenge because no one is going to help you and u have to manage everything. I will love to see your old homes u used to live before. Whatever u said today, I can’t agree more. Yes American people do everything and very much less dependent. So many things are still there to learn and I believe till death every day we learn something. Hahaha true.. people do think that life is easy here. Even I love US a lot and no doubt though it is a developed country life is easy than developing countries. Whenever I tell my friends Me and my husband love this country they don’t understand us rather they give opinion that we are not patriotic . I always tell them this world belongs to us and we have a right to choose our destination . But due to terrorism we have imposed so many laws and regulations which is really sad. Because we human made this rule😭😭. Me and my husband always try to travel and see the diff and beautiful world . This video was really interesting and m sure this video is going to help so many viewers. Thanks again for sharing so much informations with us. Stay blessed and tc. I can totally relate with you.. Me, my husband n our daughter came to USA 9 months back. We also faced same situations and handled the situations same like you like doing everything by our own. We felt that the education system was totally different there from India. Since our stay for now was only till 2019 so I came back with my daughter so that she doesn't have to struggle back in India for her education after 1 year. Now my husband is there alone and as a family it's one of the bad phase of life as we all 3 are missing each other a lot. But he can't come before 2019 as he has to do his job.
I see all your vlog and love them totally.
+Deepali Shahabadi thanks dear but It must be very hard for you then and your hubby as I know people feel very depressed leaving alone but atleast the technology is good now that you can see atleast each other through video conferences.Be strong and I know one of my friend who didn't come as her kid was kid and she was coming for only 2 yrs.
Hi Payel, I can relate to what you said about expenses, taxes, very high labor cost, parenting, etc. Parenting is definitely is a bit of challenge here as we come from India and our kids are born and growing here in different culture. Schooling also is different! Lot of things to learn for sure. I am too still learning, even after 13 yrs here. Good luck!

Hi payal, totally agree with you. living outside India is not at all easy. We are here in Dubai for more than 9 years and shifted our apartment 5 times.
Rent and other things are very high but only good thing here is cleanliness.

yes you are right i am from.pakistan but living in dubai rite now have lots of problem like after every two year visa issue and so on education is more expensive then pakistan so the home land is home land but the good thing of here is life is luxurious
Yes , I agree with you I have almost 15 years living in USA , we need to learn at the same time with our kids . The education is totally different compare with other countries , I need to study again. How to do the substration and divisions even equation in algebra .
Every year is a challenge .

Thanks for sharing your experience with us. My family had almost same experience when we moved to Michigan from India 5 yrs ago but luckily my uncle was here for help. And today we bought a small house not big as yours but it has 3 bedrooms, kitchen, garage and everything needed for a family.

we came here 2012 and 4 yrs my family lived in apartment then we bought a house in 2016. when you shared your experience I was thinking my journey to here because five years ago, I was just starting my high School. The language was the main problem for me and my parents at that time.

Very similar to my story , I came here in March 2011 , Back home I have a lot of domestic help driver , cook , and safai wali , it was really hard to adjust since we have to wash the bathroom + no family it was so frustrated but time sab sikha deta hay. But this life is 100 times is better as we don’t have to rely to anybody I love here now.
Shumaila Khan I have the same story in India I have a full time maid and a cook and actually in my video I told that part but then I deleted it thinking that people will tell show off and it becomes little bit hard when you have to do the work alone even though you know that work but we don't have that habit of doing so much work .
Well it’s true , we must be appreciated that at least we are adjusting here doing all the chores around , I was dead afraid of driving but I am driving like a boss now ... oh btw I like your blogs I am thinking to create one now 🧐

I absolutely agree with the difficulties of shifting in the US . Life isn't easy here . My hubby is working in the US n India in the same Co. On n off he has to travel US for 18 yrs . He is aware of the kind of tough life you were talking of. Tomake shunte n tomar daily chores dekhte khub bhalo lage . Watching your video gives me inspiration that I should work hard for my only daughter n hubby . Subeccha o preeti janalam . Puja Mathur Hyderabad .

Hi Payal...We live in Melbourne Australia...what u said is totally true...nd in India we have maid...workers to get the works done...but once we get used to things here on Foriegn land we luv our life...we love Australia...weather is also very gud here ...especially for kids...heard that SFO is similar to Melbourne...cost of living is also not very expensive...but yes even I struggled a lot initially nd many friends helped me out here...nd I have my own brother family here in Melb

Hi Payal...so lovely vlog...its very true that really it is very difficult to adjust in abroad...as we r in Saudi...firstly i felt very difficult to adjust as we have to wear Parda (ABAYA) everywhere ..but later on it became my routine ..and as u say it is true that still we compare everything in Indian money..especially as a women we leave everything behind in our motherland and land in Abroad that is the foremost task to adjust...s i would love see ur homes where u lived earlier...

Payal this video was very informative. I am not planning to settle abroad..but if life throws an opportunity, i am training my self for it. Your blog is playing an instrumental role in guiding me. Infact your tips are great for people who wish to live an organized , independent life in india it self.. hum indians bohot lazy log hain, maids per bohot dependent. Family per dependent... i am single and want to raise myself above all these nuisances and prepare my self for an independent journey forward.

Simple Living Wise Thinking agreed, i do have two maids because my house is very big..but i never hesitate to dip my fingers to do a job. I do lot of things myself also. Plus i have starting gyming since 15th Jan. After getting motivated from you. Already lost one inch and 1.5kgs on scale. Love you.

yes it is not easy to leave our mother country and stay in US, everyday we live with lot of memories and can't attend functions/occasions with family etc.. Yes there are some perks but also some sacrifices.!

I would say , there are only sacrifices for the wives. I have been to USA but couldn't stay more than 4 months. I love my career and my family both and till today balancing.
But in USA wives from India have only family i.e. also only kids and husband. Not the whole family.
